So according to the article, this movie isn't set in a specific time period.

The film is set in an imaginary fairy tale period that mixes the 1800's with the 1940's and 1950's. It has been said by Sandy Powell it is supposed to be like if a movie set in the 1800's was made by filmakers in the 1940's or 1850's, so I think it could be thought to be set in the 1800's.

That shot of Cinderella descending the staircase is gorgeous. It really does look like her dress is floating. I've finally come to love the dress...despite still wanting Cinderella to look more like the Mattel doll and have the Mattel doll's butterfly and sparkle details on the skirt. :p And thank God the final dress and hair are better than the sketch. However, I love the sketch of the Fairy Godmother, and would have loved that in the film, either that look or the final one would be great.

The stepsisters ballgowns are like both beautiful and hilariously bad at the same time. How amazing Sandy Powell did that!

I loved the article.

New video: Ella meets her stepfamily!!!

https://www.berlinale.de/en/programm/be ... ab=video25

Also, official run time is 105 minutes!

Furthermore, I guess now we know who the narrator is based on the sound of her voice. I've always thought that character would be the most appropriate narrator since her recollections would be unbiased and truthful.

That tiny clip was such a joy to watch for so many reasons: how horrid the stepsisters are, how poised the stepmother is, Lucifer, Sophie's accent, the soundtrack, the dialogue, the costumes, the sets... I can't wait for more!

Someone at the Internet Movie Database has said there are three major plot twists in this film's third act and one of them has already been spoiled in the trailers. I believe he/she was referring to the stepmother smashing the glass slipper before locking Ella in the attic.

Looks like some or all of those new stills Old Fish Tale are from the books they just released. I have all of them now, except for A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes which comes out later. So, if you still want me to take pictures of the books I will (up until the ball and then none after because of the later plot twists), but all of them you may have seen already!

Interesting that there are three major plot twists in the end. My guess would be the stepmother finding and smashing the slipper was the one spoiled in the trailer, too.

What a great find of that new spot Old Fish Tale! It's interesting that we now have Cinderella saying she will save the prince. It's one of the ideas I had, Cinderella saving the prince from the stepfamily. We'll see what their whole idea is in the final film. I think it's great she will do that. Lily acted that part well, too.

Thanks for that great find tsom! You can hear the stepsisters call Cinderella ugly before they all say she's pretty! Wow, what mean girls! The stepsisters and especially the stepmother were really great acting in those scenes! Lily not so much, but I still have faith in her. I'm so glad the Fairy Godmother is the narrator! I think she's perfect for it! Though I don't know if she'd be totally unbiased since she is Ella's godmother and played a part in the events of story. I especially like her as the narrator because it's like she's been watching Ella all her life.

Thank you, but don't trouble yourself. That page has been updated and I've seen even more stills.

I've been wondering if the film's villains are somehow related. The grand duke seems to have red hair too.

That was Cate, Holliday and Sophie's scene through and through. But something tells me Lily will prove her haters wrong. I've always thought she's a great actress!

Thanks for saving me the trouble of taking lots of photos! lol I want to wait till I've seen the film to really open my books anyway. There is actually one book that is yet to arrive for me though...the illustrated novel. So if that one has unique illustrations, I'll perhaps take photos of the first few, and the rest later.

You have an interesting theory about the villains! You may cleverly have guessed it...

I think Lily's great in at least some scenes so I have faith in her like you do!

I agree, I think it's a great choice to have the Fairy Godmother narrate. Plus, HBC has a good voice for it, imo.

My God, those stills are so beautiful. And the TV spot was awesome as well. Did you guys see the scene where the evil stepmother is introduced in the movie? A Facebook fanpage has it.

Remarkable how the new spot advertises the film as "from the creators of Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent and Frozen". Hahaha.

I don't know why, but something tells me one of the twists is that Ella's father didn't really die and was just lost at sea or something. I could be so wrong though.

I'm sure this is the waltz from the film:

That clip is great. I think Lily did a good job. It's an awkward situation and she was reacting to it in an awkward way. The stepsisters are hilariously bitchy and Lady T is classy, regal and all that she should be.

I liked the clip of the dress transformation. It was lovely.

Omg! That is the waltz for the ball that at first I didn't think sounded great enough and now I think sounds beautifully fantastic and lovely!

And that clip of Cinderella's transformation...o...m...g!!!!!!!!! The music there is once again fantastically beautiful, even more heavenly than the waltz, and the imagery is dazzlingly magical. All I would have done is add a shot of Lily grabbing and holding out the dress before she says "It's beautiful", but ah, well. Since the clip is cut anyway (other trailers have shown more footage of the transformation than was in the clip) maybe something like that will be in it.

This all looks so amazing I can't wait!

So I bought both books and browsed both of them. I'm still torn on whether I should read them before or after I see the film. It's way too tempting. I can say that there is SO much that isn't shown in the trailers based on the pages I have read already.

Pardon my ignorance, but which two books?
