The whole theme of her movie was rebelling AGAINST the ideals of being a 'Princess' in the terms of what Disney merchandises them as.

I do not regard TLM/BATB etc to be 'Princess' films, but the characters they personify in this franchise are. And Merida doesnt fit. Unless, as they have with the other ladies, completely alter her personality to fit in.

and on another note; has Merida become a popular character?

She looks a lot older, but I think Snow White looks fab in that new clipart ... And I think Jasmine may have broken her arm ...

I wonder if Merida is kind of kicking out Pocahontas/Mulan, kind of like when Tiana came out (or was it Rapunzel?) and I noticed that Aurora wasn't in/on as much merchandise...? (Not that Pocahontas & Mulan are on as much merchandise as the other princesses...)

If anyone got "kicked out" when Tiana came along it was Jasmine. I doubt Disney would kick any of them out though, people would probably be upset and complain. Pocahontas and Mulan will probably just be on even less merchandise now.

P.S Snow White looks so pretty in that picture.

Yeah, I thought the same about Jasmine. Tiana's probably getting the most merchandise, with Jasmine, Mulan and Pocahontas behind, in that order. I doubt any of the white characters will be getting kicked out.

Thankfully, Ariel is one of the most popular, so I don't have to worry she might get kicked out because of Merida's hair color. I'd be surprised if Merida doesn't end up on the same level of Jasmine, as far as how much she sells. I can't imagine she'd be bringing in very much money after the film's initial release has faded from people's minds.

I think they did a very good job translating her into a 2-D character, I especially like her hair! I think it looks so beautiful. I like the fact that she didn't she doesn't have a dress full of sparkles.. I mean there are some here and there but they at least didn't overdid it...

And I am the only one that thinks that Ariel's bangs should be bigger? Also her eyes need to be bigger.... and her lips darker ugh i don't like how they draw her in the new cliparts at all, Ariel should look more... youthful :(

Will they have a 'crowning' ceremony like they did with Rapunzel?

Wow! Good job, Dimitri! Your version looks waaay closer to how she looks in the movie! I must admit, though, I've always thought Ariel's bangs in the movie were kinda ridiculous.

Starting next week, I'll be working on a project that launches in May. If I come across any additional merchandise regarding Merida and the princess line, I'll post some sort of vague message for you guys. :)
