I noticed that too. I think it's also because her new design doesn't match her voice. She doesn't look like an old-timey, folksy doll anymore but her voice still has that quality.

I HATE when people completely dismiss a movie as being "unnecessary" or being a "cash grab" just because it exists in the first place. Was the ending of Toy Story 3 really THAT perfect, that there was absolutely NO NEED for a fourth movie AT ALL?

Many things in the trailer reminded me of things we've already seen in previous Toy Story movies, however there are several new ideas too and I'm still really excited for this movie. I like Forky a bit more now (I didn't like him much in the teaser trailer), I found him funny here. I'm also intrigued by the scenes between Woody and Bo that seem to be from that flashback we saw a clip from. One thing I don't understand, though, is why the antique store would be considered a perfect place for toys to live. Can't people buy toys there? Wouldn't it be possible that someone purchased either Woody or Bo, and they would be separated again?

We'll just have to wait and see, obviously.

Well, of course, they have to carry over SOME familiar elements from the previous movies, otherwise, it wouldn't be "Toy Story."

It was a good trailer but I agree with Kyle that the constant fade in & out was distracting. I liked Forky too, D82. I found him obnoxious in the teaser but he was pretty funny here and I think he has a child-like naiveté about life that makes him endearing. I felt sorry for Gabby Gabby after reading the description you posted. Since she's not a surprise villain, I hope she'll get redeemed by the end of the film and find happiness. As I've mentioned before, Bo Peep feels off both due to the change in her line delivery and her updated design. A lot of themes (and characters) have been regurgitated yet again. I've grown a bit weary of Woody having the same dilemmas and learning the same lessons over and over again. Still, I think it'll be entertaining and enjoyable, just not very original. Something along the lines of Finding Dory or Incredibles 2. Perhaps a little better. It's clear now that Disney will never stop miking this cow. I just wonder if their plan is to release a new one every decade or so in order to bank on audiences' renewed sense of nostalgia.

While re-watching the trailer, I noticed that young Andy doesn't look the same as he did in Toy Story 3. The change in his design from Toy Story 2 to Toy Story 3 was subtle while the one from Toy Story 3 to Toy Story 4 is much more noticeable. Did they really need to update his look again? Why do they insist on "fixing" what's not broken?

I noticed that too. He looks really off, almost to the point that I thought this was some brand-new character.

^Someone in the YouTube comments (great source I know) suggested that's Andy in between his TS2 age and his TS3 college age, as he's starting to look like his older self (I guess?)

Maybe it's thematic because it's the last time he played, which may/may not be the day after Bo left?

Or probably just another redesign thrown in to a flashback.

I don't understand why people are worried that Toy Story 4 will be bad, when this franchise has earned the benefit of the doubt at this point?

Well, if it helps any, here's what they originally envisioned he would look like between toy story 2 and 3 at age 15 or so. (second to the last one)

On a more random note, something you might not know, this flashback shot of Andy giving woody to bonny is not in toy story 3. Its a brand new shot.

Some small updates:

• According to director Dan Scanlon, the movie has a runtime of 89 minutes. And is he saying that there won't be more trailers until the release?
• Another piece of concept art by Pixar artist Ana Ramírez: https://twitter.com/AnakiRg/status/1108242997890576384

• And animation on the film has wrapped: https://twitter.com/BoxMeetsCircle/stat ... 7086409729

Yes, I agree. But at the same time, they need to add some new ideas and expand the Toy Story universe a bit too for the movie to feel fresh and not a rehash of previous chapters. That said, some of the things that seem too familiar in the trailer probably won't be what they appear to be and there'll be also other surprises that haven't been revealed yet. So, I think there's no need to worry about that yet.

That's why I'm still confident it'll be a good film.

Yes, that's true. In that regard, he's a bit similar to Olaf from Frozen, though that's probably the only thing they have in common.

I don't know why, but I have a feeling she will be redeemed. We'll see.

where are you getting that? a third one is pretty much guranteed, theyll need one more as it gets closer to release. 3 trailers is kinda standard I think.

The only thing that has ever really given me doubt is Toy Story that time forgot. I really didn't enjoy that one. I know its not a proper movie, but it just kinda felt like a jump the shark moment for me.

You know what really annoys me about this trailer? Very little of the dialogue even matches the animation. I get that this is a common thing done for trailers, but its really blatantly done here.

I only got around to seeing the trailer now. Family health issues. Anyway, the movie looks sooo gooooood. I'm more excited than I already was. So nice to hear Annie Potts in this universe again. The baby doll villain and her ventriloquist henchmen looks fantastic--easily going to be the best villains in this series unless they screw it up (although the baby and monkey in TS3 are still Nightmare Fuel).

On the other hand, Incredibles 2 only had the teaser, the Olympics spot and one regular trailer. I can see them employing a similar strategy for Toy Story 4.

Maybe if you can come up with something from less than 15 years ago I'll consider the possibility. That was a time when CG was still fairly new, there might not have even been enough resources to pull off too many trailers then.

Edit: whoops, I totally read that as the first incredibles, not incredibles 2. my bad.

I was asking that because of Dan Scanlon's words:
The first trailer drops tomorrow! GMA will have a sneak peek in the morning.
The second trailer drops on June 21st, and is about 89 minutes long.
I thought they might mean the next thing we'll see about the movie is the complete film when it's released, but I wasn't sure they meant that or if it was just a joke. That's why I asked.

I also thought that one wasn't on par with the rest of Toy Story related productions. However, given that Toy Story 4 is a full-length feature, I expect they've put more effort into it.

I didn't remember Incredibles 2 only had one full trailer. Maybe they've changed their promotion strategy.

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope everything gets well with your family. I'm glad you liked the trailer. I also liked Gaby Gaby and her henchmen. Actually, all the new characters look interesting to me.
