That cover is fantastic. And the new features sound super interesting.

Peter Pan looks a bit off-model and his pose is awkward. The same goes for Tinker Bell. I like the background though. The illustration of the characters is recycled from promo art created for the Diamond Edition.

Wow, the Peter Pan cover is fantastic. I really hope TLM gets a cover that good, for once.

In all seriousness though, I do really like the cover and the Darling Conversation feature looks interesting. Since I bought the Diamond Edition used as it was going OOP I missed out on the digital copy, so I'll be picking this one up for sure.

So that's where the charaters' poses came from. I knew they looked familiar.

Hopefully they re-draw the cover to make it new and more on-model (even though personally I find him on-model). This might not be the final cover art.

Was talking about this release with a couple friends recently. I'm mainly glad that Peter Pan is coming back to Blu-Ray in order to get the digital copy, as I missed out on the Digital Copy version of the Diamond Edition (with the awesome cover) because I opted for the Target digibook. But beyond that, the new supplements are, as expected, otherwise lacking.

"Stories from Walt's Office" was rather underwhelming on Lady and the Tramp, so a Peter Pan focused one will likely be more of the same.

The lack of an "In Walt's Words" (or whatever they decide to call it) featurette is puzzling, since Walt's 1956 interviews were fairly extensive and the book that resulted from it does include some details about Peter Pan.

The only thing I'm really excited for is the "Darling Conversation" since this will be the first time we'll have a home media interview with Paul Collins (John Darling). Tommy Luske passed away in 1990, so he's never participated in any retrospective interviews, unfortunately. And I think Collins and Beaumont are the only two surviving members of the film's production, along with Margaret Kerry. But since Kerry already got interviewed for 2007's Tinker Bell featurette, it's fine that she's not interviewed again. Given that this is a latter-day Blu-Ray supplement in an era where multi-screen viewing options is the selling point, I'm going to assume this piece runs between five and seven minutes.

I can do without the sing-along "oke" nonsense, but at least it's not some ridiculous Disney Channel host telling us what we already known in under 5 minutes.

Ways that Disney could have improved on this set:

1. The inclusion, after all these years, of 1951's "The Walt Disney Christmas Show." Although the special is really only Pan relevant in the first act, it's never been released officially anywhere, and this really could have been the final chance for us to see it. Alas, no.

2. The inclusion of 1989's Back to Never Land short film. This aired as the introductory film to The Magic of Disney Animation at Disney's Hollywood Studios dating back to its Disney-MGM days, and is very Peter Pan centric. Since we didn't see it on 2015's Aladdin Blu-Ray, I had hoped it would show up here. Alas, again, no.

3. The creation of a new documentary. You Can Fly: The Making of Peter Pan is twenty years old, dates back to the film's laserdisc, and despite having a solid amount of information packed into sixteen minutes, still barely scratches the surface. When I went to Orlando's D23 screening of Peter Pan in February, we literally had ONE PERSON giving us a THIRTY MINUTE presentation on the making of the film, contemporary merchandise and animated commercials, the creation of its theme park dark ride, and its continuing legacy today. Archivist/historian Steven Vagnini had the unenviable task of digging deep into the archives to provide content that has otherwise never been seen or discussed in the making of the film. It baffles me that Disney still refuses to make a new documentary for this film. Alas, no.

Part of me wonders if Growing Up with Nine Old Men will still be included on this disc or if it'll be reduced to the digital archive, along with the 1952/2002/2007 supplements. Honestly, it's hard to gauge what "legacy" content will be on-disc versus digital-exclusive now since there's no rhyme or reason to it anymore. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, and Bambi preserves a great deal on the disc, while Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Lady and the Tramp put their older content online. Best I can hope is that they surprise us all and have the Christmas Show as a digital exclusive, but I know that's wishing for too much from a company that's consistently disappointed me in one way or another on their home media decisions for the past seven years.

The original making of is only 16 minutes long?! Pituful! I think 30 minutes is necessary for just talking about the making of the film itself!

I hope we get something close to what you want on disc or online.

And I would think looking in the archive for stuff never seen before would be enviable.

You know what else would be great? If we got a Trailer and TV Spot archive.

I liked this cover better than the ones for the Diamond Edition. It was simply nicer and more beautiful.

Yeah, I don't understand why Disney hasn't made a new and more complete documentary for a movie like Peter Pan which is one of the "elite" Disney films that is always part of their select home video collections.

Disney has released a trailer for the Signature Collection release of Peter Pan. It will be released on Digital on May 29th and on Blu-ray on June 5th.

They've indeed tweaked the cover, particularly Peter Pan and Tinker Bell. They look better now but still aren't fully on-model. I love the composition of the Best Buy exclusive. I wish that was the cover for the Blu-ray combo instead.

Same here! It looks great and something that was never used before on any home video release of the movie. I never go for the steelbooks, but will consider this one.

The new cover looks more like him, or Lampwick I should say, Which I don't find to be a compliment.

I love the steelbook cover though. Even though this is my least favorite Walt Disney film, I'm almost tempted to pick it up for that cover.

All extras are being ported over (except for the Diane Disney Miller intro)!

The Best Buy steelbook is amazing, and it's quite original that the back cover is the same scene seen from behind. It's true that the characters look more on-model now in the Blu-ray combo cover. I'm also glad all the previous extras are ported over.

I love that BestBuy steelbook. The new cover looks fine, but it was a lot better before.

Does BestBuy deliver internationally?

also I hope this means they are starting a line of Best Buy excl. steels for the classic Disney films. Before that they only did them for Pixar. The only Disney classics steelbooks you had to get them from Zavvi.com which were basically UK imports.

I feel the same way. Just like with Pinocchio’s Signature cover, the work-up was much better than the finished product.
