That makes me want to cringe... or maybe cry.

At least the 2-disc sets should.

List updated again today to reflect the BB news. It's a shame. They finally start to maintain some consistancy with packaging for their SEs (if not with name) and now this.

slip covers

I suggest you to buy the DVDs as soon as they are released, this way you have many chances to get the slip covers. That's how I use to do, I pre-order or buy them in the 1st day or 1st week-end, so I'm lucky enough to have all the slip covers.

You know, I wish some of you were as enthusiastic about quality extras as you are about packaging.

I don't know, but maybe Disney has decided not to use them anymore. Maybe they're cutting costs, and this is an easy way to do it.

I personally think they should only use slipcovers if they open up like a book and tell you about the extra features, like Beauty and the Beast and Alice in Wonderland did.

I agree that was really cool and nice. But some stupid had to cancel the open book thing to save money. Well if they just made good movies then they wouldn't need to save money :x

You know, I'm not terribly surprised BB doesn't have one, and I wouldn't start thinking Disney has discontinued the slip-covers either. Why? Because almost every slip-cover was for re-releases - it helps in marketing to those who already own a previous issue. Sure there are a few exceptions, but I think Disney mainly likes to use them for new editions of already released films. Perhaps they felt a slip-cover wouldn't make much of a difference marketing-wise for BB. I wouldn't fret too much - after all, the Mary Poppins cover sure looks like a slip-cover to me.

And as Luke said, the content is what really matters, right?

Right click on the picture, scroll to properties and look for the original URL link and go there.

That's an awesome SW collection's edition set, Mystique! Where did you get? And why was it only 1 disc?

Disney US had a nice idea with the slip covers but it's the only clue that tells you if the DVD is considered as "collector" or not, and if Brother Bear doesn't come with one is a shame ! With the quality of the DVDs you should have an appropriate packaging matches it !

That's why, I think that Disney US should sometimes presents its DVDs in digipacks, especially the 2-disc sets, just as in Europe. For some titles, I prefer the slip covers and for others, the digipack presentation (the French of Peter Pan is awesome and the Snow White one, not as good as the British one, but pretty good -- picture above !) , but a 2-disc set in a standard case, it's too bad. I don't even be able to turn myself towards the European sets of Brother Bear 'cos the movie will just be a single-disc set (even if the contents of both US DVD will be included) and it will be presented in a standard single DVD case.

Well, it's a long shot, but perhaps Brother Bear doesn't have a slip-cover is because Disney are already planning to revisit the title in the future.

After all, it does seem to be missing galleries and a proper commentary. Who knows?

Here's the UK one.
