Some of the claims are very stupid because you can't own Polynesian culture

But yes it's clear they copied him since that's the plot of Moana 1 word by word

But suing Disney for using Polynesian culture without that person being Polynesian feels very...
Oh, I wasn't even talking about the Bucky lawsuit, just in the ScreenRant article, it mentioned a Maui TV show, which I didn't remember reading about before (but I also have a bad memory).
I talked about the article where it describes Polynesian gods and traditions as part of the copyright claims from that dude

I know; I'm sorry if I came off as dismissive - I didn't mean to. From what I've read, I think there are not deep similarities (like having a necklace and a turtle, Polynesian customs and legends) for the lawsuit to be successful but what do I know.

I'm happy with what we're given, but I miss the long documentaries.

Just like Inside Out 2, there's only going to be a limited steelbook edition for 4K:

Goes well with the original's steelbook:

I'll buy this eventually. Admittedly, I'm not very interested in this, but those steelbooks could have been nicer...

I agree with you. The steelbooks are made for collector's. At least they could make new designs for them and not using the same renders that they use for all the merchandise before.

Well said. I couldn`t have said it better myself. Besides, most of the bonus features are available on Disney Plus.

I tried watching Moana 2 again and I'm sorry to say that I was bored. At least when Disney made cheapquels, some of them (the better ones) actually continued the story (like Aladdin's cheapquels) or went with a crazy premise different than the original movie (like Cinderella 3). This is just the original movie again but not as good.

I still haven’t seen it. I am in no hurry. I’ll buy the physical release because I’m a completionist. I’m a bit annoyed by Disney’s recent trend of only releasing 4Ks in steelbooks. I usually only buy steelbooks if I really like the artwork. In general I avoid them because they get damaged so easily in shipping and prefer to buy in-store if possible. But because these are limited releases, I always worry that if I don’t order online before they sell out there won’t be available stock in-store. So I feel hand tied to order online. Also, I thought Inside Out 2’s steelbook looked much better in product photos than in person (and also mine arrived scratched because of course…).

why aplogize? :|

Also The Moana 2 Soundtrack is the only Disney Princess musical soundtrack that didnt even chart in the top 100 US Album charts (Billboard 200) (aside from Wish which didnt even made it in the Top 200 in the first place) :P . Even the original Moana soundtrack is still charting way higher right now, with Frozen reentering the charts. The longetivity! https://www.billboard.com/charts/billboard-200/

Also for anyone here interested in Art Books, dont waste your money for the M2 Artbook, i hate how it doesnt give us any Information, thought process or scrapped content at all! Its just states character descriptions and things you would already know from movie descriptions. Also the Art is not that good at all, its DTV quality or fanart~ish.
Full Moana 2Artbook: https://youtu.be/UHRfr-pNJMU?si=XGnOFQmou_GxFIZw i wish i never bought it, but atleast i got the full Revival era collected (aside from Princess & Frog, too expensive and rare and Flop World of course). Even Wishs Artbook was charming and detailed

Also, Moana 2 pitch meeting
https://youtu.be/UC6mcMCjdbM?si=FXevUZCQs1gagNdZ
"Then, Moana has to find a way to raise the island, if not, it will lead to the extinction of her people!"
"When?"
"Eveeentually"
"Oh oh, better hurry!"
Lol i wouldnt be surprised if the meetings looked like that

Unfortunately, I stopped getting new Disney films on 4K/Blu-ray. The last Disney Animation film I got was Frozen II and the last Pixar film was Luca.

In Spain we don't have much Disney movies released in 4K. The company that makes the home editions here don't want to create disc where castillian is included. We only have Snow White, Cinderella, The little mermaid, Coco and Encanto because the disc is the same one than the american one so they didn't have to create a new one.
In this case i'm not sad because the movie is a mess but in other movies is a problem. We have to order them from other countries and sometimes it can be expensive.

For people who don't like Steelbooks, there will be a standard slipcover edition released in the UK:

It looks better but I don't like the render of Moana that they used.
This poster looks better for a cover in my opinion:

Finally watched this last night. It wasn't great ... As I expected going by what we all knew of it being TV episodes stitched together, the pacing was all off and it mostly felt like one of the DTV sequels of the '00s. The thing is, there are bones there that would've been a great movie if smoothed over. I liked the crew, for example; they just needed to be introduced more slowly and given a little more time to shine. And I liked the idea of "cursed" water where Moana's powers are neutralized. The bat lady was definitely a great character--voice and design--but the song she had was terrible.... Whew! I think they laid groundwork for her to come back in 3 as a full-out villain there--she was manipulating Moana to get herself out. It would be too much wasted potential not to use her for something more. She would probably be the best villain since Yzma if they gave her a good plot in 3 and a great song. She definitely had the creepy vibe of the best villains. The moment Moana wakes up with the bat that won't let go reminds me of how Ariel is grabbed by the polyp just before meeting Ursula.

Worse thing about the movie is they messed with Pua's design. Really wish they'd left it alone since he was so adorable in the first film.

Well, some reviewers have claimed that, too. Fittingly enough.

Agreed, her song was pretty meh. And she was a wasted potential. But frankly, so was Magnifico in Wish, as he was a good villain, but not a great one.

Agreed, Pua was adorable. It`s a pity that he didn`t got more screentime than Hei Hei in the first movie.
