Where in the world are you seeing Voldy or the curtains? Am I not seeing something? Well, on the childrens picture, Ron and Hermione are obviously helping Harry in some way. Maybe find the horcruxes? No, it's probably too dangerous. I don't know, I'll have to think about it.

I didn't like the cover art too much at first, but it's growing on me, like a fungus. It's pretty plain, but it looks nice.

i'm dissapointed with the cover. i wanted it to be red but at least the title is red. but the style of te book reminds me of one of the covers for stephan king's Relgulaters/Desperation.
what i see in the covers,
US COVER: Harry looking at something with excitement? on his face with his palm facing the sky with the fake or real Sylerian locket around his neck. looks like he's in a collosium or something similar with people around him and in the lower right i see what looks like a log?
Edit: i just noticed the link on Mugglenet.com for the full image, i'm going to finish my thoughts. it wasn't a log but broken beams with stone at the bottom of the image. at the far right and left is a curtain with the left one being tattered. also on the left is a cloaked Voldemort probably about to cast a spell at Harry.
UK CHILD COVER: a scared and ugly looking trio being sucked into a window or wall with alot of treasure around them. maybe a test to get a Horcrux? on Harry's back i see a goblin holding a sword. on the left side of the cover is Hogwarts with dead trees to the left of it. for some reason the doors are open as if waiting for someone. maybe Dumbledore's ghost? it's a strange starless sky. wonder what's going on here.
UK ADULT COVER: Slyerian's locket.

I'm likin the cover! Ah, they still haven't shown us the full illustrated image of Voldemort in his glory (will it be within the book?) but I can live with what we have.

The cover gets me really excited for a truly epic book. The cover put me off a bit at first, but then I realzed that I didn't even know what I thought it should look like!

Thanks for the link. Well, it looks to me that Voldy and Harry are after something, possibly the last horcrux. From what I've heard is:

SPOILER POSSIBLE:

that Harry is the last horcurx. He is the last horcrux because for Voldy to save himself after killing Lily and James, weak and tired, he implanted part of himself, I think part of his soul, into Harry so that he could live. And the after mark of putting his soul into Harry is the purpous for the scar. So, in order to kill Voldy, Harry will have to sacrifice himself in order to kill Voldy.

At least that's what I've heard/think. Opinions?

I've just looked at the pictures and found something interesting:



These are obviously the same thing, but what could they be? I don't really remember the 6th book, at all, but didn't it mention something about a necklace that someone took awhile ago? Remember, I don't remember the book that well, so I might be wrong. So this "necklace" is possibly a horcrux, possibly not. If you notice, there is an "S" on it, possibly for Slytherin. It may have been made at the same time as the diary from Book 2. What could this "necklace" mean?

The whole "Harry is a horcrux" has been tossed around for a while, but JKR would never leak that kind of information, so it is only a rumor.

There is a locket mentioned in Book 6. It was the locket at the bottom of the potion-filled bowl that Harry and Dumbledore went to find in the cave. However, when they found what they thought to be the locket, they found a note inside from R.A.B.- a person many fans think to be Sirius' brother, Regulus Black. If the lockets on each cover are the same (they could be different) and they are supposed to be the locket found at the end of Book 6, why does Harry have it? It is no longer a Horcrux, so what purpose does it serve?

Another thought crossed my mind: what if Harry and Voldemort are trying to catch the same thing? Maybe something out of the picture is falling/being thrown towards them, and they both want it.
I find it very interesting that the two of them are facing the same direction and holding their hands up.

Also, are they outside? It looks like they might be, but then they could always be inside a room in some wizarding location. I think they are behind the veil from Book 5 (the one that Sirius fell behind). We know the veil had curtains- the picture has curtains on either side. The vague outlines of people(?) suggest to me the people that Luna and Harry heard whispering behind the veil.
I have a very strong feeling that's where they are. But what's with the scraps of wood everywhere? And the archs? Could they possibly be other veiled archways?

The cover is just beautiful on the U.S. cover -- very evocative, emotional, and stylistic. Mary Grand-Pre just outdid herself with this one, but I was thrown off by the color scheme by the final book -- mainly oranges and browns. Maybe it's to throw off readers who expect an upbeat ending or maybe it is hopeful and optimistic. Either way, it's gorgeous.

this might sound stupid, but it really looks to me like they are playing quidditch. i know that you don't see either of them on a broom, but that is how i've ALWAYS seen harry reach for the snitch. perhaps? just a thought...

i personally think the cover is amazing.

...and on a random note, does anyone else think that the UK childrens cover looks like Harry and friends are inside Scrooge McDuck's money bin? Perhaps one of the horcruxes is Scrooge's Number One Dime! BEGIN WILD SPECULATIONS!

It's too generic. If they make it simple because they don't want to reveal the story, don't release it to the public!

As said in the DVD world: Only the binding shows on the shelf anyways and the cover isn't seen at all.

But still, Mary Grandpre needs to redraw the cover...this isn't just ANY book.

On Mugglenet.com or The Harry Potter Lexicon, it was confirmed that there wasn't any Quidditch in the 7th book. Then again, that doesn't mean that there won't be any brooms. I've never thought about Quidditch since those sites said there wasn't going to be any in the last book. But hey, at least Umbridge is coming back!

I don't knw if this has already been mentioned, but to me it seems as if there are people/shadows/ghosts standing in the windows of this circular room, thing, whatever. And I think this might be the room where Sirius died. The one with the veil.

Could the sword that Ron is holding in his hand on the UK cover be the Griffindor sword from Dumbledore's office that Harry pulled out of the sorting hat in CoS?

It's a possibility. I do see jewels, which where in the sword, but I don't see an inscription on it, which the sword does have. I don't know, it could, it could not.

Look over Harry's shoulder, its Dobby holding the sword. It looks the same sword to me.
