Lady and the Tramp 6m
Sleeping Beauty 6.2m
Little Mermaid 7m
Beauty and the Beast 4.4m (w/o rerelease)
Aladdin 4.4m
Lion King 8m
Hunchback 110k

Emperor 1.2m
Lilo 7.6m
Treasure 1.9m
Brother Bear 6.2m
Chicken Little 6.3m
Robinsons 3m
Bolt 5.6m
Thanks for this. It should be noted that Sleeping Beauty is a combined total of the 2003 and 2008 releases, each selling about 2.5.
About Aladdin, I remember it sold 2.8 in its first few months or so, so 4.4 million seems a bit high.

- This might just be me, but I'm bored with the Diamond line in a way because it's the Platinum line. It's neat that the color looks marvelous (Snow White looked like it could have been released in 2009 with Princess and the Frog since the picture looked so great) but I want a mix up. I would be really happy if they gave Hercules, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Alice in Wonderland, Home on the Range, Robin Hood, Aristocats, Sword in the Stone, The Fox and the Hound, Black Cauldron the kinds of juicy behind the scenes stuff that they gave the Platinum collection.
- I think the only Diamond I'm really looking forward to is Peter Pan because the "making of" documentary wasn't satisfying. Hopefully they give some more stuff about it rather than a 15 minute featurette.
- I'm excited to see if they will rerelease the sequels to the movies in the Diamond line since I don't have many of those. I think the sequels are pretty good & some I haven't seen so it's like brand new movies are coming out!

Yeah, I was surprised SB would've sold 6.2 in one release, compared to the others. I'm surprised by B&tB and Aladdin's low numbers though...

B&B was released in 2002 when sales still split with VHS. It sold 2 million copies on VHS from that release.
Aladdin flopped.

^I wonder if the Beauty and the Beast 3D release will drop the 2nd disc of special features from the fall 2010 Diamond Edition. If it keeps it, would that make it a 5 disc set?

And the sideways titles look sooooo bad.
Disney get your sh!t together!
It was passable with Bambi because the title was short, but The Lion King 3D and Beauty and the Beast 3D look beyond stupid.
Poor Lady and the Tramp. The cover will be awful.

Most likely Day-and-date with Lion King

If they're going to keep making the titles vertical on the front covers, they ought to scrap the vertical titles on the spines and replace them with columns of characters' heads.

I keep seeing a future where we get a "Lady and the Tramp" Blu-ray cover akin to this.

Now don't be too hard on them, there will of course be some off-model clip art!

Disney are becoming more lazy and releasing horrible covers. The Platinum Edition covers are way much better while the Diamond covers are crap. Anyways I only care about the movie but Disney needs to put their things together and hire good designers even Disney fans can come up with great classic covers.

Peter Pan DVD release was rushed, and not half as good as it could have been; it has the barest minimum of bonus features, and not even a new 'Making Of' is my memory serves me right ? Just a prime example of Disney mucking us about and sacrificing something that could have been an amazing release to something quite mediocre.
Well, we have already had the 'Gold Collection' ! Hercules etc are all included in this line; all 1 disc release DVDs.
Then we had the Platinum Editions. Clearly going on the precious metal theme here ...
Now they have swapped to stones. So, is there a stone more precious than a diamond ? We could be getting :
The Little Mermaid ~ Ruby Edition
Pinoccio ~ Saphire Edition
The Lady and the Tramp ~ Emerald Edition
Or they will get rid of having a collection title all together and revert to using their silly subtitles again *cough PixiePoweredEdition cough*
I do have a very strong feeling that we will see the end of the Diamond line in 2015 and by that time they will likely have all of their films re-mastered for HD release and they will move on to 3D releases of all of the films. 3D conversion is only getting less expensive with new technology and when there is an audience for it, I think we will be seeing a lot of conversions.
Autumn 2016 - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs 3D
Autumn 2017 - Either a re-release of Beauty and the Beast 3D (unlikely) or something to fill it's spot. Likely Pocahontas or Aladdin or something.
Etc... etc...

I won't lie... I'm really hope they decide to switch it up with Sapphire and Ruby editions after TLK.

This is a dumb question but the Pinocchio that's out right now on blu- ray is part of the platinum edition right? So in a couple of years will Pinocchio also have a diamond edition??
