My impression of Zegler is that she's trying to brand herself as being "just one of the peeps," which makes sense given her origins as a YouTube star. The kind of performative self-deprecation that has a clear bend to make the actor seem more "down to earth" has been around for a while. Jennifer Lawrence marketed herself in a similar way back during her Hunger Games days, which worked really well for her for a time, but eventually it just made people turn on her as well. It's a real firecracker way to market yourself as a celebrity, but it is what a lot of people respond to. I honestly don't think it's a terrible way for a public figure to present themselves. It's not any more or less artificial than what people like Timothee Chalamet or Jeremy Renner do.

Even my legitimate gripes with what she's doing to market this specific movie--namely her whole schtick about how she can't wait for us to see how she "fixes" one of the most enduring characters of all time--aren't necessarily even her fault. This remake was probably set as a "girlboss" version of Snow White well before her involvement. It's an attitude that long predates her participation. I don't know if she should have to answer for decades of shallow Disney Princess criticism.

I also just generally feel uncomfortable with dogpiling on celebrities, even celebrities I "don't like," especially when their transgressions are more just them being annoying as opposed to them being genuinely morally reprehensible. The limelight isn't a terribly kind place.

You fools making me defend any part of this movie ... :glare: :glare: :glare:

The problem here is that people is not Happy with her and they are not Happy about the changes made in the movie too so if you mix all this stuff you have a disaster as a result. Let's see how much this movie makes in the box Office. I think that this movie is going to be one of the last live actions movies.

I hate the ableism in this movie, they tried to not be ableist by not casting little actors but ended up being more ableist by taking the only roles Hollywood offers them.

Also if Snow White and the Queen actress are both mediterranean (Rachel is half Colombian but her colombian side is of spanish origin and Gal is straight up from Israel and even if she wasn't Jewish people are mediterranean) they should make the kingdom mediterranean themed instead of Germanic like the original, makes more sense.

The live action Snow White had a test screening a little while ago.
I heard it was one of the better disney live action remakes and is carried by Greta Gerwig’s script and Zegler’s singing.

I was told it is like the live action Cinderella in its scope and magic.

The dwarfs are now like the merry men and they hide out in a cottage in the woods so the queen doesn’t find them.

The films starts with flashbacks to Snow’s childhood (at least in the cut that screened but it could be moved).

Gal Gadot has a TON of outfits and her acting is almost “theater like” and over the top dramatic.

The huntsman has more of a role and there are lots of new songs including one that was called “Waiting for this wish” and they keep a few of the original songs.

Somehow I missed that Greta Gerwig penned the screenplay. Wonder if that will make a difference following the success of Barbie.

I was about to say, I’d forgotten Greta Gerwig was writing the script. I wonder if the trailer will mention the Barbie-connection?

I’m really disappointed Disney did not give little people actors opportunities by casting them as the seven dwarfs. I think that really mars the film. I also know that musically I will hate this as I have hated pretty much all of Pasek and Paul’s work— but they are generally popular, so they might produce a viral hit for the movie.

I still can’t believe how faithful the Snow White costume is. I’m still waiting for the penny to drop and it’s revealed that she only wears that dress for a short portion of the movie, or it’s some kind of joke within universe, or she rips it off in disgust at some point. It’s just… no Disney heroine in any of these remakes has come away with such a literal interpretation of their animated costume. It looks like a Halloween costume.

Someone asked on Twitter about how many gowns Rachel wears in the movie and It seems that she Will have only 2

I hope the outfit doesn't look quite as bright in-film--the colors are closer to the Princess Makeover Clipart from years ago than the original film--but the dress looking like SW is probably the best thing about this so far aside from Gadot and P&P. Zegler will probably be passable since her voice is pretty and thecrole doesn't require the dramatic chops she lacked in Maria. What's bad is the red hood and the Dwarf outfits. Now we have to wonder which songs have been cut.

The dress has more problems than the colors. It doesn't have a pretty form, the skirt seems very rigid and the fabric looks very cheap.
The fabric that they used for the skirt has a patern on It but It doesn't resalt too much. The neck looks very small and It doesn't have relief. That makes the bodice looks like a Halloween's costume.

Zegler has all but confirmed that "Some Day My Prince Will Come" is not in this vision of Snow White, so probably that.

In that same vein, I don't know if they'd bother keeping "I'm Wishing" or "One Song."

Nah, I don't think SDMPWC will be one of the cuts, it's the princess' main theme. I do think there will be another song that counters it, but otherwise... Unfortunately, I can see I'm Wishing/One Song, which is a shame considering it's the best one, then probably With a Smile and a Song, The Silly Song, and The Washing Song.

So, yeah, like another poster said a page or so back, I think this one will do even worse than TLM.

If I had to guess, considering how much the original is being disparaged, I would say Heigh Ho is the only original song that will remain. We may hear some of the others, but ONLY as instrumentals.
You guys will have to let me know, as I have absolutely no plans or desire to submit myself to this travesty.

I personally never intended to see this one in theaters like with the '90s remakes (even if they weren't making so many poor decisions), this one's streaming-only for me. Hercules will be the next remake I see in theaters.

I'm still waiting to see a trailer for this. But I think this will be the first theatrical remake I won't see in theaters. I will literally only see it for Gal Gadot.

I will see in this in theaters for the little bit of good they do with the queen, magic, and perhaps some more of that stuff the test screening said was good. My problem with Snow White's outfit is the bad slashed sleeve rolls and lack of any more sleeve rolls or a bodice that looks more like it's over the skirt, and just the lack of a fancier bodice in general. And the awful colors. The bandits on the other hand look completely unsalvageable.

What could they change about the ending? Maybe in this version Snow White stays with the non-dwarfs and refuses to have a relationstip with the Prince?
I'm affraid that they make this...

Seeing Greta's movies I bet that this Will be the end. Maybe they are trying to modernize Snow White because she has been one of the most criticized princess of all time bit honestly if people want to watch a modern Snow White version they can watch Kristen's Stewart movie.

The set design sounds very charming. I try to take early reactions with a grain of salt, though.
