If you have Toon Disney now, you'll get XD. If not you'll need to talk to your cable or satellite provider.

Chernabog_Rocks asked:
1) Will I be able to get this channel in Canada?
To my knowledge, Disney does not own any networks in Canada. They do, however, partner with Family Channel (owned and operated by Astral Media), which plays lots of Disney Channel original programming. My guess is that some of the new programs that are being launched on DisneyXD (Aaron Stone in particular) will probably start airing on the Family Channel in a few months.

If Aaron Stone is a hit there is no doubt in my mind that it will be added to Family. The only question is when and if.

I am most excited for:
UmbrellaFish wrote: American Dragon: Jake Long
Even Stevens
The Famous Jett Jackson
The Legend of Tarzan
Phil of the Future
Phineas & Ferb
Suite Life of Zack & Cody
And "The Replacements" to an extent.
"Aaron Stone" does seem cool, though.

I am most, super-excited, though for "The Famous Jett Jackson". I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this show!!! I was hoping that it'd be shown on Disney XD, since the guy who made that show is doing "Aaron Stone". I am so pleased. UmbrellaFish, you made my day! :)

I'm surprised that "Kim Possible" isn't on the list, though...I think that that'd fit right in with Disney XD, since Kim is a tough girl, ya know, one that boys and girl can feel good about watching!

Ah, Gargoyles was added. Goodies. I'll miss W.I.T.C.H., but hopefully this means that the now "girlie" Disney Channel can put it on their schedule, at least on late nights, like the rest of their cartoons.

Does anyone know if they plan on making it a digital-only channel?

We have analog cable right now... and I think a fair number of analog channels are moving over to digital when the DTV transition happens (darn that Congress for pushing the date back!)
I seem to recall an ad on Toon Disney saying something about it becoming digital exclusive, but we still have it on our cable. I know WideOpenWest converts a bunch of stuff themselves (they do a pretty horrid job of converting the digital local channels to analog... panning and scanning, cropping tons of the picture off), but I'm kinda curious if anyone knows about this.

(On an off-topic note about digital cable, was it only WOW that took TV Guide Network off of their basic cable plan? Granted I'm not paying extra for that "interactive TV guide" BS they want to sell me because Wii + Internet Channel + TitanTV.com is an interactive guide... but I was curious if it was a decision at TV Guide Networks to yank the cable channel or if it was just my ISP/cable provider.)

Even though this has been addressed many times already...

If you already have Toon Disney in your programming, you will receive Disney XD. If not, you'll have to contact your locas cable provider.

Production Under Way on Disney XD Original Movie

http://www.mickeynews.com/News/DisplayP ... E_499Movie

It's interesting (but not surprising) how Disney XD is using its own stars for its TV movies just like how Disney Channel uses its own stars for its DCOMs. The plot definitely sounds like something for boys...I mean, girls will watch it, too, but little boys like aliens! lgm

Thanks for the news, Amy. I'm glad it did well, but those numbers sound so low to me. 305,000? That's nothing compared to Disney Channel. I have never read numbers for what Toon Disney brought in, but reportedly Disney XD has done better so far.

As for Zeke and Luther, I tried to watch it and it didn't hold my attention. I had high hopes since I am such a big Even Stevens fan, but I found this show to be stupid and hard to sit through. Aaron Stone at least held my attention for the first 4 episodes.

By the way, what is going on with Aaron Stone? It's first season was only like 10 episodes. Has anybody heard if they will do another season? They still replay it like crazy.

I noticed the other night that XD is showing re-runs of X-Men Evolution. I'm glad, because I missed so many episodes of the last season (where it finally started to get at its best).

Knowing that Disney's original goal for XD was to appeal more to young males, does anyone have any idea how that's working out for them so far?

Disney XD renews 'Zeke'

Well, Brandon, this sentence from the article I just posted the link for might help to answer your question:
"Zeke" launched in June with the highest-rated primetime debut among kid demos in the 10-year history of Disney XD and its predecessor, Toon Disney: 305,000 in kids 6-14 and 183,000 in tweens 9-14.

Cable channel shift reflects Disney's boy trouble
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090902/ap_ ... een_boys_1
(via LaughingPlace.com)

I'll just post the highlights if you don't feel like reading the whole article:

A funny thing happened on the way to remaking the Toon Disney channel into one that catered to "tween" boys: It got a lot more popular with girls...

Now Marvel is expected to bring more superhero power to Disney XD, adding to the 20 hours per week that Marvel content already runs on the network...

Disney XD also is rounding out its schedule with "I'm in the Band," a sitcom, set to air in October, about a teenager who joins a washed-up '80s rock band that moves in with him and his single mother. When a reporter visited the set recently, crews were shooting a flashback scene that explored an event from the rockers' irresponsible past — when they swung at a pinata in their van.

"It's doing a show about rock 'n' roll without the sex and drugs," said executive producer Michael Kaplan. "There's the whole fantasy of being in a rock band, but there's also just the fun of being a kid with these three crazy idiots who are just making his life chaos, which is just a very boy-friendly thing."

Here in Malta I get the UK variants of Disney Channel and Disney XD. Disney XD only just launched here, and interestingly it replaced Jetix. Most of the programming seems to have remained the same - basically Disney XD-branded Jetix shows.

I was hoping that Disney was going to remove Jetix shows completely.

This sounds like one of the most offensively bad shows ever.

Hmmm... now that Spetacular Spider-Man's run is likely over, it looks like I'll now have something else to watch on Disney XD. :P
