I do find the absence of Genie strange, and when I looked at the new cover art, he is not present either.

Anyone know what's up with the Genie?
Can anyone tell me what's so new about this "new" Aladdin website?

I think that Genie should be presented, just not so big! He's an essential character to the story and deserves to be on their no matter what Disney or Robin Williams thinks. The cover art looks so plain and dull without Genie.

Well I think it looks goofy and stupid with him on it. I don't think it is all that neccesary to have him on it, as long as the lamp is shown, but that's just my $.02 for what it's worth...

I probably would have gone with a different cover lay out myself, but truth be told, it's the collector box art, that is really going to be displayed in my shelf any way, and I suppose it really is just what's on the discs that count, though it is still nice to have nice cover art.

What I would do with the cover is make Aladdin (and Jasmine, Abu and carpet) bigger! Then the design wouldn't look plain and it would be more like the style that we all know and like!

Pretty!! :) :drools: I like the lamp on the front. I must get the collector's set for Aladdin, because I have the collector's set for TLK, and you can't have one and not the other!

How good was The Lion King Gift Set I saw it at Costco in October 2003 and I didn't buy it. Now I wish I did buy it oh well.

At least I have the DVD!!!

Thanks for that post Jordan it looks really awesome!!!
I wish it was in my hands now!!!!

Very VERY nice...I don't know if it's final artwork, but the DVD cover includes the Genie and they seem to have used the Aladdin and Jasmine from the VHS cover, which is good, imo, as they look better. Odd that the pic shows a double alpha case (The Lion King's Giftset pic did the same thing).

By the way, the box looks wonderful. I can't wait to see what the "Mulan" box will look like.[/img]

EWWW! GOD! that cover is aweful, I REALLY hope that is not the official cover, its the exact same as the old VHS but with a different backround! YUCK, that needs to GO!

OK, now I can see the picture of the box set, and it does indeed look very nice.

Did anyone else notice that the DVD case appears to be the double wide kind that Snow White and the Treasures come in?

And about the above post^^^ I was being a little over dramatic, but I truly do NOT like that cover, though it appears to be the cover that is shown in the Collectir Box art. I really liked the newer Aladdin and Jasmine model, and I hope they use that, or some completely different all together, but the cover that is shown above is just aweful in my honest opinion... :headshake:

You're right, it does look like a double-wide case. I don't like that either. Right now, I'm OK with Snow White being that way, and I can just pass it off as a "One That Started It All" special deal, but if my collection has to line up as:

Snow White- Double Wide
BATB- Reg w/ Slip-Cover
TLK- Reg w/ Slip-Cover
Aladdin- Double Wide
Bambi- Who knows?

Then I won't like that. I know these aren't the most important aspects for debate, lol, but I'd like a slip-covered release like the last 2 for consistency's sake. I guess the upside would be that the double-wide releases look a little more important. They also take up extra room on the shelf that I can't afford to waste.

Well, my issue isn't really so much with the double wide case, in fact I think I might prefer it if it were double, wide cause like you stated, it kind of makes it look more important, my main issue is that I do not like the cover art...

I don't think you have to worry about the double wide case though, becvause if I remeber correctly, Sleeping Beauty originally looked like it was going to be in a double wide case and then it got standard width, so who knows, Aladdin will most likely be standard width also, and if we're looking at Sleeping Beauty to set the example, it might even have a COMPLETELY different cover art all together by the time it comes out!

For some reson, that picture that is being shown, looks really old to me, so it's possible everything is not really as it is shown in that picture, only time will tell...

Man! I can not wait till this october!!!!!

And Aladdin will look like David Letterman, Jasmine like Sharon Osbourne, and the Genie like Rosie O'Donnel.

What about Jafar??

:P

Well, I don't think it is a great cover either, but I do think Aladdin and Jasmine look much better (though overbrushed).
After all, it is all about the cover! :D

Why is Abu in a different spot? His arm used to be around Aladdin's arm, and now it looks...weird.

I like this one better than the last one, that's for sure. I can't wait to get it.
