I caved in for Lion King's Iron Pack, thank goodness it's a 3 disc holder, very majestic looking.

I don't how many theatres are doing this, but I checked my local multiplex to see the show-times for The Lion King 3D and the first showing will be in 2D, strangely enough.
So, for those who want to see The Lion King on the big screen (again), but hate 3D, it looks like Disney might be sending out 2D prints as well.

I doubt they would even need a separate print. Just turn off the other eye's image, probably though the projector's software

My theater is doing the same thing. They are only doing 4 shows a day, but 1 of them is 2D.

It'll be interesting to see how well the 2D showings do. I'm thinking Disney is only doing the 2D ones to see if people are seeing the Lion King because its in 3D or just because it's the Lion King.

I know my neighbor was hoping that Disney did a 2D showing too, so she could take her daughter to see it. I'll have to tell her.
I think its great that 2D is still an option. Its the same transfer as the 3D, but not everyone can watch 3D.

Hey, um....
Can if anyone has screencaps from the Blu-ray and the 2003 DVD, could they post 'em for comparison? I'm up for getting the Blu-ray, but I wanna see if there have been any improvements made.

I've heard that Morning Report is not seamed into the movie as an option I think. It is now a bonus feature of a deleted/alternate scene, which in my book that's good. I didn't hate Morning Report, though I did find it unnecessary, I'm glad it came with the original options. Although hang on to your DVD of the Lion king. I wouldn't get rid of mine at all. I'm getting the trilogy, and since Best Buy has that iron-pack case that fits 3 discs, I might get a couple to fit the blu rays of the sequels and dvds...or I'll probably end up buying a multipack dvd or blu ray case to house the discs in. and print off some cover art or something...
And the fact the reason I'm going all fan-boy on this is probably because The Lion King is my favorite hands down DAC of All Time. I'm taking my fiance to see it Friday. I'll also see if there is a 2d being offered at the theater I go to, since I want to see it in 3D on the big screen and if it's possible, 2D on the big screen.

That's great to hear! Glad it's included as a special feature but I don't want to have to "opt out" of seeing it, I'd rather "opt in"! And I certainly don't want to see it in 3D this Friday.

That I think I know for sure that Lion King 3D that will be in theaters does not have the Morning Report in it. I pray to god that I'm right and Morning Report isn't in theaters or I might start booing on Friday

I think I'm going to see The Lion King in 3D next weekend sometime. It is kind of exciting to see a DAC in theaters (especially the top grossing one, without inflation, of course). I really don't want to see it in 3D, but the person(s) I'm going with do want to. At least it's still TLK. I'm kind of excited for it even though it'll probably cost like $15, which I think is ridiculous.

Me too. I really wish they'd just re-release the DACs in theaters every 7 years (?) or however often they used to be re-released. I have most of the DVDs but I'd honestly pay to see them (2D!!) in theaters. Nothing like that experience! I'm a 1991 baby, but seeing the late 1990s re-release of Little Mermaid in theaters is one of my favorite movie theater memories.

The fact is that hardly anybody wants to see these in the movie theater, when they can watch it at home. For a while, the only way to get audiences back for the same movie was to alter them in any way (Star Wars Special Editions, Apocalypse Now Redux, E.T. 25th Anniversary) but even that isn't really profitable anymore. And with audiences already getting tired of 3D conversions, these re-releases won't last that long either.

Hey, I don't know if this had been mentioned yet, but I was on the Movie Tickets website and it says that the 3D version is two minutes longer than the 2D version. So I'm guessing that the 3D version will have the Morning Report while the 2D version will be the original film. Still, the Morning Report isn't very long and it's not that annoying. I'm still planning on seeing the 3D version.

I think that's a mistake. The Morning Report is not in either theatrical re-release, 3D or 2D.
Anyway, I read that The Lion King is outselling every other new release this weekend, so it will easily land the top spot at the Box Office. I hope it makes a lot of money so Disney will finally release some more of its classics to the big screen.
There's so much CGI trash now, I think people are ready to be reminded what great entertainment there used to be for families.

So, I can't go see the Lion King in 3D
I’m so upset! I have been looking forward to all week for this. I had a dream about TLK in 3D for God’s sake! So, here’s the dealo….
My friends had to cancel because of homework, work, babysitting their siblings, and family. Am I mad at them? HECK NO!!! I completely understand, they wanted to go, but can’t. I can’t be pissed off at them, they’re like my sisters and I love them to death. But, am I mad for not being available to go? Obviously! My dad is going be too busy to take care of my mom who is having surgery tomorrow (pray 4 her btw). Again, am I mad at them? HELL NO!!! Also, my friend invited me to see TLK in 3D for her birthday on the 2nd week, but again I can’t possibly go (but mom may try to reschedule the things, so that way I can go). So, for now, I can't go.

First off,
disneyprincess11 you and your family will be in my prayers. Also I wouldn't be surprised if this went beyond two weeks...maybe 3 or 4. Toy Story Double Feature 3D went beyond 2 weeks as has Nightmare Before Christmas in the past. The only differ regarding Lion king is that it will be in stores in 4 weeks on shelves, though maybe they think if they keep it in theaters people will go buy a 3D TV or more wanting to upgrade...?
And for those that have an AMC and are a apart of the Stubz program click
