I don't remember all of the changes, but I know that some crocodiles in "I Just Can't Wait To Be King" were redone. It's the kind of thing that I NEVER would have noticed if they hadn't been pointed out to me. As a result, it really doesn't bother me that much, but some people get really bent out of shape over it. It's like the clip of Lumiere that Marky posted. He acts like it's the worst thing ever, but I never even knew it was different until today. I guess I don't scrutinize each film with a magnafying glass (or watch them more than once a year).

Like goofystitch said, its probably so minor that you wouldn't notice unless someone pointed it out (unlike BatB, in which I immediately felt something was off but it took me a while to notice it was the color). Quite frankly, I like the gold Disney castle logo more (suites the film) but feel all films should have their original openings reinstated. I also like the new waterfalls more. I could care less about the changes to the crocodiles. I find it stupid that they changed the stars because some people think it says sex, which only admits it was a problem to begin with, same with Genie's removed "Take off and go" line and the priest's removed nee cap in Mermaid. The only thing that bothers me is the fact that they call it the OTV, same with BatB, but it really isn't. The false advertising is more annoying than the changes themselves.

Isn't false advertising against the law?

Hello Albert,

Well I'm not going to do my usual multi coloured rant but , seriously , I cannot understand why in a format such as Blu Ray that has the facility to allow a much greater amount of content to be stored that the editors/compilers of this important Blu Ray have decided to delete a sequence that lasts a mere thirty seconds when it would have added more to the nastiness of the Witch's character , it just doesn't make any sense!

They've also deleted a second sequence of a fight between two of the Dwarfs ( Doc and Grumpy ) over Snow White staying! Why? Both of these sequences were on the original Platinum Edition DVD , and yet this was supposed to be the most complete "definitive" version of Snow White - it just seems to be a lost opportunity!!!

However that said I'm still looking forward to seeing my favourite movie in a crisp new transfer!

If you had read my entire post, you'd have seen that I felt the same way.

I was just poking fun at the fanatical response someone might do if a mere 30 seconds was added to the film instead of available as a deleted sequence. (Of course, I'd be against it too for likely similar reasons, but I wouldn't be so "OMG, the movie is ruined!") The fact that it was multi-coloured and with bold/italic/underline was partly an homage to your posts, as I know even you would be sensible enough to not make claims like "It's sacrilege to bastardize the film with an extra 30 seconds!"

Actually according to the dvdmg review, that sequence is available as an extra in the "Sweat Box" section.

What annoys me most is that more essential material like the camera test footage and live-action reference footage is dropped. I can take or leave deleted materials, but if I had to choose between camera tests or a deleted bit of animation to carry over, I'd pick the camera tests.

And the absence of trailers is standard for Disney so I'm not gonna bother complaining.

As I understand it, you go from section to section to watch featurettes, but I don't know if there's a "play all" option that just lets you watch it as a straightforward documentary.

From the DVDmg review, I figured this must be the order for a "play-all' documentary. I removed the three "In Walt's Words" featurettes and the three "Host" segments as those seem more to be standalone material than a chapter of a documentary. Altogether, this version of a documentary is about an hour and 37 minutes, give or take...

Man, is it too late to buy the steelbook preorder at Best Buy?

I went yesterday and couldn't find any of them. Got me the 1937 vintage poster with a copy of The Love Bug though, and I'm, probably going back soon to get the 1958 one with The Happiest Millionaire.

I'll chime in right now since my review won't be ready till either Saturday or Sunday. There's no "Play All" feature. At all. You have to access each individual clip, which makes the experience really tiresome. I'll go into more detail on my review, but I'll just confirm right now that because of all these little vignettes, Snow White has no real, all-encompassing "making of" documentary. The closest it gets is "The One That Started It All," and that's more of a praise-fest along the lines of "Celebrating Dumbo." Don't get me wrong, this set as a whole is very well made, but I was still disappointed, especially in comparison to the 2001 PE. That's as much as I'll say for now since I don't want to spoil my review. Stay tuned...

Ah, thanks, Kelvin. That does sound irritating, and I hope Disney doesn't do this in later releases.

Oh poop, I didn't know they omitted test footage and TRAILERS (damn I love those classic trailers). The Sleeping Beauty Blu had test footage, deleted scenes and trailers and its weird that this so called definitive release is missing those key elements that made the Sleeping Beauty Blu so wonderful. I would complain more if I wasn't paying only $10 for this HD presentation

I'll actually be at the dentist on the day that "Snow White" is released here in Oz...planning on buying it that day as a perk-me-up present; because my dentist always finds something...

...I'm finding less and less incentive to ever buy this, really. The hi-def transfer, great, but everything else? Sounds like a let down.

I think I've missed something. In what add campaign did Disney ever say that this Diamond Edition was the "definitive edition?" I have never heard Disney claim this to be the Snow White release to end all Snow White releases. Think about it. If the restoration is now as perfect as it can get, being free of artifacts and colors restored to their original intentions and in 1080p, there won't be a need for them to do it again in 7 years. So how will they get us to buy it again? By withholding some bonus features from the last release to throw on the next one in addition to new features. It's sad that everything wasn't ported over, and I agree that some of them seem too big to be left off, but Disney is a business and they count on fans like us to buy these films over and over again in 7 year intervals. For the majority of us, this is not the first time we've bought Snow White. Did you really expect it to be the last?

And even though there is no "play all" feature on the Hyperion Studio Tour, every review of the Blu-Ray so far (and every member of Blu-Ray.com's forum who got it early) are absolutely raving about the feature. So why is the absence of "play all" such a major issue that people are no longer excited for it? It's supposed to be an immersive and interactive experience. Not a put-the-remote-down-so-you-can-pig-out-on-your-Lay's-sour-cream-and-onion-chips-passive-viewing. Spare your remote the unremovable grease and eat those chips during the movie.

I never said I became unexcited for it, just that it's a bit of an irritation. When I sit down to watch a DVD, with the exception of still galleries, I don't want to have to rely on menu navigation every 5 minutes, especially if it's a series of featurettes that could (I assume) seamlessly work together as one documentary.

After all, "play all" isn't exactly rocket science for DVD or Blu-Ray authoring, and surely Disney could have included the option, especially as they had it on DVDs that involved some form of "exploration" version of special features (Atlantis, Pirates of the Caribbean, Aladdin, etc.). It's more of a convenience thing than a reflection on the actual feature.

Yes , I agree about the test footage , Marjorie Belcher ( now about 90 or 92 !) who later became Marje or Marge Champion who was the model for Snow White was at the D23 screening of the new print of Snow White apparently on a Discussion Panel before or after the screening!
How I wish I'd been lucky enough to have been there !!

There is a photo ( a frame of the Rotosoping Film ) of a character model for the Wicked Queen , but it says unknown actress - suely someone must know who was the actress , and although there is a heavily made up actor playing the Witch , having seen the 1935 A Tale Of Two Cities with Lucille La Verne as La Vengeance , I'd always thought that Miss or Ms La Verne ( in her character makeup I mean !! ) had been the inspiration for the look of The Witch or Peddler Woman!
