Glad to know there will not be any motion capture. This is exciting!

Thank Christ, his wife, and the guys who decided to revive hand-drawn animation at Disney. :)

I'm pretty glad that we won't have performance capture in this, or CGI for that matter. This has truly made me more receptive to the idea of a new Roger Rabbit film. :)

It's good they decided to use traditional animation and not resort to using motion-capture or CGI (Which would've REALLY ruined the sequel) for the cartoon sequences.

Now, let's just hope they come up with a good script.

Yes!!! Zemeckis will finally be putting away his motion-capture toy-box and even if it's just for one film, at least it's for this one. Also nice to see Spielberg will be executive-producing, as he was one of the major reasons why Warner Brothers allowed Disney permission to use their characters.

If the script is great, this should be a more-than-worthy sequel. Though I wonder if Richard Williams will come back. Zemeckis was definitely important in getting the film-noir styling of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, but Williams was the one who pushed for the cartoon-human interaction to look more seamless as well as actually having the camera move.

Glad to see this is still going to happen, and will be filmed in a similiar fashion as the original. Here's hoping it will be a worthy sequel to the original.

Oh, man, this is getting me excited! We're talking about a sequel to my favorite film of all time! If this keeps going in the right direction, this is going to be a more anticipated film for me than even the new Star Wars or Indiana Jones films were, and that's saying A LOT from me! I am going to freak out the day this comes out (if things keep sounding good, like the film not being all motion capture), and if it's great, I may have a coronary! Damn, I wish I could meet a gorgeous single girl who loves this stuff too before then, ha!

YAY! I'm so glad they're going back to basics on this one! I still don't understand why anyone would have even thought about making this using Mo-Cap. I mean, the whole point is live-action meets 2D animation, so anything else would be weird. Thank heavens they're doing this the right way.
Hey, what sort of cameos do you think we'll see this time around? I mean, IDK if they can get the rights to the WB/Fleischer/etc. characters again.

Ugh... *another* sequel from an 80's film.

I've given up on Hollywood completely.

at least this has somewhat excuse as original Roger Rabbit book DID have a sequel. I'm not much for the sequel, remakes, spinoffs, etc fad Hollywood is going for but I'll make this one an exception.

I agree with Super Aurora: they've been thinking of making a sequel for a long time...I have 100% faith in this project, which is not something I usually can say lately with sequels or remakes.

Has anyone seen this?

It's a pitch test for Roger Rabbit 2, made in 1998.

Yeah, I saw that this morning but didn't have time to post.

He didn't look as bad as I was expecting; I had read that the CG test [but I guess not this CG test...?] had been horrible. But I would prefer him to be hand-drawn...but not bad.

The 2D version of this test can be seen at the very end of this.

Also, listen to this for more info about how it was done, why, and why it would have been prohibiably expensive to use this method for a full length feature.

Basically they had to create new models for every pose, using traditional animation as a base, which would just isn't practical at all.

Now THIS I'm confused; first mo-cap, then live action, then mo-cap again!? Then again, maybe Bob didn't hear about Zemeckis using live-action instead of mo-cap for the sequel. I'm still hoping live action.

Zemeckis Confirms Roger Rabbit Will be in 2D and Live-Action (no mo-cap)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ricik6_ZHo&NR=1

I think due to the fact that A Christmas Carol was deemed unsuccessful and Zemeckis' studio ImagaMovers Digital which produced his mo-cap films was shut down, along with Bob Hoskins' strong critique about using mo-cap for the sequel must have changed Zemeckis' mind about the mo-cap thing and he's now willing to do it in live-action/2D.

I don't see how they can properly bring back Judge Doom, unless in flash-backs. As much as he was an excellent villain, I would like to see a new antagonist.

I also find it hilarious that the article refers him to as "the Santa Buddies star."

I stumbled across an old article/interview about the abandoned Roger Rabbit prequel and found the story quite engaging. What do you think?
