I'm not whining, but I gotta say,as a Japanese guy, I am sad that the first 'Japanese' main character had to be a Japanese American. I hope there's a good reason to it.

I thought it was ok...I dunno, not really wowing me. But i thought the same of the Frozen teaser trailer with Sven and Olaf. The first promos are always heavy on the comedy to attract the boys. Though in this case they didnt have to make up new stuff like with Frozen b/c Big hero 6 just naturally lends itself to funnier moments that are conveniently already in the movie.

Also Fred will probably annoy me, but I could already tell that from his design...

I do wish they just kept the Tokyo setting rather than "San Fransokyo" so I understand that complaint. I guess they wanted to create their own unique world, which could be fun.

But since it is in that hybrid world of "San Fransokyo," having the character be of mixed origin is fitting and relatable to a lot of American kids in today's society, which is the target audience unfortunately.

At least Gogo seems fully asian, though I actually think she looks less Japanese than Hiro, maybe because she resembles Mulan a bit. The trailer is great, much better than any of the Frozen, Wreck it Ralph, or Tangled ones. The humor feels more natural.

You know the villain Yokai kind of reminds me of Amon, the Big Bad of the first season of The Legend of Korra.

New Japanese Trailer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pK8Sqxf ... e=youtu.be

here's a translation I did.

words: “A boy lost his beloved older brother”
narrator: “His name is Hiro”
"His older brother, Tadashi’s keepsake arrives to the lonely boy"

Baymax: “Hello”
Hiro: “Who are you?”
Baymax: “I am Baymax”
Baymax: “I protect (your) heart and body”
Hiro: “Baymax huh?”
Baymax: “Tadashi made me”
Baymax: “From 1 to 10, how much does your heart hurt?”
Hiro: “Leave me alone”

words: The newest film from disney, the creator of “Frozen” and “Wreck-it Ralph”

Baymax: “I will protect you unconditionally. That’s Tadashi’s wish”
Tadashi: “Save everyone, along with Baymax”

narrator: “However, Hiro didn’t know the real mission Tadashi gave to Baymax”

Baymax: “I don’t think this is necessary for a air-robot”
Hiro: “Try it”
Hiro: “Nice Baymax!”

words: “Baymax” (Japanese title for Big Hero 6)

Baymax: “Good boy”

words: “Can kindness save the world?”

Baymax Manga coming:

And omg, Baymax is going to be one of my favorite Disney characters...I just know it. I heart him so much. (I have looked a couple times on Google Images and just can't find it- does anyone have a link to a picture of non-suited-up Baymax from the Marvel comic?)

To be honest, I wasn't particularly overwhelmed by the trailers. They were passable and nothing else. But I'm still going to give the movie a shot.

I am REALLY hoping Disney keeps the cast for Giants a secret like this. If the cast for Giants is just as perfect as Frozen's and pretty unknown like BH6's, it'll definitely be worth the wait. And it makes the wait so exciting.

Gonna be a long wait though & by that leaks will happen & spoil things. I'm expecting a lot of official info for Zootopia/Giants at next summer's D23. We should get tons of info for Zootopia & maybe a very small piece for Giants.

I have to admit I'm always more excited for films that are either fairy tales or have some degree of magic involved. My interest in the other films has pretty much followed their order: I was much more interested in WIR than I am in BH6, and I'm much less interested in Zootopia than BH6.

According to this:
For one thing, they both have a hero called Jack, and Giants named for the Fee Fi Fo Fum rhymes. In this story, these names are abbreviations of Feebus, Fifen, Fogel and Fobert, a family of giants at the heart of the tale. There's another brother too, Faustus, their leader. Like all good villains, he's got a relatable point of view, he's just not quite joining the dots correctly......

But, okay, it's not the humans that get the title billing here. It's the giants. The Storm Giants. Huge, thunderous figures.

In this story, the Storm Giants have made a pact with the humans. If the humans work for them and give them a percentage of their harvest and livestock, they'll return the favour by keeping danger and threats at bay. At first, it must have been appealing to have a Giant agree to fight your corner, but the people aren't getting enough for themselves now.

One of the Giants is actually a good guy and befriends Jack. So, the movie revolves around the friendship.

I'm going to guess that Faustus is going to be voiced by Tom Hiddleson or someone just like him. I would love to see Bertie Carvel (From Matilda the Musical. I had a huge blessing to see him in it. Amazing actor!) voice him.

As I have stated before, I would personally love to see Kevin McHale voice Jack, perhaps with Samantha Barks as his Angelina.

These are my choices for Giants. As you can tell, I'm thinking about being a casting director for WDAS. :)

Eeehh I don't think Giants sounds that appealing or interesting myself. Maybe after viewing a few leaked images my mind might change, but for now...

I dunno BH6 seems interesting and I always liked superhero films, especially since it seems this film is going more for a comedy route as opposed to all the late superhero films which have been so dark and serious (Nolan, I'm looking at you).

Now it's funny where's Super Aurora in this thread? Isn't he a big superhero/marvel fan? Lol

I like how more people are giving BH6 attention and seem to have growing interest in it. There are still tumblr naysayers who keep on trying to come up with reasons as to why this film is an abomination, but they're a very small minority, and if Frozen is any indication, they'll probably go see and love this anyway. :P
