So, I guess she is joining the lineup. I’m guessing with Vanellope at the end of the year

They should use the
clip where Moana literally says "I'm not a princess" for their next Disney Princess campaign.
Based on the spring 2018 issue of Total Licensing, it seems like Moana is already considered part of the DP line-up by Disney Consumer Products.

Sky Cinema Italy is running a marathon of Disney Princess movies and using this image to promote it.

This Australian Disney site include Moana as part of the franchise:
http://www.disney.com.au/princess
Explore new worlds with Jasmine.
Write your own story like Belle.
Go against the tide with Moana.
Be brave like Merida.
Work hard like Cinderella.
Find your voice like Ariel.

Cinderella was forced to work hard. They should have used never stop believing in your dreams.

Yeah, using Tiana's work ethic may have made more sense.

Yeah, that would have been better, too.

Is this legit (Vanellope becoming a Disney Princess) or is this cheeky comment about how many princesses there are? Just curious.

Yeah, using Tiana's work ethic may have made more sense.
I can imagine the lines they scrapped if that's what they picked.
"Eat your fruits and vegetables like Snow White."
"Get enough sleep each night like Aurora."
"Try new things like Mulan."

(Well, okay, that last one makes a little sense...)

I wonder what the near future will bring for this franchise. Surely they will want to refresh things a little someday soon?
Perhaps a new redesigns? I actually wonder if they won't be featured in CGI from now on, not only with them appearing like that in Sofia the First or Wreck-it-Ralph's sequel, but also for example on the promotional pictures of 'Pirates vs Princesses' festival.
I think Disney may try to do more things with all princesses featured together, like in Ralph or Pocket Princesses' fan-comic. If that would be the case, I think new designs are more than likely.
Anna, Elsa and Moana will for sure either join the line-up (finally) or still be featured as a 'honorable' members. Maybe if she will meet criteria, Jan-Nin from Dragon Empire will take spot number 15?

oh definitely if the movie is a hit and the Wrecked Princesses become popular, and it looks like theyre going to be
very popular b/c most people dont care about things like "legacy" and "tradition" or else we'd still have 2d animation.

Yeah I can see a couple of years where the Princess franchise gets this redesign and new merch in this style. I dont think it will completely replace the old designs though, eventually once the movie fades from the limelight and the redesigns have been around for a while they will eventually change them again, maybe back to something closer to the old films again.
I do think if this happens they will probably "soften" the designs a bit. While I think some of the girls look ok, some of them look absolutely demented lol! and Cinderella omg WTF?! she's the worst of all of them, she looks like the Olson Twins during their early Full House days.

You beat me to it,
Raj. I was about to write a post on how this movie will affect the franchise.
First of all, Vanellope was named a "honorary" Disney Princess at the expo. (Around at the :030 mark
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktRc28Oy7nQ) She even admits that she's a princess in the scene. I really think (and hope) they'll add her in. I mean, with an already-iconic scene, this movie is bound to be much more successful than the first movie and how can they not add her in? But, something about the new Disney Princess header tells me the opposite. And the scene isn't mentioned at all on the website. What do you guys think? And plus, Vanellope and this scene are opening a lot of new doors to the franchise. A book series, clothing, apps, new dolls, entertainment at the parks, and Disney would be stupid if they don't do a TV show, especially on the streaming site.
I don't think Disney will keep the CGI versions of the princesses permantely and I hope not. Anna is 2D, Elsa is 2D, Rapunzel is 2D..etc. They will definitely have Vanellope 2D in some merch. But, I can see Disney the CGI unfortunately. If the CGI characters can be 2D in all of the products, 2D characters can be CGI. It would be a heartbreaking shame that Disney hates 2D animation so much they would force the princesses to be that way. Michael Eisner wanted to remake the 2D movies in 3D and well, Eisner got his wish.

I actually wouldn't like to have Vanellope in the franchise, she would be so out of place. And I don't think they will add her. I think they just named her a princess because she is in that scene. Craig Gerber refers to Elena as an official Disney Princess all the time, and she obviously is not.

I agree with Raf about Vanellope not fitting in with the rest of the princesses. She's a child and her design is much more caricatured. I wouldn't want her joining the DP line either.
The future of the franchise looks bleak to me. I find these re-designs horrible and the change of medium insulting. It really surprises me that fans went ballistic online over the 2012 re-designs that only altered minor things such as hairstyle and dresses but are apparently eating this one up when it constitutes a radical departure from the princesses original look.

I can definitely see the CGI princesses sticking around especially with the Facebook profile pics having been changed. And here we thought the 2D redesigns were bad. While there was online backlash towards the redesigns, it seemed like that was just a minority of hardcore fans. The general public didn't care or didn't even notice. Merida was the only one who received extreme backlash likely because she was such an outlier and the redesigns took place right when she debuted. In general, most people recognize the classic princesses (Cinderella, Snow White, Belle, Pocahontas, etc.) based off of the Disney Princess lineup and merchandise rather than the original characters from the movies which is why people are far more forgiving towards their skewed treatment.

Oh, we all know why. People simply prefer CGI. Do you how many people on facebook profiles of princesses asked for CGI remakes of the 2D princess movies? Now that is something I find insulting and I will never understand.

Seriously, the only positive thing I may see in it is that CGI designs use original dresses and hairstyles. But even if, I will take 2D cliparts with new hairstyles/outfits over this any day!

It doesn't have to be about preferring one to the other. The 2D designs are probably going to stick around too. The CG ones are just going to be yet another option (probably)

Also, Vanellope is an anti-princess. She clearly states that she is not like a princess in the first film.
I can't see the princesses getting new designs so soon, especially not CGI ones. The only good thing I could see from the Ralph Breaks the Internet scene other than entertainment is people wanting to know the real princesses stories and films because of what they say.
