I finally remembered to check this, and I was right... no hole in my slip-cover. So maybe there are Tarzans out there with slip-covers in tact. Now you can all rush out to every store within 50 miles and frantically search for one. You aren't a true Disney fan until you have one!

Cinderella slipcover?

I was wondering, has anyone else noticed that the Cinderella DVDs are already starting to loose their slipcovers in the stores? I went in Target a few days ago, and I went to look at their disney movies, and i noticed that thier Cinderella's already had no slipcovers, while they hade quite a number of Aladdin's, all with slipcovers. I believe, though i'm not totally sure, that all the Bambi's still had their slipcovers.
Of course, I too realize that slipcovers arn't the most important aspect of the DVD's, but I'm confused as to why Disney would yank away Cinderella's slipcover, after only six months, and all other in-print platinums before Cinderella still retain their covers..that just seems.......odd.
What are your thoughts?

Get your DVD with slipcover while you can if that's of any importance to you.
Apart from that, I wouldn't really worry.
There doesn't necessarily have to be a special "policy" (or "conspiracy") behind this - Disney may just have had more or less slipcovers printed in the first run. So for some titles it takes more time before the covers are gone, for others less.

Some stores have them some stores don't. I bet if you went to another store you would see that Cinderella had more slipcovers than Aladdin did.

When I went to Target on october they had a lot of movies from Cinderella, but neither of them had a slipcover and they also had a lot of movies from Aladdin and all of them had a slipcover, so I think that they are reducing the production of slipcovers.

From what I've been told, they'll give you any slip-cover for free, whether it's IP or OOP, unless they're out of them.
I was about to call them for a BATB slipcover, but I've heard from other people that they're sold out. So good luck.

I'm almost completely sure that they still have that slipcover, because they have all of them..well with some exceptions like BATB, but remember that this release was a success so they sold out very quickly.

They were free when I requested a slip cover for Lion King 1 1/2. But I've heard from others that they were charged...

I called again and I got a different lady who told me that they have the slip-covers available but I have to send in a damaged one to them in order for them to replace it. Why are they beaing so difficult with me? Everyone else seemed to get it easy

Does a lack of a slipcover truly hinder your enjoyment of the DVD?
Honestly, it's a piece of cardboard used for security and advertising purposes...

I know people are tired of slipcovers....but I still love them.
Unfortunately, I've noticed a serious lack of them lately. First Chicken Little, now Pooh's Grand Adventure and The Greatest Game Ever Played. Also - you had to buy the 2-disc edition of Narnia to get one (which awesomely opens like a book!).
Are they saving the slipcovers for future editions, or what? I'm sort of sad...

Yeah, I'd have to give in now and say that the only slipcover I'm truly enjoying is the Narnia one. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but it's still part of the security and advertising, and actually is a PART of the DVD packaging (as opposed to every previous slipcover which is simply a repeat of the cover art.). The Narnia Slipcover is the only one worth getting with the DVD because it functions as a part of the DVD, not simply as advertising or security purposes and it's definitely not just a repeat of the cover art!
Of course, every other slipcover can burn in hell.
