Huh... weird. Enchanted getting a sequel never even crossed my mind - it didn't really have an open ending. Maybe they should just leave the 'happily ever after'-films alone.
Let me guess, Enchanted II is going to be about Giselle trying to get her green card, I mean she *is* an illegal alien, or did they already get married - can't seem to remember?
Anyways, it made money at the box-office, so it *needs* a sequel by default. Sound logical... for a company. The long time period between this announcement and the first film is a little strange though, probably someone new in charge at Walt Disney Motion Pictures.

Enchanted II: Giselle Returns ?
Dis-Enchanted ?
Enchanted: Back To Andalasia ?
Nah,
Enchanted II: The Search for More Money

Honestly, if Mary Poppins were released today, there would certainly be a sequel, which is why I'm not surprised by this news.
People think Giselle and Robert weren't married in the end (I think they were, but that's just me), so there's still room in a sequel to show it.
The title Twice Enchanted is kind of cute.
My real reason for posting though is to say - aren't we all glad that there WASN'T a sequel to Mary Poppins??? Some things should just be left as they are. Nothing could have lived up to it. Some movies I am glad there is a sequel - Back to the Future, for one. But not others.
I guess, after reading the other posts, this one could go either way. Just so they do it right and not release something stupid just to make money.

Hey, so would that guy in Robert's apartment building!

Might be a better one than what Disney will be doing in the end.

Ditto.
Agreed. Although I am not a big fan of Disney sequels (I find they're never half as good as the originals), I just might go and see this.

Actually, Disney did plan on making a Mary Poppins sequel in the 1980s with Julie Andrews returning. There would also be a new character - Barney, the ice cream man and Bert's brother, played by...wait for it...Michael Jackson. If you don't believe me, Brian Sibley posted it on his blog a while back.

As for an Enchanted sequel, I have no problem with it as long as my Jimmy returns.

That's funny, I've thought of Enchanted as today's Mary Poppins as well, I even thought Amy Adams deserved Oscar buzz at the very least.
Nice sequel name by the way.
Haha, thanks. I try!
I've always thought Enchanted as a modern day Mary Poppins too. I remember when the movie first came out, people thought Amy Adams would be the next Julie Andrews and likened her success in this movie similar to Julie more than 40 years ago. I think Amy certainly deserved an Oscar nomination.
I think a sequel could be good if done right. Let's have faith.

Even though I think the orginial ended well, a sequel could be good if done right. I just hope that they would have more of the animation.
I wonder who would be the villain since Narissa is already dead?

Who says that Narissa is dead for sure?
We just saw her falling and disappear in a cloud of pixie dust...

I think that was done, so that the New York fire-fighters didn't have to deal with cleaning a giant purple dragon off the road. It's kind of like how in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, they have the vampire turn to dust when they die, so there is no cleaning up afterwards.
Plus, I doubt a magical dragon can survive a fall that long and landing on that steeple didn't help matters much either.

Well....she could return....as the age old plot of there being a ghost of Narissa....I know it's been done several times in other stories many differ ways or forms...for instance someone like a sister or brother are introduced and do dark magic to revive Narissa.....
Or Perhaps Nancy went bad...after all her last name is Tremaine...so there could be something like that Nancy learns dark magic from the Ghost of Narcissa and she brainwashes Edward.....or something like that
