What's up with the framing of the dvd for this set?

I finally watched everything...and boy what a dissapointment!

I think Disney thinks they just need to make people aware the film is coming out again and they'll buy it, regardless of if it has good or well-related bonus features or not!

The best thing about this release was the alternate opening and the beautiful, creative menu! Almost nothing else really had to do with Cinderella! What did ever happen to that bonus feature about Cinderella Castle anyway?

The alternate opening was interesting in it provided Cinderella as mimicking her stepsisters, giving her more personality, and that she also considered not staying with them but running away! But why did she say the reason she didn't run away was she had to much to do? Couldn't she run away from what she "has to do" as in she doesn't have to do it? What did she mean?

I tried to do the Bibbidi-Bobbidi-You bonus feature, but I only got as far as typing in my name and having the whole storybook read to me by the Fairy Godmother on my TV. I didn't see the two images of Gus I was supposed to either. So does anyone know what's wrong? What do I need to do? Playing the full bonus feature is one of the only things that could make this release worth it!

In all fairness, what kind of bonus features do you think Disney could do, given that everyone who worked on the film has already passed away? Also, there is probably so much archival stuff Disney has for a given film (Snow White has an unusually high amount of material around it, I assume, because it was the first and a huge milestone).

As someone who owns the Platinum edition and isnt into HD, I have no reason to buy this release. The one thing I resent Cinderella not getting is an audio/visual commentary like Sleeping Beauty or Alice in Wonderland got...

What else could they have added to this release?

Plenty. There's a lot in the archives that are held off of releases. Artwork, Pencil Tests, Song Demos that somehow didnt make it to the DVD. Old interviews and publicity. A lot has possibly eroded, but Disney on average keeps tabs on just about as much archival material as they could and then select what goes on the DVD/Blu-ray.

They could actually probably make a feature-length documentary out of some of the material they have.

How do you know they have all that stuff? Were they included in the laserdisc or something? Or have you been to the Disney Research library? or maybe you saw it online?

I just have notices that the DAC from the 50s thru the 80s are very light on bonus material. I dont think thats a coincidence.
The 5 films made between '37 and '42 have plenty more, probably because they were much more of a novelty then.

Now... when a movie from the 80 or later is light on bonus material... that's inexcusable... (here is looking at you, Lion King)

So what would I expect for a proper release?

More storyboard to film comparisons of major scenes, pencil tests for some major scenes/animation, more deleted/alternate versions of scenes, and a commentary.

I have a Blu-ray player and a PC, and Bibbidi-Bobbidi-You didn't work for me. I just got read the story without getting to play the games. I never saw the two Guses I'm supposed to see when starting the thing. What do I need to do to set up or whatever to play all the games?

Has anyone spotted the 'new' Cinderella in DisneyLand yet ? I thought she was supposed to be making the rounds at about now??

Her new dress is really cool! I don't like her new hair that much but could be worse. They didn't turn her brunette or anything.

Yay!!! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I do wish "The Dress My Mother Wore" and "I Lost My Heart at the Ball" were in the movie, though!

Also, I think there could have been more that could have been added to this release. How about The Music Lesson scene with Professor La Poof? Or, the alternate ending where Cinderella meets the prince after the slipper fit? It's pretty obvious they pulled the alternate opening out of nothing, so I'm sure more could have been done!

I know I'm late in replying, but take a look at the Alice in Wonderland Laserdisc. SOOOOOO much more material that didnt make the DVD or Blu-ray. Same to lesser extent with Beauty and the Beast and Lion King among others. Also, have you seen the pictures of the ARL(Animation Research Library)? HUGE filing cabinets compressed for space with millions upon millions of paintings, drawings, and other things for each movie.

Well, as I understand it, most of the stuff missing from the ALice dvd that was on laserdisc is deleted audio (songs).
As far as the research library....isnt most of it the original paintings of the backgrounds, the rough and cleaned up animation drawings? Maybe the cels?

I;d love to see more concept art for the earlier films, or maybe pencil tests.... but the main thing is substantial making-ofs and commentaries (IMO)
