I find it funny that in the UK we are going to get Beauty and the Beast on November 1st and it's looking like we're going to get the Fantasia's just one week later!

In Germany we get all three and 'Mater's Tall Tales' actually on the same day :D

I can't understand why Disney have moved Beauty & Beast to November. It doesn't seem to make sense  Besides, I wanted that film to keep my amused in October!

It's still coming out in October in the US according to Amazon.

Well, miniroll32 lives in the UK. But hey, you can still import it from amazon.fr because in France it will be released on October 6. Also, don't forget we'll get (most likely) Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 earlier than the US. :)

This is what I don't get with Disney this year, why the releases have been distributed so un-evenly. Obviously I'm glad we got Dumbo, but for the U.S to get Alice instead?? I would agree that Beauty and Fantasia look to be releasing at least a month in difference between regions.

The Alice release was pointless though, with a Blu-Ray coming next year.

Thats what I mean... It's all down to profit - they re-released it to earn a few more sales with the Tim Burton film.

Fantasia's new restoration was screened last Friday (the 13th!) at the Linwood Dunn Theatre in LA.
If anyone has seen it or catches an online review we may soon know what happens to the "racially sensitive" scenes in the new bluray edition... :D

I found a link to the website for the event, http://www.amianet.org/events/thereelth ... enings.htm. It lists that the film was "presented with the original intermission." Will the intermission be included on the upcoming release? I read on Wikipedia that when Fantasia was originally released as a roadshow picture, the intermission was approx. 15 minutes, starting with the on-screen "curtains" and physical theater curtains closing, and the movie title card projected onto the curtains while the audience was briefly dismissed. Not sure if there was anything else to it or not, like background music, that would make it reason enough to include on the Blu-ray release.

I found this image of Beauty and the Beast's UK cover art on another forum, which shows the addition of the "Double Play:"

Although it's not a huge deal, I hope they don't do that for the future Diamond releases in the US. :(

Look at the BATB cover here in the UK...

If there's some retailer exclusive packaging I'm going to snap it up. There's no way I'm getting that monstrosity.

"Aug 15, 2010 ... Saw the new Lowry restoration of FANTASIA Friday night. ... On the new restoration all the grain is gone and the blown up sections have been ..."

That's all I can see! Arrgh!

Pasted from the site: Saw the new Lowry restoration of FANTASIA Friday night. It's similar to the other recent Lowry Disney restorations: zero grain, but the detail and texture retained, and bright, vivid color. As with the DVD, all of Deems Taylor's narration is still redubbed; personally, I'd like to have an option on the Blu-Ray for a track that retains all the surviving Taylor narration and just uses the new voice to fill in the gaps. Yes, the black centaurettes are still censored. On the DVD, it was fairly obvious when those shots happened, because the image was very grainy due to blowing up the image and reframing it. On the new restoration all the grain is gone and the blown up sections have been sharpened, so the reframed/censored shots blend in more seamlessly. Maybe they can put a sticker on the Blu-Ray: "Now with new, improved censorship!"

:(

Wow - that's going to answer a lot of questions.

It's the roadshow version, folks.

Now we just need set details.

THAT'S 100% CRAP!! That is completely unfair to people who actually want the complete version of the film. This is very very irritating. They totally ruined the chance that they had of bringing the full version of the film to the fans. I'm and totally furious at this right now I don't even know what to say. Ugh, THIS IS CRAP!!!!!             Now I don't even know if I'll be purchasing this because the situation is so infuriating. This is so MADDENING!!!!!!!!!!

Steady on there... Were only talking about a few seconds of footage which is actually zoomed in. Annoying of course, but not enough to warrant a non-purchase. Just be thankful with the technology available the film will look better than ever. This is the exact problem when individuals start changing what they want to happen with what they expect to happen - when the news finally comes, its all the more infuriating. Although I would have like to have seen the original scenes, Disney have taken a predictable approach.

I'm not surprised the the Deems Taylor overdub is present either - Disney even said the the original audio elements for the scenes they found were either lost of destroyed, so fair do's. Would like to see an option for the original elements though when needed.

Lets just wait and enjoy :)
