Smallville - Season Two

MUCH better than the first season! My favorites continue to be Lana Lang and Chloe Sullivan, and Lex is awesome too. Most of the other cast annoys me, to be honest. The plots were better and more arc-driven this season, which is a lot better than the frequent monster-of-the-week plots of the first season. Christopher Reeve was great in his guest appearance, and I've heard that he comes back later, so that's good. Season 3 is supposed to be the best of the first three, so I'm excited!

I'm still in the middle of Brisco County, but I watched The Dana Carvey Show for a break.

Also, I watched a couple episodes of The Gorgeous Tiny Chicken Machine Show ...

Just finished Murder, She Wrote season 3 and starting on season 4.

Just spent the last couple of weeks watching 'Allo 'Allo - The Complete Collection in stages - I finished the last disc on Sunday.

Roswell - Season Two

I don't know if it's better than the first season or not... let's just say that it was completely different. It felt like a different show, even. The first season more more light-hearted and had more stand-a-lone episodes, but the second season was much darker, almost too dark, and the whole thing was basically one arc. There were major character deaths, character's leaving, characters returning, relationship troubles, familial troubles, etc. Liz, the main character of the first season, was pushed to the background to allow Maz, Isabel, Michael, and Tess to step forward and take the spotlight. I'm gonna say it wasn't as good as the first season, but I'm still excited to see the third and final one.



Gossip Girl - Season Two - The first was better, duh. The second was still really, really good, though. Blair was my favorite this season, followed by Jenny. The rest, except for Serena whom I really liked, weren't that great. The Chuck/Blair relationship is my favorite of the show, and I'm really glad it developed even more this season. One of my favorite characters, Georgina Sparks, returned this season for three episodes, and I hear she's in it even more in the third season! I LOVED the "Valley Girls" backdoor pilot, and wished an actual show could have been made about it.

My overall thoughts on season two can be summed up in one Georgina quote: "Well, you can tell Jesus... that the bitch is back."

Yep, it's from the same writers (Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft)

It's a very funny series (but you have to watch the series from the start, as the show is a continuous storyline)

A bit more funnier than AYBS though.

True Blood: The Complete First Season

I had heard people talking about this and had caught tiny snippets of it here and there when it was on TV and thought I'd give it ago so I asked for the boxset for Christmas and only just got around to watching it now. I became addicted very fast and I can't wait to watch Season Two! The storyline and the character's were very compelling, and the twist at the end of the series was very entertaining. I would definitely recommend people to at least give True Blood a try, though I can see how it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea

Six Feet Under - Season Five

Whoa. I am at a loss for words. This season was outstanding, and the finale was just completely phenomenal. The best send-off to a TV series I have ever seen, period. Before I go on (and on) about the finale, I should probably talk about the season as a whole.
Seasons 3 and 4 were so slow-moving and boring, and season 5 really turned it around and restored the quality to its original brilliance like that of the first two seasons. I enjoyed everyone's storylines - Ruth coping with all the stress she had to deal with over the course of the season, Claire finding a new love, David and Keith's struggle to adopt or have kids, Brenda's pregnancy and possible complications from it, and, ultimately, Nate dying.
The final three or four episodes of the series were extremely powerful, and they all centered around Nate's AVM attack in episode 8, which eventually led to his death in episode 9. The finale was just so powerful. I like how it gave the audience a real sense of closure, as you got to see into the future, to see glimpses of all the main characters' futures, and eventually their deaths.

I would totally recommend this series to anybody. It really makes you think about things and had the perfect finale.

I watched Friends season 5, 6 and 7 over the March break.

Smallville - Season Three



Yeah, it was definitely the best out of the first three. The first season was plagued with too many monster-of-the-week plots and too little arcs. The second season had too much Clark finding out about his superpowers, and while it was needed, we definitely needed a break. The third season focused on not just Clark, but the whole cast. The relationship between Clark and Lana was not cookie-cutter. It had problems, problems which they faced and tried to work out together, but ended breaking them up for good. Chloe was pushed to the center while Pete was pushed to the side, thus causing him to the leave the series. I'll miss him, but I heard he makes an appearance later in the show, so I'll look forward to that. My favorite character continues to be Chloe. She's pretty much a replica of teenaged Lois Lane, except she's not Lois. The Fake!Kara was annoying, and I'm glad it turned out not to be her. I enjoyed Ian Somerhalder as Alex, and was sad that he wasn't featured in it as much as he could have been. The re-appearance of Jonathan Taylor Thomas was great, as well as Perry White. All in all, a great season with a FANTASTIC cliff-hanger. I'm taking a break from the show, but I definitely look forward to Season Four.

Trust me when I tell you, don't get your hopes up because it won't reach even half the level of greatness season 3 was. But also trust me when I say, hold those expectations for season 5.

Lets just say, season 4 is a mess. And a huge one at that. It lacks direction or focus, or any resemblence of continuity for that matter. And everything it lacks, season 5 more than gladly makes up for.

The Simpsons: Season Five-a case of FFF.
EDIT: anybody else here actually like the style of the menus? next to minimal animation with mostly sound effects and no music is a very different design for DVD menus.
Heroes: Season Four-The series got some of its old mojo back. The ending was at least a good one.

I think they are WAY better than the menus from season three and season four.

Getting back on topic with the, well... topic, I watched the first episode on the Star Trek Season One Blu-Ray (Episode: The Man Trap) and I think it is an interesting series so far.

I also watched it with the original effects.

Arrested Development - The Complete Series

It took me months but I finally watched the whole series on Hulu. I must have had shit in my eyes as I don't remember this being on TV. I was busy watching The O.C. steadily go down hill instead of this far superior show. It has to be the funniest show I've seen since Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm, while being an entirely different, more-intelligent humor. The continuing story arc, well written characters and steady dose of humor really makes this comedy stand above others. A lot of the humor lies in knowing the characters as opposed to irrelevant jokes or random violence that todays comedy's rely on. The series is solid all the way through, drags a little at the beginning of Season 3, but ends pretty well with all things considered. Maybe they mismarketed it or under-marketed it, I didn't watch it while it was on TV, and the consistently low ratings means many others didn't either (surely if thy had seen it they would've loved it). I'm not sure why FOX cancels so many more good shows then any other station but I really hope the rumored movie turns out.
