I think Disney and Bruckheimer should reconsider the Summer 2011 release date. Virtually all of the good release dates have been snagged by rivals already.

The only good available release date right now is May 26, 2011. But that comes a week after Thor comes out, which in itself comes two weeks after Spider-Man 4. Pitting it in a July 8th spot (between Transformers 3 and Harry Potter) would be commercial suicide.

Unless a big-budget production can't come together quickly (like Thor and Transformers 3), Disney should save it for Summer 2012, regardless of what Bruckheimer wants anyway.

I'm looking forward to seeing the first skull teaser poster for this one.

It's not the early film that gets the money; it's the well-marketed film in the August release slot.

This will be exciting news to talk over lunch Monday at school... but I don't know. I didn't like Pirates 3. It was okay, better than a lot of other stuff, but not as good as 1 or 2. So here's hoping they fix that with this movie.

There are some rumors floating around that the story might be based off of a novel by Tim Powers. In that novel the protagonist fought Blackbeard. Here is a link I'm getting the info from, and yes, this is a pretty reputable site as far as movie news goes.

It looks like they definitely based it on the book. Wich in my opinion is a really good thing. It has supernatural elements, an amazing treasure (The Fountain Of Youth) and an awesome villain (Blackbeard). I'm now highly anticipating this.

Excellent! thanks for the clip. Johnny is probably the only actor that dressed up and has done a live performance.

Disney and Bruckheimer see $$$ for a May to July 2011 release date. It's a shame, really. I have a feeling Disney could release this pic in April or August 2011 and it'll still make a ton of money.

The competition, on paper, is going to be tough. You either face the dilemma studios faced in 2007, where the Three '3's faced off within the same month. Or something like last year, where 'Prince Caspian' suffered from having Indy 4 open a week after it and suffer from other rival movies getting more repeat business.

El Guapo over at Latino Review did some detective work and talked to the agent of Tim Powers, whose book, "On Stranger Tides" shares the same name as Disney's upcoming Pirate film. She didn't say much, but what she did say means that Disney is either adapting or using part of the book as the premise for Jack Sparrow's new adventure.

So, it appears that Cap'n Jack may face a new villain. First he faced Barbossa, then Davy Jones and now... Blackbeard. Check out the exclusive report at the site right here. Which is stranger? Truth or fiction?

I'm looking forward to Pirates 5 when it will be based as a remake of 1982's The Pirate Movie. Johnny proved his singing chops in Sweeney Todd, so maybe Jack Sparrow will be the new Pirate King!

Excuse me? I felt that was going a little too far, PatrickvD. Did I say anything about not seeing the fourth film because it was based on a book? You're treading on dangerous ground here. Don't presume to put ideas in my head.

Once I found out that Will and Elizabeth most likely wouldn't be back, I thought, How can they do a movie without two of the established main characters? That's why I might not see the fourth film. Just like with The Mummy films, I don't consider the Scorpion King Duology part of the canon because it focuses solely on one minor character from the second film. Same here. Not all of the main characters are coming back, so I don't feel that On Stranger Tides would be part of the main series. Do you get my drift?

Disney might actually be thinking to replace Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow with a differ actor playing him.....okay because this is a Disney site and the thought of this idiotic lame brained idea I am just going to say this....
