I think after seeing that pin, it gives me the idea that it probably will be another kickoff for a celebration for the parks or the company. Especially since 1923 was the year that Walt Disney came to California and launched the Disney company, as goofystitch said earlier.

I think I'd be willing to bet this being it. Greek Organizations in college refer to establishing years as their charter year. for example, my fraternity was founded in 1911 on my campus. That makes 1911 our charter year. Perhaps that is the angle they are going about it. The fact that Oswald is also featured on the pin points to this assumption as well.

Here is a link from another thread on this forum. It's a photo of a page from an insert in the upcoming Pinocchio Blu-Ray.

Well I've submitted my E-mail, but it seems like a bit much for advertising an online community. Besides, the fanmade community sites are way better than the official ones, IMO, anyway.

Oh no! It alsmost looks like they're trying to take over sites like UD. I mean in the sence that it looks like they are trying to creat a online club/forum/facebook/community...

From the WDW News Today website (www.wdwnewstoday.com):

It seems that Distant Creations has uncovered the following information about “D23″ or “Disney 23″ in a magazine put out early by accident at a book store:

The mystery behind Disney’s “Are you 23?” viral question is quickly unraveling leading up to the March 10 reveal date.

At least one Barnes & Noble store has put out the new quarterly “Disney Twenty Three” magazine a few days earlier than they were supposed to and DC blog reader Joseph has sent me the details about it.

A membership to the new D23 fan club includes:

A membership card with a personalized charter member certificate with characters drawn by David Pacheco
A surprise collectible gift for D23 members from the new Walt Disney Archives collection
Exclusive special events and merchandise opportunities
Discounted admission to the D23 Expo on 9/10-9/13/09 in Anaheim, CA
That’s right, an official Disney convention for fans will be taking place in or near Disneyland from Sept. 10-13, 2009, one day after the 40th Anniversary event for The Haunted Mansion. Note that being a member of D23 only grants you discounted admission, which means the event will be open to anyone willing to pay to attend.

The new magazine costs $15.95 and comes out four times a year. The premiere issue’s cover contains a photo of Walt Disney looking through the camera and the back cover is black with a quote from Walt that reads, “It seems to me that we have a lot of story yet to tell”.

Articles inside the photo filled 12″x12″ glossy magazine include:

The Disney Archives
The Anne Liebovitz photo’s article
Through Tim Burtons Looking Glass
The Suite Story - Disney Gallery & Castle Suite
On top of the World - cooking article
Finding Pixar
UP
Sleeping Beauty Reawakens in the castle
Writing the Next Chapter- Book article
Little Mermaid on Broadway
Spirit of 23- About Walt & company history
I just checked my local Barnes & Noble and there was no sign of the magazine yet, as it’s not supposed to be placed on newsstands until March 10 when the official D23 announcement is made at the Disney shareholder’s meeting.

Alright, now I’m officially excited. Not only do we finally have an official Disney fan club, another official Disney magazine, and exclusive merchandise; we now have confirmation that there will be an annual fan convention and explanation as to why the annual pin event at Epcot was moved away from its typical September weekend. Noticeably, the report does not note how much annual membership in the club or attending the D23 Expo will cost, but we will know that information for sure March 10 when all of this information is made public by Disney. Be sure to stay tuned to WDW News Today as we gather more information on the exciting “D23″ club.

Thanks for shedding some info on this! The club sounds intriguing, but the magazine interests me even more. It's like a return of the Disney Magazine, only more geared toward Disney fans. I'll be definitely picking up a copy of it when it hits the shelves next week.

That sounds REALLY sweeet. I'm ofiicially sold.

Now to decide if I should go to Iron Maiden's first show in Florida in 13 years next month or the convention in September for my birthday.

The tommy2.net homepage has a picture from either the 23 magazine or website: (highlight to read what the picture is of...I don't want to spoil anything for anyone) Zac Efron as Prince Phillip and Vanessa Hudgens as Aurora. http://tommy2.net/content/index.php

It's supposed to go live at 10 AM tomorrow, and incidentally Disney will be holding a stockholders meeting at 10:30, too.

Oh, this is fantastic news! I was extremely upset when Disney Magazine got cancelled, even if it was a shadow of what it once was. This sounds like it's bringing back the glory days of that and then some. I'm insanely excited for the Alice article. The preview StitchKingdom put up shows us our first concept art piece (Alice in the hall with the little door) and our first (official) still (Alice peering down the rabbit hole), even they blurred it out so as not to spoil. I'll definitely be picking this up tomorrow, and will subscribe to the membership to see what goodies may await me. I'd love to go to the fan convention, but that's not a possibility for me at this point, so the real draw of this club for me is the magazine and the exclusive merchandise.

I am so thrilled about the leaked news. I am nervous, though because I don't get paid until Friday and can't pick it up until then. I hope it's not hard to find by that point! I really am looking forward to this.

Maybe they'll make an announcement about adding dumbo and alice to the platinumeditions, Ijust gout the idea of dumbo from an article someone posted.

My mom might see if the Disney Store has this tomorrow (apparently there is one near Atlantic City, where she is right now). I would really like to see this as I am a subscriber to no magazine and if I picked one, I think this would be it.

I was watching the countdown get to 0 and when that happened, all of the numbers went negative and its counting backwards now. Anybody know why? It won't let me sign up. :(
