I have actually noticed quite a few mistakes in the 4K version that are clearly from the original film (I compared with a VHS sourced copy). I am very happy about this... mistakes should be left in. They are part of the hnadcrafted nature of a film like this.

Kinda hate the blu ray transfer even more now with all the "adjustments" made to it.

Oh thank God! You scared me for a minute Farerb!

On the topic of mistakes, I am glad they kept one mistake fix in. I'm glad they kept the 2005 fix of Cinderella's head no longer just floating when we see her looking down at Gus in the cage!

It does, yes! I'll be watching the whole thing tonight. I have to wait some time to get my copy on Blu-ray, and I can't wait that long to watch it. :D

So seeing how Cinderella's ballgown is still bluish in the 4K restoration, does that put all those arguments of it being silver to rest? :D

(On a similar note, Cinderella has mustard-shade hair in Cinderella II, while Cinderella III has her with that orange-ish hair from the then-newly restored Cinderella PE. Which kind of implies that if we want to get a proper idea of Beauty and the Beast's original color palette, we need to look at The Enchanted Christmas. Kidding. Maybe :mischief: )

Cinderella's gown is silver in many shots in the 4K.

I agree with DisneyDuster.

In the 4K transfer, it only looks blue in the shots in the palace terrace (in darkeness, moonlight) and it looks blueish-purple when the lights change when they start to dance. Just as it should!

You can notice that even the Prince's outfit looks blue at those moments.

Agreed, Fareb!

I am overall super happy with the colors of the new transfer. I admit I still have some issues with her hair color in certain shots...

I finally received my Cinderella on 4K so now I can throw these in the trash where they belong:

I would never throw my favorite movie in the trash regardless of a bad restoration. Especially since I liked some of the colors it had. If it really has no meaning and you feel you wasted your money all right but they have nice artwork and packaging and stuff.

Anyway, I decided to post a bunch of screencap comparisons I made. Because yes, I have it, too!

In these comparisons, the first, top image is the 16mm, the second, middle image is the Diamond Edition DVD, and the third, bottom image is the 2023 version on DVD!:
In this one, you really see more depth, and Cinderella's hair more or less looks more like the 16mm!:
Image

In this, the coach is now more white, and so bright!:
Image

You can't really see the magic dust above her head until the 2023 one!:
Image

The Diamond Edition looked orange and teal! Yuck! I prefer the more pink and blue of the 2023 one!:
Image

I must admit here I more like the more colorful Diamond Edition with it's more vibrant pink glow, but the 2023 one is better in it's contrast, too:
Image

In this comparison, there was no 16mm I found to compare, but I noticed the pink spotlight of the Diamond Edition is less prominent in the 2023 one. These are from my computer, but It becomes almost all blue light on my TV! Hardly any pink reflecting in the floor at all!:
Image

And these are just screencaps from the 2023 one to prove Cinderella's dress is silver lol:
Image

It looks kinda blue here, I must admit. I'd call it bluish silver, but I could see someone mistaking it for blue:
Image

It's very silver here again:
Image

Guys, it's silver!:

Maybe I need to have my eyes checked, and I'm not trying to start an argument, but in those screenshots the dress still looks bluish to me (not blue as merchandise blue, but still pale bluish) I associate silver with grey hues and those to me are not grey hues. Anyway... I'm happy if you're all happy with it.

Regardless, the restoration looks great and I welcome the return of the missing linework, but some scenes look too muted to me. I never had major issues with the previous restoration and I feel like brighter colors and pastels worked quite well for Cinderella.

It'll be a while before I get my own copy, but it all looks very beautiful, the silver of the gown, the white of the carriage, the full animation of the transformation, the more rosy colors of the dance scenes, etc. Very nice.

Oh, ok Farerb, hahaha!

Mooky, hmmm....I kinda get what you mean, but boy does it look silver to me in the first screencap I made to show it being silver. They are gray hues to me, but you know, bluish gray hues. So, I can see how you think the blue tint in the grays makes it full on blue...? Thanks for being happy for us, though. I also agree about the muting and I actually liked a lot of the colors in the old restoration, too. But this 2023 one does seem truer.

Yes, Divinity, quite agreed!

What I appreciate the most about the new 4K restoration is the more pronounced line-art. I couldn't help but notice how big a difference it was, especially during the scene where Cinderella says goodbye to the Prince.

MOOKY!!! I forgot something!!! For Cinderella's 70th anniversary, on a show on Disney+ they did a reproduction of a cel from her film, and the archive sheets about colors told them to use a gray color! Her dress is gray silver! Just a bluish looking one!

Yeah, I posted about it back then, here.

I must've read about it in the past, but forgot about it. Good to know. The silver of the ballgown in the night scenes (mostly before she gets to the palace), the white of the carriage, and then those maroon / magenta colors in the ballroom scenes are the things I most remember about this film growing up and were attached to. So I'm glad it's back to normal after so long. Especially since they don't make VHS players anymore, so it's not like I'll be able to go back to the VHS forever....
