Makes me think he listens to the band play all the time on the radio on Slate's property and drools all over it like a fanatic. He'd give anything to be part of it and eventually realizes he'd have to literally give up Tod to do so. Spends the movie trying to figure out what he wants most and what he's willing to lose. Tod probably spends a good deal of time moping around, turning to Big Mama, while Copper keeps to himself to sort out his feelings. Look forward to comparing my thoughts to the actual movie. :P
Let's not forget the plotless comic relief of Dinky and Boomer as they fail miserably at trying to chase Squeaks for our B story

Wouldn't it have made more sense if this movie had been a sequel to Oliver and Company where the Company tried to be a successful band in New York City?
