In announcement news today, Buena Vista has set The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: Friendship Edition for release on 6/19 (SRP $29.99). This is, as you know, the character's first ever feature film, featuring the classic stories The Honey Tree, The Blustery Day and Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too. Extras will include a bonus episode of My Friends Tigger and Pooh, The Story Behind the Masterpiece featurette, the A Day for Eeyore short, the 100 Acre Woods Challenge interactive game, The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers sing-a-long, the film's theme song performed by Carly Simon, an art gallery and the Pooh's Shadow Disney's Story Time feature.

Sounds good to me (except for that bonus episode)!

It looks like they're cutting the pop-up trivia track. Can anyone confirm that it will (or won't) be part of this release? I'd much rather have that than the "bonus" episode.

Everything from the 25th Anniversary Edition will be ported over. So yes, the trivia track will be on the Friendship Edition.

I saw a commercial for that new WtP series, and it looks kinda iffy, but that's probably because I would never watch it in the first place.

The press release mentions nothing about a trivia track.

Is this release definately going to be fullscreen? I was hoping for a widescreen transfer like Robin Hood's re-release.

Actually the fullscreen is the film's correct aspect ratio, since the 3 segments were all previously released like that as theatrical shorts.

I saw the shorts a while back and while I thought they were cute they are a bit too simple to be considered masterpieces.

If it wasn't for Tigger and Eeyore, the whole thing would be a bore for me.

Again, its cute and solid. Its just surprises me that the series got this much recognition to the point where its a worldwide franchise.

BTW, I DO like the different character archetypes seen throughout the franchise. To the point where I made a character chart comparing real life characteristics to the Winnie the Pooh characters.

Here's what I mean:
Pooh: Represents the lazy, sloth yet very lovable and caring person
Piglet: Represents the extremely shy and insecure person
Tigger: Represents the fun loving and hyperactive person
Eeyore: Represents the constantly depressed, emo person
Owl: Represents the arrogant and pompous yet very intelligent person
Rabbit: Represents the stiff, obsessive compulsive person

Maybe that's the reason the characters are so popular. People can easily identify with them because their character traits are so apparent.

Let's make this clear. Is the Friendship Edition going to be in widescreen or not? If not, then I'm sticking with my Region 2 disc. It's fine as it is.

Oh? I think Disney's WTP is a true classic. I love the naive, yet witty and clever humor of it. The song lyrics always make me laugh. For mind over matter has made the Pooh unfatter. Brilliant.

Why? I think it's supposed to be in the 1.75:1 widescreen.

The Press Release says it's going to be in 1.33:1 fullscreen, and as far as I know, the Press Release is more reliable than you.

So I've got a chace to buy the 25th anniversary edition for 5 bucks, disc, cover art and inserts are all in great shape. Should I pick it up, or wait for the Friendship Edition?

For five bucks hell yeah! Plus, you'll retain the Pop-Up Trivia Track, which isn't carried over to the Friendship Edition (unless you'd rather have an episode of "My Friends Tigger & Pooh").

5 bucks!! Absolutely you should get it! For that price, you can still get the Friendship Edition too.

YES!!! IM SO EXCITED!! Winnie the Pooh: Friendship Edition is almost here!! I'm almost as excited as when TLM and Peter Pan were coming out on DVD! I haven't seen Winnie the Pooh in a long time, so it will be fun to re-watch it. It's also exciting because June 19th is the last day of school for me :)

Despite its exclusion on the press release, Pooh's Pop-Up Fun Facts <i>is</i> included on The Friendship Edition.

are we getting a new transfer or the same one? if it is going to be the same then i c no reason to upgrade to this edition.

So has anyone done a price check? Like what stores have it for what price? So far the lowest I've seen was 15.99 at Circuit City.
