Im shocked that Blu-Ray.com has given 5 stars for Cinderella's video transfer!!

Question, is her arm supposed to disappear into the dress?

No offense against Kenneth Brown, but this is an awful review.

Yes. She's holding it so the hand is hidden.

OK, I wasn't sure, with nothing to reference and not seeing it in motion.

I think Mr. Brown overlooked the flaws in the image because ... he didn't see them. Not many people will. I am all for a recall of the Cinderella disc in the US, UK or elsewhere, but the truth is that in shots were there are no restoration errors (and I expect a good part of the film is probably free from errors) the image should look, as he said, "phenomenal".

Interestingly enough, he just downgraded it to 4.5

I'm not, cuz taken on its own, the transfer is great(vibrant, clean, and sharp) but the restoration is the problem.

granted, Blu-ray.com doesnt often know what they're talking about.

edit: reading the review, he also kind of undermines the moral of the film, which is to chase your dreams and not as he says:

With magic and a man, you too can be rid of your wicked parents and live a long, luxurious life as a happy little princess.

I just got back from Best Buy and picked up my copy of the Steelbook. I go back tomorrow to pick up my copy of the blu-ray. I figured I'd go ahead and get it since I'm getting a good price on it with the DMR coupon and everything. If Disney ever issues a replacement disc that corrects the problem, I'll have it. But it does feel kinda "Eh," knowing all about the botched restoration.

Do you guys think we'll get a DMR coupon for THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE? God, I hope so. And I hope the quality on that release doesn't suck. It's a favorite. Fingers-crossed.

Some of those people over at Blu-ray.com make me really really mad. They sound delusional like they're trying to convince themselves nothing's wrong or like detail in art doesn't matter. I wanna say they're so stupid, the reviewer included, for pretending like there's no problem and like it's not as big a deal as it really is. The art is considered so great because of the detail, to lose it is to lose why the film is beautiful and amazing!

I understand completely. Cinderella may not be my favorite DAC, but there's no denying it's a classic. It deserved better than this.

I doubt it would suck. I can only assume it'll be the same master as the recent DVD, only in HD.

As for the whole botched up Cinderella restoration, frankly, I just don't give a damn. I haven't seen anyone so up in arms about an upcoming Blu-ray since the Star Wars saga last year after certain clips from that were leaked.

1. The review mentioned three deleted scenes. What's the third one?

2. What's the alternate opening about?

3. I think it looks vibrant and beautiful. Shoot, I even LOVE the 2005 DVD colors. To be honest, the restoration isn't really a big deal to me.

To be fair to the reviewer, I must say he was very kind when I contacted him and showed the restoration mistakes. He updated the review and told me to contact him again if we notice similar mistakes on other restorations.

Plus, if you haven't seen the film a lot of times on VHS etc or if you don't have anything to compare it to, it's very easy to think this is a brilliant transfer (I know I would think this too if I haven't come across the 2 threads in here). You will assume the animation is all there simply cause you don't know how the animation was back in the day.

Finally, Some people will be "in denial" simply cause they can't handle the fact that one of their favorite movies has been butchered. They will gladly comfort themselves that by some miracle they will get a brand new restoration

Wow... that Lady Tremaine doll looks amazing. Clothing aside, that might be the most on-model doll Disney has ever made!!

1. I know the old DVD included "Work Song" and "Dancing on a Cloud", though I can't recall if there was a third deleted scene on the DVD. Of course, he may have simply miscounted the number of scenes, or counted the new alternate opening along with the others.

2. I don't want to spoil too much, but it's basically an alternate take on Cinderella talking to the birds and mice in her bedroom.

3. I personally don't mind the colours used in the restoration, but what really annoys me is the fact that they blatantly used DVNR. Colours are ultimately subjective (at least from a fan's point of view), but linework is not.

It worked the cashier took off the five dollars for the 2-Disc set!
I honestly cannot stand when Disney forces the digital copy on you!
I also love the Lucifer plush too. He will be going under our Christmas tree this year. My niece loves them under there.

Cannot wait to go home and watch this!

^ I was annoyed about the coupon too but my email said it was for the Combo pack as well so for anyone who's hesitant too don't worry
