Dinosaur is part of the canon ... not because BVHM UK says so, but because the official Walt Disney Animation Studios site says so. We can't argue with that.
Could it be that
The Secret Lab was actually a subsidiary of
Walt Disney Feature Animation, and hence the film was still made by WDFA in all fairness.
(snip snip...)
Bleh ... if you start thinking of it, you'll never stop.

I remember reading somewhere that Dinosaur was the first (mostly) CGI feature from WDFA and Chicken Little was the first entirely CGI feature. But you're right though, I never really thought of it as a Disney Animated classic and I was also surprised to see it on the list. I think they included Dinosaur because it's main form is with Animation (you can take out the backgrounds and still have the story, though it'll be a lot less interesting) whereas in the other movies you listed, the main story is told through live action. If you think about it, nearly all the package films had some live action footage (Make Mine Music may be the only one, but the Two Silhouttes had rotoscoped live action dancers), but they would not be in the same category as Mary Poppins, Bedknobs, etc. since they are mostly animation and the live action parts could be snipped out and the shorts hold well on their own.
I hope that that website eventually has a listing of ALL the Animation Disney has done including theatrical animated shorts, television animated shorts, animated segments for various things, etc.
Gahhh, you're right though, once my brain hops on the think train for anything, it doesn't stop!!

I guess this must be Prince Naveen when he first comes to New Orleans (it seems his valet Lawrence is with him):
This is Naveen in Dr. Facilier's chamber:
This is Dr. Facilier (he looks creepy):
This is probably Lawrence:
And Tiana is looking for instructions on how to kiss a frog in "The Frog Prince" fairytale:

That's awesome, Kyle! So cool!
Disney's Divinity wrote:I was hoping maybe it wouldn't be so bad if he wrote the songs and someone else sung them. With him doing the music, it just feels so out of place. It feels like a Pixar film. And I don't want it to. If that's a sign of things to come, I doubt this'll be a "golden age." Unless the critic's unfairly praise the Pixar touch.

I like the song in the trailer, but I would much prefer Alan Menken's music (with characters singing). I just have an issue with Disney becoming Pixar, Jr.
Oh, and thanks for the credit, mooky, but you posted it in here & deserve credit, too!

Well, from what I understand, it will be a traditional musical with characters singing. That's not Randy Newman singing in the teaser trailer, so this won't be like Toy Story. Remember that he also did the music for James and the Giant Peach, which had all of its songs sung by the characters themselves (outside of the end credits). Plus, I doubt they'd hire Anika Noni Rose as Tiana if they weren't planning on having her break out into song.
I do find the choice of Newman ironic, though. Pixar hasn't used him since Monsters, Inc. because they were afraid their film soundtracks would end up sounding the same. Then Lasseter goes and assigns him to do this film. Although that kind of makes me wonder if Pixar will end up using Menken for one if their films in the future. The Bear and the Bow would seem like a good match for him.

You're right, Disneykid- I wasn't thinking- that's Dr. John singing the song in the trailer.

At least Alan Manken was in Enchanted.
Mooky_7_sa-The Prince is black?.
Yeah, the villain looks weird (He reminds me of the villain from Meet The Robinsons).
And the prince's name is now Laveen I think.

Is that a bad thing? I would assume he is African-American because Tiana is.

I"m asking if he's black or only the picture make him look like that.
If he's still British then I assumed that he's white, but if he's black I guess it's more fits the film and that makes him more like Tiana.

He's not black but he's not white either. It's some strange combination of Middle-Eastern/Italian features. He'll definitely have a darker skin, but it'll be lighter than Tiana's.

Maybe he means that they look somewhat similar because they are both skinny and tall...

I don't see a cape and mustache there. Plus the pic is too small to even tell.
