I am an iPod virgin ...

And I heeded everyone's warnings on here about waiting for the next generations of iPods before getting one ...

And I am glad I did!

I really like the 80GB classic ... but wow ... touch screen :) ... That is sooo frickin' cool!

80 GB = 40,000 songs right?

How many songs would the 16 GB iPod Touch hold?

And ... other (sorta silly but hey I'm an iPod virgin) questions ... If I ordered my 80 GB Classic ... Does that come with the proper connections (USB cable) so that I can upload what I already have on iTunes to my Classic?

And ... does it come with the proper cord to connect the iPod to my car? Or would both cables be an ad-on purchase that I would have to make?

Yay! I think I am finally getting an iPod!

Ah, virgins are so fun! LOL!

Okay, I'll answer as many of your questions as I can.

80 GB iPod Classic will hold up to 20,000 songs and up to 100 hours of video, or any combo of the two.

160 GB iPod Classic will hold up to 40,000 songs and up to 200 hours of video, or any combo of the two.

8 GB iPod Touch will hold up to 1,750 songs and up to 10 hours of video, or any combo of the two.

16 GB iPod Touch will hold up to 3,500 songs and up to 20 hours of video, or any combo of the two.

The iPod Touch series is very similiar in features to the iPhone, but, without the phone service. Also, the iPod Touch will have Wi-Fi access, and will be able to access the Wi-Fi iTunes Store, where you can download songs without having to connect to iTunes via a computer, unlike the iPod Classic.

Any iPod/iPhone product will come with the connections necessary to sync up to iTunes on your computer. They do not come with any connections to hook up the iPod to your car. That will be an additional purchase you will have to make.

I, myself, am really considering the 16 GB iPod Touch. I don't need some insane amount of storage that the iPod Classic line offers. Plus, since I have access to Wi-Fi at home, and near where I work, I would be able to make use of the Wi-Fi features of the iPod Touch! It has me very excited. I currently have a 2 GB iPod nano (first generation), but, I'm ready to make the leap beyond the nano line!

Sweet! Just calculated it, and by October 19 at the latest, I should have enough cash for the 80GB iPod classic. And - I have my video enhancer, so any DVD I own I can copy onto an unprotected DVD and put it right on there. Holy schnikes, I'm excited! :D :D :D

Cheers,

Hm...

I'm already tempted by the 160GB iPod Classic even though I have the 30 GB 5th Generation version...

Well I am so glad that Apple has announced these because I was going to get one of the older iPods otherwise. I really can't decide between the new Nanos, the Classic or the iTouch. They're all so cute and cool, I don't know which one to pick! I'll probably get the iTouch since it's the newest and coolest, but the other two are pretty tempting.........

I have a question in which I can't find the answer. How can you transfer music/video from, say your mothers laptop to another computer? I've tried many ways in what I have seen from different websites, but I can't seem to find an answer that actually works. If you could help, thanks?

You could burn them on DVDs and transfer them, or connect the two computers together via USB and just copy it.

Wow! Those new iPod's are already out. New one comes with a touch screen, just like an iPhone.

In addition to that, Apple has new selection of iPod's like the iPod Nano with video and the new one called iPod Classic, it has 160 GB's of video and music storage. You can add up to 40,000 songs onto your new iPod classic.

As for my iPod, I do have a 3rd generation iPod with 20 GB of music and even file storage. There was no video and photo on my iPod, because it did not appear in future updates, but it does have a screen looked exactly like a Game Boy graphics or text. The 3rd generation iPod has four buttons and a click wheel.

That model was made back in 2003, but it's almost 5 years old. I got it for Christmas a few years ago, it was still the original before the video and photo.

As for the new one, I don't need to get one, but I still have the 3rd generation iPod and it still works.

Although they weren't scheduled to be released until the end of September, the iPod Touch has been showing up at Apple Stores and other retailers, such as Best Buy.

Dang! I wish I had the money saved to pick one up, now. I'll have to wait at least a few more weeks before I can buy one. I'm itching to get my hands on it!

Well, my 60GB iPod I got last May (thats 2006) broke and the Apple people say it will cost $200 :o to fix it. So, sadly I'm saving to get the new 160GB Classic which I hope will last longer.

Well, I was going to get wifey one of these iPods for X-Mas last year, but we only had Windows ME and it won't work with that. (I know, we're STILL an operating system behind!) Now that we have XP maybe I could look into getting one of these things again?

I've tried it in stores, and I'll admit that the interface is cute. Personally, though, I'd prefer a Classic. They're cheaper, have much more space than either model of the Touch, and according to the iLounge reviews have better sound quality. Also, what's the point of having a widescreen iPod when it barely has enough space to store an adequate amount of video content (not even taking your music collection into consideration)?

I'm hoping the Touch-style iPods will prove to be a better buy in the 7th Generation, but I'm not going to bother with this one myself.

Of course, these aren't the only iPod discussions, as others ask "What's on your player?" or "Which should I get? IPod or (some other brand)"
