lol for me it does...thats why I suggested its a 'personal' thing...I worked on almost all of those darn number two direct to dvd movies and they all bring back very awful memories for me...I also had to sit through Sharon Morrill's mindless drivel when she came to visit the studio-"I only ever heard her use the term 'franchise' when she spoke of the classics.' They had no respect for the classics only as a means of leeching money from an already milked cow...yeah sure as direct to video films go they are better than most but I have always felt they spoiled the originality of the classics and tainted the water--- the average Stepford mum didnt know the difference probably and Disney made no attempt to differentiate between walt disney features and Disneytoon studios...as I say its a personal thing...I personally dont want to be reminded of them (sequels) and ultimately it brought Disney animation back to being little more than an electronic babysitter in that period after it had taken so long to be embraced by all ages...but I love the original features...
A-men!

I think I'll be looking elsewhere for my blu ray copies of Hunchback, Mulan and Atlantis ...I think the UK releases blu rays of the stand alone classics without the direct to video stuff attatched...
Yep. I think I'm just going to pick up the 2002 DVD of Hunchback somewhere. Yes i know it doesn't look the best quality but as long as it is as far away from that wretched, wretched, wretched sequel, I don't care.
You know,,, you do have to hit play when it comes to the sequels.
Just a thought lol.

You know, I have a love/hate relationship with the Disney sequels. I'm SURE the powers-that-be started out with really good intentions, and there was some GREAT stuff early on ("The Enchanted Christmas").
Then they started becoming greedy, churning out sequels to films which really didn't need any extra embellishment ("Hunchback" and "Mulan" are perfect examples). But having said that, I believe "Cinderella III" was genius and really took the boundaries of the original film into exciting new areas.

I agree with this statement

One thing that might persuade me is if they have some decent extras especially on Hunchback blu...

It is certainly deserving of some decent special features ... Are they charging extra by throwing in the sequel though? I noticed that Treasure Planet blu is a little less than 20 bucks at amazon.com...and that of course is a stand alone feature...

-Well, Hunchback is a 3 disc pack.
My guess is that the second are extras for the first film.
...however, the extras posted before sound to me the exact same ones as the original DVD release.
-Why people don´t want the sequels in their movies?
1. If they include them as extras (and as long as they don´t compromise the quality of the original) I´m sure most people won´t mind. The thing is that Disney doesn´t do this and it even ruins the cover art for the the BR.
2. Even if it´s free. If people don´t want it then THEY DON´T WANT IT.
...I remember that I bought the DVD for Resident Evil Degeneration and iit came in a pack with a movie that was REALLY bad. I told the employee I didn´t want it. And he was amazed since it was free and I had to take it either way.
What use is it for me a movie I´m sure I won´t watch not even once. I would get rid of it; the same goes for the Disney sequels.
-Hercules now I´m sure will show up. Just that they will hold it for later on the year. It will be the last 90s and strong movie to be released. So, why rush it?

All of the 2-movie sets have 3 discs, one Blu-Ray and two DVD's (one for each movie).

The 3-disc pack usually comprises:
1 Blu-ray (which will have both movies), plus 2 regular DVDs (one for each movie).

A lot of people don't seem to understand this.
If you went to the supermarket and I told you for every dollar you spent I'd give you a rotten apple, would you take all those apples home?

"Rotten apples". Let's just agree with "apples which you don't like". I wouldn't mind the offer, it's better for me from a financial standpoint and I could always throw the apples away when I get home or share them with someone who likes them. Finally, I could just go to another supermarket

So you're willing to compromise on the quality, so long as it's not coupled with the sequel? The 2002 DVD was not stellar to begin with, in terms of the film's transfer. I'm not gonna watch any of the sequels (unless I have a lot of spare time and patience for that) but I don't mind them just being on the disc.

On the contrary...I have already pre ordered the bluray for Hunchback

In fact I agree with you ...Hunchback deserved better...which is why I would have liked to see it receive diamond treatment...hoping it would be coupled with a special features disc as opposed to being coupled with the dreadful sequel.,, I think someone else suggested re purchasing the dvd that wasnt me...

That's what I considered to not make any sense back on the last page when I saw it suggested in the post I quoted. Especially since the price will be no different because of its inclusion.

DON'T RUSH IT?!
Anyway, Disney should be able to put whatever they want in their disc. Sadly. These analogies of not wanting something extra don't really apply because nobody has ever before complained about an extra on a movie disc.
The best thing to do would be to only use those covers on the slip cover or put a big REMOVABLE sticker on the case that advertises the second movie. This would make both collectors and soccer moms happy, because everyone would know there's two movies on that disc without ruining a perfectly good chance to display art from the movie that took them months and months to complete rather than the cheapquel that doesn't really stand up against the original.

Well... I know that to a lot of people, pairing a DAC w a cheap-quel is like a sin.
I dont mind it so much, as long as the sequel is considered a "bonus feature", and doesnt share the cover.
But I think what I do mind....and that DOES bother me, is when they add a sequel, but discard a lot of readily available bonus features. Like the Pocahontas blu ray... they added the sequel, and killed off most of the bonuses that had been present in the dvd and lserdisc.
I have the Anastasia 2-disc dvd, and it has "bartok the magnificent" as a bonus... but doesnt drop any of the good stuff!
