Nice stories. I'll admit I haven't ready many, only like...five. I'll try to read all of them eventually, okay? What a cute story Fidget. I like romance and it's cool you both share the Disney passion. So now for my story...
Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum, and I'm so glad I'm finally a member!

First off I'll let you know that I am a boy. A guy. A male human. My Disney story starts with me at three years old. My parents were at a party, and the house they were at had a really nice, big jungle gym. I was on those rings that dangle and you go from one to the other (sort of like monkey bars). When I was reaching for one of the rings, I missed it, and fell. I broke my arm. I ran crying to my mom, and to cheer me up when I got home, they rented some movies for me. Now, I was three, so I have trouble remembering, and I can't ask my parents to remember every movie they rented for me, but my mom thinks she rented
The Wizard of Oz and Walt Disney's
Cinderella for me. According to my mom, I was enthralled with both movies. I think I can remember having my arm in a cast as a sat on the couch and seeing a scene in
Cinderella where the stepsisters are practicing music(which is a pretty funny scene, and I love Lucifer the cat's reaction!). So from then on I LOVED and was OBSESSED with
Cinderella,as well as
The Wizard of Oz. I constantly watched those movies, and I remember that all the scenes with Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother were my favorite, and they still are today. I drew lots and lots (maybe hundreds) of pictures of pumpkins with huge curling vines and Cinderella in her ball gown. I was so obsessed I tell you I must have memorized the whole thing and nearly memorized every frame of that gown transformation! I WAS OBSESSED! I later learned that Cinderella was a common story the Disney movie was based on, and even though I read, watched, and liked many other versions, Walt Disney's was and is my favorite. And as for later Disney movies, I remember seeing
Sleeping Beauty at my grandmother's house, and many fond memories of seeing that and other Disney movies at my aunt's. In
Sleeping Beauty there are a few scenes where the fairies change the color's of the dress from pink to blue. I liked the dress blue and my cousin liked it pink, so we argued over that in good fun. I remember that along with seeing
The Little Mermaid and other Disney movies with my aunt, my cousins and I watched the old Disney shorts, like
The Skeleton Dance and
Music Land, which are REALLY nice shorts. In theaters I remember seeing
Aladdin, which I love, and later one of the rereleases of
Snow White with my parents. The reason so many of these memories were with my aunt was because my mom had to work a lot so my aunt was a good choice to take care of me while my mom worked.
As you can see, I really love the Disney movies that involve lots of magic. Genies, fairies, witches. I really liked how every time there was magic there were always lots of sparkles. I LOVE SPARKLES (come on, admit they're cool...or at least pretty to look at). Later I gradually kept collecting the books that came out for my favorite Disney films and I kept watching the movies all the time. I read
Disney Magazine(which unfortunately now has ended). I saw
The Little Mermaid On Ice which was fantastic! And after dreaming and wanting to for so long I finally got to go to Walt Disney World in the summer before I entered 6th grade. IT WAS AWESOME! I saw
Tarzan there and thought it was pretty good.
Now that I'm older I appreciate animation more in general. I really think that so far Disney is the best. Miyazaki's is very good and I love his films but his characters don't look quite as realistic as the old classic Disney films. One thing I wish about animation today is that it would try to be more like the classic Disney films in having more naturalistic looking characters. I can't believe that
Rapunzel Unbraided, which could be the next Disney classic film based on a fairy tale, is going to be in CGI!

But, back to my story...

I really like Disney and I can't wait until
Cinderella Special Edition comes to DVD this October. I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!! Walt Disney's
Cinderella is my favorite movie. Not just my favorite Disney movie, or my favorite animated movie. It's my favorite
movie.
Thanks for listening to my really long story. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!!! I hope to make many posts, as well as many friends, on this forum.
By the way, a little note: I read in the book
Disney's Aladdin: The Making of an Animated Film this quote, "Back in 1939, when Disney was making
Pinocchio, Oskar Fischinger, the abstract film-maker from Germany, designed the hilations that come from the Blue Fairy's wand where she gives the gift of life to the little woodenhead. They were composed of an animated pattern of wavy lines in white ink. In later years, magic wands gave forth what has come to be known as Disney dust." Thus, my name. Oh, and my real name is Michael.
