While I do understand why you might be upset, I honestly do not think Eric's sarcastic remark was cause enough for him to be called an "ass".

Individually no, that one sarcastic remark wouldn't merit being called an "ass", but as a whole, if you take into consideration PE's attitude and words in the majority of his posts, then yes, I would think it was cause enough for someone to say he is an ass, at least IMHO. Wonderlicious said it best in one thread:

Just a friendly reminder that among the things that are acceptable targets of verbal assaults are "movies, plays, TV shows, books, celebrities, and public figures, opinions, arguments, ideas." You'll notice that "other forum members" are not among that class. This is nothing new - it's always been one of the few regulations upheld on this forum. There appear to be two mild infractions of this rule in this very thread. I won't point fingers, everyone can tell with ease who is responsible for them. I also won't take a side in the matter.

Whether it's explicitly calling someone a name or a more subtle attack which undermines the character of a fellow poster or posters, such an act contributes to a negative atmosphere and really doesn't belong here. Don't hesitate to voice an opinion. At the same time, don't try to be tactful and get around this basic rule with semantics. Let's aspire to intelligent discourse rather than feeling-hurting and name-calling, please.

People in glass houses really shouldn't throw brick walls, and for many good reasons. You making the "too bad Prince Eric won't listen" or whatever remark could easily be rendered as a comment from a true Eddie Murphy-Shrek charcter. I'm glad LittleMerman's comment at least showed a little sympathy on my behalf. I can't say the same for you, except your true colors showed, and they're no better than mine.

We have nearly 3,000 forum members and yet the "Read this" sticky in General Discussion has less than half as many views. Counting multiple visits from the good people and robots, I'd wager less than a third of our registered users have read our guide to posting.

Well looking at his top 10 of 2005 list, with the exception of Wallace and Gromitt, the rest of the films I will probably never see much less like.

Well some of us here like his top ten list. Yes, I diagree with some (Crash being the major one) but again, most of them I agree with, especially The New World, Munich, and Squid and the Whale.

I guess you wouldn't like my top ten list too much either: 1)Howl's Moving Castle 2)Munich 3) Narnia 4) Capote 5)Walk the Line 6)The New World 7) Geisha Kong 9) The Squid and the Whale 10) Batman Begins

I like Narnia, Walk the Line, Kong, and Batman Begins. A much better list than Prince Eric's.

That's really not anyone's problem except yours. Your loss. My list reflects my tastes, which is a reflection of someone who tries to see every major release. Obviously, you are not going like my list because you DO NOT see everything. Nothing wrong with that, but if that's the case, am I really the one that's close-minded?

Hardly anyone here but you sees every major release. Considering there are almost as many days in the year as there are major releases then there isn't the time for most people to see every major release. Us who do not have endless time and money like to spend what we have on what we might actually enjoy.

More power to you, but don't disparage others who like more than mainstream releases.

An English version of Hunchback would have me jogging all the way to NYC to get there opening night.

I wouldn't mind seeing some of the older classics make it to Broadway. Such as Snow White, Cinderella, Pinocchio, or Alice in Wonderland; I think they all have real potential.

Pete's Dragon, of course. That would be amazing on stage.

Nah, just kidding. I think either Mulan or possibly a classic like Pinocchio would be perfect for Broadway. Pinocchio has some of the most memorable songs of all time, so there wouldn't be a problem there. The only thing that would be difficult would most probably be either Jiminy Cricket or Monstro. Either way, a good choice.
