Thanks for posting that, atlanticaunderthesea. I love those old Disney product ads. Very nostalgic.

That commercial was super cool. Thanks a lot for that, atlanticaunderthesea! I love watching retro stuff like that, especially when it's something rare from Disney.

That commercial was awesome, atlanticaunderthesea. Great find.
Was Sterling Holloway narrating that commercial? It sounded a lot like him.

I just watched the trailer (

and I didn't hear any different voices...did you see a different trailer?

I suddenly have the urge to eat peanut butter
I just bought the DVD today and....
What's Good:
-The Peter Pan that Almost Was (felt longer than it actually was, I mean that in a good way)
-In Walt's Words
-Art Galleries (on par with Cinderella)
-I finally know how to play sudoku
-DVD menus
-restoration
-MONO TRACK!
What's Not So Good:
-Tinker Belle featurette to fluffy
-No Christmas show
-No tarilers
-the 2 deleted songs on the CD for the film were not under the deleted song section
-Movie read along (worst bonus feature, ever)
-Virtual flight didn't have very good 3-D graphics (although the DVD was rushed)

I recently picked up the Platinum Edition of Peter Pan, as it has been on my DVD “wish list” for some time. I never previously owned the film in any form, so I admittedly have no basis for comparison. I am certainly pleased with the DVD, and I would say that this edition is surely good enough for the causal Disney fan (such as myself).
However, given the talk and screencaps being posted around the net, I can only conclude that a) the colors as seen in the 2007 PE do not accurately reflect the colors as originally seen in the 1953 Technicolor film, and b) the 2002 SE is actually the sharper edition in terms of picture quality. Indeed, the image of the 2007 PE appeared somewhat “soft” on my 65” Mitsubishi HDTV.
I definitely recommend that everyone check out the ongoing discussions at DVD Talk (
Peter Pan : Platinum Edition) and Home Theater Forum (
Official HTF "Peter Pan - Platinum Edition" review). Certainly, the folks at over at The Home Theater Forum know their stuff, so if you are curious regarding the quality and authenticity of this latest “restoration,” then I definitely suggest you check out their Peter Pan thread.

Ah, thanks for the disc pics, goofystitch! The disc art looks great, even though the translucent art does make itself apparent.

Its the one that appears straight away, don't click on anything, and it just starts to play.
And i'm glad everyone liked the commercial!
I'm so excited right now though; I have just picked up my copy of Peter Pan today from HMV! !
I got the boxset with Peter Pan: 2 Disc Special Edition, and Peter Pan in Return To Neverland.
I CANNOT WAIT TO WATCH IT ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Thanks for that, Matt. It's become one of my favorite songs and favorite features on the DVD.
(BTW, got your e-mail, I'm doing fine, I just had to take a few days away from things yet again. At least it was only four days and not nine like last time!)

I finally got around to watching mine last night. I absolutely love the picture. That's a good thing, since it's the only reason I bought the DVD. This was my first triple dip, as I owned the Limited Issue and Special Edition. The paltry list of features wasn't enough to get me to buy it again. I do like the Walt Disney piece and the Peter Pan That Almost Was featurette, but this was really a letdown as a Platinum Edition. It seemed that it really could have all fit onto one disc and was just put onto two to boost sales. Don't get me wrong. I don't regret the purchase. I was just spoiled by the awesome early Platinums and the last couple haven't met that standard.

I got the "Peter Pan" DVD today and it was splendid. I used to have that on VCD that my uncle gave me, and it was crippled. I threw the VCD copy out but it was not that good. I prefered the DVD of "Peter Pan".
It finally had the original logo from the last Platinum Edition "The Little Mermaid" complete with the original 1985 logo music. It also had a special end credits with different music. That film was excellent but the picture and sound quality, brilliant than the 1989 VHS release. I've seen the reissue at the movies in the Cobble Hill section of Brooklyn since I was 11 years old, it was terrific. Great to see it on DVD.

Sounds a bit too farfetched that they've changed the original voice cast for the UK release and intact in R1. Anybody can confirm this?
The trailers been there for ages and nobody noticed?
