While we were making dinner, we were watching Pearl Harbor on ABC, then I asked if I could put in a DVD, so I got one from my room and put it in:

Phantom of the Opera. I had been meaning to watch it, and tonight was an opportune night to watch it, and quite simply, I was WOWED by it. Completely wowed. Brilliance captured on film. I don't see how some people didn't like it. Of course, maybe some of them were comparing it to the stage version, which I haven't seen yet.

scary, iut freaked me out the fast sceen changes that the director used

King Arthur (Dorector's Cut) - I have the movie so I decided to watch it again on Saturday. I still like it. I would have done some things differently but it's good enough entertainment for me.

Sahara - Bleh. Well to be honest I could barely stay awake during it on Sunday morning but that could have been because of work. What I did remember seeing of it I didn't find too enjoyable. It had its moments but for treasure seeking fun I would rather watch an Indy movie.

Sleepless in Seattle: Love this movie! I've seen it a bunch of times but my bf had never seen it before. We bought it at Game Stop for $5 and had a little date night. He really liked it!

Time Machine (2003) - Pretty good movie. I have been wanting to see if for a while now.
Ring 2 - First was way better.

Being that my wife was out of town for the weekend, I was able to watch 8 movies that came in the mail last week. Four of the movies were part of the Bela Lugosi collection which had some great horror stuff. (Actually should been called the Lugosi/Karoff collection but that is beside the point.

Black Friday – Boris Karloff saves this “B” horror as a mad scientist, SPOILERS who narrates why he transplanted a brain of an English professor into a noted gangster. (Yes pretty goofy stuff here.) Impossible to take too seriously with all bad gangster clichés, Boris is able to hold this movie together by obsessing on his experiments and finding the lost gangster money (If you are going to buy the Bela Lugosi Collection, mad scientists come with the territory.) 5/10

The Invisible Ray – Complete bad effects, Frankenstein stock footage, and Tarzan-like portraying of African natives, Boris is again an effective mad scientist who discovers a new element in Africa. (How he comes to discover the meteor hitting Africa is a complete hoot.) SPOILERS. When Boris finds the new element, Radium X, he gets radiation poisoning so Bela creates an antidote. The antidote makes Boris paranoid so he goes on a murdering spree and it is up Bela stop the madness and save the virgin. (With Universal horror like modern horror, the virgin women always are spared.) 6/10

The Black Cat – You would expect the weirdest Universal horror film to be directed by none other than Edgar Ulmer. The set is a great mixture of old style European castles and modern architecture. But the highlight of the film is the dueling mad scientists played by Bela, who is only slightly mad, and Boris, who is a completely mad Satanist. Boris hairdo makes him look like an aging member of Flock Of Seagulls. Also, this movie uses German expression horror techniques more effectively than any other classic Universal horror film. 8/10

The Raven – Nothing to do with Poe, outside of the fact, Bela Lugosi plays a mad scientist who is obsessed with Edgar Allen Poe’s poetry and love of torture devises. But I am sucker for Bela as a hammy mad scientist, and he does not let you down. (Boris is effective in his supporting role.) Effective use of German Expression helps create the mood of doom throughout the movie. (Bela fits the mad scientist role like Charlton Heston fits into overlong hammy Bible epics. LOL Alan.) 9/10

I'll bore you details of Chinatown, Barkeys of Broadway, Follow The Fleet, and The Lady Vanishes next couple days.

I really like this movie A LOT. It is a movie that makes you keep a smile in your face during it.

And the funny part is that nothing much really happens on it.

Kind of reminds me somehow Bambi in the pacing and somehow the mood.

Plus is very beautiful and you just want to spend more time on it, with the town, the characters... they're all so nice.

I watched Phone Booth on TV. I liked it but I need to rent it because they ruin the movie editing everything and with all the damn commercials.

I saw the new versions of both Ocean's Eleven and The Italian Job.

Now I suppose I should watch the old versions now, just for the sake of comparison.

Wel I was sort of confused during it since I know next to nothing about 'Final Fantasy VII'. Still it had some interesting moments. It's not for those who know nothing about the game. (I thought I was the only one but 99% of people I know have nevewr played the game either)
