Jack Skellington: Many members here on UD went berserk with the comeback of Britney Spears, she was everywhere in the forum, on there avatars and siggys, but Britney wasn't the only one who invaded 2008 with her music, we were introduced to new artists, like Duffy, Jason Mraz, the Ting Tings, and 2008 also provided the much anticipated comeback of artists such as Kanye West, Metallica, Dido, Beyonce, as well as the Killers, as you can see this is a really competitive year for those music artists. <center>Best New TV Series</center>

PeterPanfan: There have been many great new TV series over the past year, but these five have been voted best amongst viewers. First is "Fat Guy Stuck in Internet", a short Adult Swim show about a man who gets sucked into the internet. Next is "Kath and Kim", the Americanized version of the hit Australian sitcom, which stars Selma Blair and Molly Shannon, as a whimsical mother and daughter team. Third is the spin-off of SNL, "Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday" which housed the now infamous Tina Fey as Sarah Palin sketch. Lastly is Disney Channel's, "The Suite Life on Deck", about the two mischiveous twins wreaking havoc on a ship alongside London, Moseby, and their new friend Bailey.

jrboy: Worst Film of the Year
With over 600 films released in 2008, there were bound to be some bad apples. The year started off with a 300 parody titled Meet the Spartans, a film which only received a 2% on rotten tomatoes. M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening, which opened on the 13th of June, became the director's first R-rated film. It had everything going for it, but as audiences would soon find out, nothing is really happening. After taking a 5 year break from the screen, Mike Myers returned in The Love Guru. The film failed to gather an audience and was out of the top 10 within two weeks. The nominees for Worst Film of the Year are:

Like a boomerang, he's back again: <b>PeterPanfan</b>

<center>Best TV Drama</center>

PeterPanfan: Of the four series nominated, each belongs in its own category. "Desperate Housewives" is about the struggle of six women living in the infamous Wisteria Lane. Each woman, though most are close friends, has their own personal struggle, usually relating to the big problem of the season.

"John Adams", the four part miniseries starring Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney, was about the famous historical figure, and second President of the United States, John Adams.

"One Tree Hill" is next, and while the demographic for this show is teenagers, the characters transitioned from high schoolers to college graduates in one season, after a four year leap. The main characters of the show: Lucas, Brooke, Peyton, Haley, and Nathan, are all leading their own lives, though are all intertwined with each other.

Lastly is the newly cancelled "Pushing Daisies." This whimsical show was about a pie maker, Ned, who, with the touch of his index finger, could bring people back to life. But with each blessing is a curse: The person could only be brought back for one minute, and if they are alive any longer, someone else will die, which is the case when Ned is brought upon a childhood flame, Chuck, who was suffocated on a cruise ship. All four shows are fantastic in their own right, yet only one can win the award tonight.

<center>Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series</center>

PeterPanfan: The five nominees in this list of best supporting television actress are all extremely talented actresses. First up is Alyson Hannigan, who provided us with one of television's greatest characters: Willow Rosenberg, the high-spirited lesbian witch, from TV's Cult Hit, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Portraying Lily Aldrin Eriksen, Hannigan is just as great and hilarious in this role as she was on Buffy.

Dana Delaney, the newest addition to the "Desperate Housewives" women, first served as the mysterious Katharine in it's fourth season. Now five years later, she is a great friend to all of the women, Bree especially.

Next is Jean Smart, who plays Samantha's mother, Judy, opposite Christina Applegate on ABC's sitcom, "Samantha Who?".

Next is Judy Reyes, who plays the head nurse at Sacred Heart, a teaching hospital, in ABC's "Scrubs."

Last, but certainly not least, is Sarah Polley, who portrayed Abigail Adams Smith, John Adam's first born child, in the miniseries, "John Adams."

<center>Best Supporting Actress in a Film</center>

PeterPanfan: The "Best Supporting Actress" category this year includes nominees that have appeared in a wide range of films, including drama, comedy, musical, and action. Starting with Amy Adams, who co-starred in "Doubt", a film that has been nominated for "Best Picture." Amy Adams is featured as a young Catholic nun coping with the gruesome rumor spreading throughout a Christian school.

Next is the hilarious Julie Walters, from "Mamma Mia!", who went through a vast transition from loving and caring mother, Molly Weasley, to hip and wild friend opposite Meryl Streep in the musical comedy romp of the summer.

Kim Cattrall, from the movie sequel to the hit HBO television series, "Sex and the City", is next on the nominees list, playing the outspoken, sexual, and hilarious Samantha Jones.

Maggie Gyllenhaal, who took over the love interest role from Katie Holmes, was featured in "The Dark Knight. Many preferred her over Holmes, saying her acting was superior and more believable.

Finally comes Viola Davis, for "Doubt." For the ten minutes or so she is featured in the film, the impact she had on the audiance was captivating, as the struggling mother who just wouldn't give up.

Once again, please welcome to the stage, <b>PeterPanfan</b>!

<center>Best Comedy</center>

PeterPanfan: The contenders for this year's "Best Comedy" award all stand out amongst today's generic comedies, and are all also hilarious, but that's a given. "Burn After Reading" leads an all-star cast including such famous faces as George Clooney, Tilda Swinton, and Brad Pitt. The movie is about a former CIA agent who decides to write a memoir about his days at the agency.

"Forgetting Sarah Marshall", starring Jason Segal and Kristen Bell, follows the trials and tribulations of a romantic relationship.

"Mamma Mia!", the only musical in this list, follows Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried, Streep playing the mother, and Seyfried playing the daughter who is about to get married and has no idea who her birth father is. Colin Firth, Pierce Bronson, and Stellan Skarsgard play the three hilarious possible fathers.

"Sex and the City" the "chick flick" of the season, is a sequel to the hit HBO TV show of the same name, depicting the lives of a group of Manhatten socialites. Starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis.

"Tropic Thunder", the "wild" comedy starring Ben Stiller, Jack Black, and Robert Downey, Jr., follows three actors filming a fictional film set in Vietnam.

"WALL-E", the only animated nominee. The movie is about a robot, WALL-E, who discovers that he, along with another robot and his love interest, EVE, are the only people...er, things...left on Earth.

blackcauldron85: When you listen to a song on the radio or a CD, you can only imagine the artist performing the song. But when you go to a concert, you actually watch the artist performing the song. What a concept! I mean, you think that an artist is just a voice, but then, lo and behold!, you see that the artist is actually a person. The artists nominated for Best Concert Tour of the Year had some extremely successful concert tours in 2008. Many people went to the concert expecting to hear songs that they know, but did they expect to learn that the artist is really a person? In the flesh? Yes, you say? Oh, okay…

Congratulations to Amy Grant, but I'm disappointed. No offense to Aaron or Amy or anyone who voted for her, but really? How many people here saw her on tour...versus Miley or Jonas Brothers? I personally wanted Hanson to win, but Aaron and I are probably the only ones who nominated them...I'm just confused. Did not many people vote in this category? I don't mean to be whiny or a sore loser, or anything like that- I'm genuinely confused and wondering how many people actually saw Amy on tour. Nothing against her again, honestly, but I thought that we'd have more JB or Miley fans here...or even Kelly Clarkson...I'm so confused!

But, congrats, Amy Grant!
