Also, there is a list of bonus features under the DVD part, which include:

-3 Enchanting Versions Of The Film
-Celine Dion And Peabo Bryson Music Video
-Never-Before-Released Behind-The-Scenes Footage
-Filled With All-New Exciting Games
-First-Ever Digital Presentation Using High-Definition Transfer Technology

That list is from the old dvd. Even the "High-definition transfer technology" is taken off the back of the PE case, and I doubt the music video will be ported onto the new release.

It's just a marketing term. The entire movie consists of digital files, there's nothing to 'restore'. If the trailers are anything to go by, I'm sure this release will turn out to be fine.

KubrickFan, I appreciate the intent, but I already knew that, and that's the reason I even made that post.

Gee, this board really got to me if Im worrying about the presentation of one of my favorite movies.

So, I guess that's proof all three versions from the 2002 release will be included on the 2010 release.
Three versions? There's the original theatrical version, the 'restored' version with 'Human again'... Which is the third?

And will this go for the DVD as well?

The work in progress version.

They better not put all three on one DVD. I would hope they would put one of the three on Disc 2. I would assume that the DVD release would get all three versions. I don't think Disney has the nerve to keep one or more of the versions off of it.

If the "original" ends up like it was on the DVD, I'd assume they'd have a better time putting them all on one blu-ray. It doesn't even have to have a very high bitrate to look and sound good.

It's the one where it's not all finished, some parts being final animation, clean-up animation and storyboard sketches.

It was also on the Platinum Edition release. It's the version they showed to critics/special audiences a few months before the movie was publicly released (like how they're doing with Toy Story 3 right now). It's the full movie, but only parts are fully animated and colored. There is a lot of storyboards, rough animation, and clean-up animation. It's actually my favorite way to watch the film at this point, since I've seen it hundreds of times in the regular fashion, and since I'm going into animation myself. If you're a fan of the making of animated films, I would really suggest checking it out. It's the only Disney Classic to have a work in progress version shown to the public, with the recent exception of The Princess and the Frog.

Wow, that sounds great! I never knew they did that! That's so cool! :o

They can leave the 'Human again'-version off the dvd. They can just place the song in the 'bonus features'-section. (Which, I guess, will be very meager for the dvd owners again.)

Yeah, it was shown at the 1991 NY Film Festival.

CAPS Max Resolution

From some online articles it appears Caps Film resolution was 3k. But I read Toy Story was done @ 1.5k. So anything is possible.

Disney should have done someting like this:

1. Released the orginal version with the "dark" colors.
2. Released the "upgraded" Human Again version with the "lighter" colors.
3. Released the work in progress version.

If all the three different versions should have been released on both DVD and Blu-ray, and if there should have been a 2 or 3 disc version with alle the 3 versions and perhaps a 1 or 2 disc version with only the original and/or the Human Again versions, that could have been up to Disney to decide.

If Disney releases "original", "Human Again" and "work in progress" versions of the movie and the "original" one turns out to be the 2002-version without the Human Again-scene, then I don't see the point in calling this version "original".

With Disney murdering all of their recent DVD releases, I see no reason for them even to bother putting the 3 versions of the movie on the DVD release.

I'll bet the DVD includes one version of the movie, the one with 'Human Again'. The bonus material will very likely be simmilar from the R2 single disc Special Edition DVD.

And that will probably be the sad truth of it :(

If that's true I'd hate to be around for the reaction for that. If this was a year ago I'd be part of it.

Seriously though, I would hope the original version would be on the DVD and the two "alternate versions" with the original be included on the BD as a 'bonus'. That's how I think the other two versions should be seen. This set up seems plausible. Now let's see how Disney messes it up.

I don't have a player yet either. I'm waiting to catch some decent ones on sale. I have been getting the combos though. They save on re-buys. Right now believe it or not I'm still replacing VHS's. I only have Beauty and the Beast, Fantasia, Fantasia 2000, The Great Mouse Detective, The Resuers, The Rescuers Down Under, and others on VHS so I haven't been doing a lot of re-buying DVDs right now which I'm pleased with. When I get the combos I feel better knowing that I still have the release and when I do get a player I'll get to enjoy the combos to their full extent. Right now I've been satisfied with the DVDs that come with it. I'm first and foremost a fan of the films. :)
