Wow! Some interesting behind-the-scenes photos, too! This makes me really want to get this release now.

I wish we could say "Now all I have to do is see the other 15/16 of that one new bonus feature..."

Actually, I wish we could say, "All I have to do is watch the rest of the bonus disc"

I know, I know.

I want Disney to pull out all the sops in 2011 for the 40th Anniversary on Blu-ray. But they won't. :(

A 40th Anniversary Blu-ray...

Should I salivate or burst into tears?

I'm doing both at the moment. Excuse me while I go rehydrate myself.

As I've come to find out, If you pester and complain about something along enough it gets fixed or acomplished. So If we start now on nagging Disney, then by 2011, we could see a 40th Anniversary Edition in both DVD and Blu-ray.

Hey, just a thought...

Seeing as Disney brought Sean Marshall back to participate in the special features for the new "Pete's Dragon" release, why haven't (or why won't) Cindy O'Callaghan, Roy Snart and Ian Weighill be seen for "Bedknobs?"

For the record, Ms O'Callaghan still makes her living as an actress in the UK (most recently popping up in episodes of "The Bill"); and Weighill has appeared as recently as 2005, sharing his memories of playing Charlie in a TV special called "The 100 Greatest Family Films".

Disney released the new Bedknobs and Broomsticks release this week in The Netherlands. According to the press release and cover the running time is 77 minutes (PAL). The disc however includes the 112 minutes (PAL) version. Why not release the 134 minutes (PAL) version? :(

Because I think the disc is the same for both Belgium and Holland and perhaps there are some other languages on it (the 138 minutes version was dubbed in Europe ONLY in French and was distributed only in France and England,, in Italy we also have only the 112 minutes version)

The older Dutch disc (also 112 minutes) has both English and French audio, so if the 138 minutes French version has French audio it could be put onto the same disc for the Dutch release. That way you'd have the same language choices but the correct extended cut.
And I still think they missed a major opportunity to release them (Mary Poppins and Pete's Dragon too) on Blu-ray, but I won't start that whole debate again.

Yes, but the old Dutch dvd carries the ORIGINAL 117 MINUTES FRENCH DUBBING. It was the same released in Belgium. Now, I've checked the disc I just received from Amazon.fr , and it carries English, French; Italian and Spanish (and Dutch subtitles) all on the same disc and for the same 112 minutes master (at PAL speed). So the puzzle is solved, for some reasons they decided to use only one master for all Europe (except Germany were they'll have the 89 minutes version) and that's why they used the old shorter French dubbing also for France. Funny that for Pete's Dragon instead the master is the long one and so they used the new long french dubbing (the only languages on the dvd are english and french)

I used to own the 89 minute version on video...talk about butchering. Disney must have really been up against the wall to release that version.

I've just finished to watch the french dvd using french language. I confirm they used the original theatrical french dubbing (112 minutes) .
Very good quality and image!

So this new Edition Disc is a go?

I wish Pete's Dragon was remastered and on a two disc set, same as this film! :(

Preaching to the choir Matt... I'd love an Angela Lansbury audio commentary. The woman is AMAZING!

And, as much as it saddens me to add, she's not getting any younger, so Disney really needs to do something with her (re: new "Bedknobs" special features) while they can.

You are right! I am sure they will use her again in Beauty and the Beast Special Features. I loved her as Mrs. Potts. No one could have played her part better. :-)

I'm wondering if she ever considered playing Mrs Potts in the Broadway "Beauty & the Beast" (even as a limited run)? She would have been a sell-out.
