There's not going to be a Broadway Soundtrack.

There will, however, be a cast recording. Hope you're not too disappointed.

I really can't wait!!!!
Ariel's Beginning will be going to the vault in January of 2009. (I would guess that the original's Platinum Edition and a hypothetical rerelease of Return to the Sea will also be disappearing then.) There will be books featuring the Ariel's Beginning title beginning in May of 2008. The ad campaign will be on par with Cinderella III.

The release date is: August 26, 2008

But it will be "going to the vault" (a.k.a. disappearing) on January 2009.

Thanks Luke for the extra information!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Thanks, Luke. More official information, at last!!!
So if there's a new villainess, there will be no Ursula. Oh, well. Let's hope the new villainess is good enough... if this can be possible!!
Anyway, Ariel's Beginning is quite catchy as a title, I really like it. But I just can't wait so long. Let's hope the animation will be as great as in Cinderella III. Too bad we're not going to see her mom. Is her name still Athena?
I just updated the first post with all the new information.

Thank you Luke!

And now, I would like to point out a little connection I made:

So, she pretends to be nice? She wants to come up with a killer concert to destroy Atlantica?! I'm just playing around...

Oh my gosh,Disney Duster,i completley forgot about it!.
Maybe she use the sisters for something (maybe Sebastian is banished after opening the club) you think that the villains is magic fish? with-fish? or something? anyway i think she enchanted Triton and make him disliking music.

Oh!

Sorry, I normally dont check the front page anymore, I just come straight to the forums.

But I still stand with my question about Chris Daniel Barnes, cause didnt they say a while back ago that Rob Paulsen was gonna voice Eric? I'm just wondering cause if it's going around that it'll have the "original voice cast" and then it doesnt... I dont wanna get my hopes up. The one disaster in my life is that C.D.B. didnt voice him in Return to the Sea.

Wait....how is Eric going to be in the movie :? I thought Ariel had never seen him before until the first movie so what role will he be playing??? I might be wrong, it's been ages since I've watched Little Mermaid

That sounds like an ideal episode of the TV series!

Yeah, that show was really bad with its plotlines. And I hate how the continuum for the TLM is all screwed up. In the first film, they're celebrating Ariel's beautiful voice (and, on a sidenote, Triton wishes Ariel would play his father's [Poseidon's] calliope in the series) and now, before all that, we find out that Triton hated music. They're making Triton a little too domineering here...

If you remember the storyboards we saw a while ago? They featured the opening of the movie, and Ariel was with Eric on his ship, looking for something it seemed like. So it is very very likely that Ariel will be telling Eric her story. Her 'beginning'.

And thank you so much for the extra info Luke! So I guess we can expect a trailer this Christmas sometime, if the promo is stating in May.

And I'm so glad this will be getting the same push that Cinderella III did! Ariel deserves it :)

Well,i don't think that Triton hates music (come on,that won't make any sense),i think that the villain is "witch-fish" or something and she cast a spell on him.

No,we don't,just the fact that he miss her mother.
Do you think that the villain will be something like The Evil Manta?.

Yay, you laughed at my little joke. But you're so right, that does sound like something the TV series would do, kind of reminds me of Ursula enchanting Ariel's objects to attack Atlantica! But still, I do like the series, except for Ariel going into Ursula's lair and finding all her stuff, but Ariel seemed not to know her lair in the movie. Better yet, why did she trust Ursula when she was obviosuly so evil? The series should have made Ursula's evil hidden more, like, come on, that time when she used that stone to turn people into worms?

My little rant. Anyway, I hope no one forgot this:
DonDuck wrote:A DVD-flyer over here in Germany gives a short "preview" of the story of Mermaid III.
It says:

"King Triton forbids the music in his kingdom.
Ariel tries to restore life under the sea and has to decide:
Should she follow the order of her father or should she follow her heart?"
So, Triton could have forbid music, then by the end of this prequel Ariel makes him love it again, and then there's the music-loving series, and then the voice-sacrificing movie, and then the music-mangling sequel! Though I actually like some of the music from that..."you're my beautiful Mel-o-dyyyyyyyyyyyy"...

Hey, by the way, I've always wanted to say this to you, Disney's Divinity: There's the episode of the series where Ariel says purple is the sea witch's favorite color, leading you to think that Ursula possibly magicked her skin that color. But in an episode where she helps "the Octopans" attack Atlantic, I think the episode title is "Heroes", these Octopus-men all look blue, and I've always thought Ursula was blue in the movie and even the series. So maybe it's a blue-purple or something, but I just think Ursula is an Octopan, or was intended to be by the series creators. Then everyone saw the DVD where a deleted scene says she's Triton's sister and the Broadway musical follows suit. But a deleted scene can be deleted for more reasons than just to shorten the movie. That sibling tie could have been an idea they deleted. For the movie at least.
