Got my copy last night! Nice to see the 1.66 ratio preserved, and unlike Lukes, mine came with a code for $10 movie money towards Saving Mr. Banks!

Also, however logical, this is the rare blu-ray/dvd for a g-rated Disney movie that has a trailer for a PG-13 one.

I was hoping for a new bonus feature based on the musical with people talking about and with some shots of the closing night.
But it's Disney, never going to happen

Has anyone figured out if there's a way to navigate to "A Musical Journey with Richard Sherman" on the Blu-Ray disc in a standard Blu-Ray player? Or is it only accessible in a BD-ROM on a computer?

I've navigated all over the place on the menus trying to see if they might have made it an easter egg or something, but apparently it's only available via BD-ROM according to Luke's review. I'm assuming that in the menu-design process, somehow they forgot to include an option for it under the Classic Music & More. Its inclusion among the files shows it was clearly meant to be included, especially when we consider the fact that the rear cover of the UK Blu-Ray actually lists it (does anyone have the UK disc, and can they confirm if it's on the disc?).

Given that it's just a bonus feature, I doubt enough fans would be compelled to write to Disney for a disc replacement program a la The Little Mermaid. It's definitely an annoyance, as it's a wonderful featurette. But since I still have the previous DVDs, I can just use those when I want to watch it. It's merely the convenience of having most of the bonuses on one disc that bothers me.

Though, if we're being honest, I'm more bothered that Disney didn't put more fanfare into this. I'd rather it got a big honkin' box set like their Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs set from 2009. It would certainly have looked nice next to other "big box classics" from other studios: 20th Century Fox's The Sound of Music, Columbia/Sony's Lawrence of Arabia, Paramount's The Ten Commandments, Warner Bros.'s Ben-Hur, Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, James Dean, Singin' in the Rain, The Wizard of Oz, etc.

I agree. I knew it was a long shot that Disney would give it UCE treatment, but if there is one Disney movie that would fit on the shelf next to those classics, it's "Poppins." I also dislike how promotion of this Blu-ray took a back seat to promotion of "Saving Mr Banks." I dislike how the very release of "Poppins" was a tie-in for "Banks."

After all, I've followed Julie Andrews' promotional events for years, and she's always been willing to come back for Poppins and TSOM-- but there were no talk show engagements scheduled to promote "Poppins." She has, however, been called on to host several screenings of "Saving Mr. Banks" for industry voters. I don't follow the other players as intently, of course, but the only one I haven't seen do any promotion for "Banks" is Karen Dotrice. In fact, she's the only one I read give an interview specifically for "Poppins" on Blu-ray. Richard Sherman and Dick van Dyke have also attended premieres and made interviews to promote "Saving Mr. Banks."

I was afraid all this would happen when the Blu-ray was announced out of the blue. I'm very happy to have my copy of the film, and indeed it looks beautiful, but this may be the last milestone many of the major players will be around to celebrate the film. And it's a shame Disney has put them to the task of promoting "Banks" instead.

A question for the people who have the combo pack: does the dvd included have the transfer from the blu ray (as in, with the right colors and the Buena Vista Logo)?

I rented the 50th AE DVD and yes, the DVD has the new transfer and the Buena Vista logo restored! The menus are the same from the 45th AE, just FYI.

I once said a while ago about why can't Disney make new DVD discs of the movies released the same day as the Blu-ray featuring the new transfers like Robin Hood and The Muppet Movie. And I guess I was wrong, Disney did just that, so thanks Disney.
