Beautiful trailer! I hope to see it in English soon. Even though I understand everything they say, I prefer the original voice cast
I think the acting of Lilly James is so much beter in this trailer than in the first (I know it's the same acting but she looks a lot less... vanilla

) so I am sure everything will be okay in the final product.
One of the stepsisters actually screamed 'no' when lady Tremaine ripped the dress.

WillytheDino, I just posted it in English in the post above yours.
It seems the stepsisters will be similar to the ones from a 2000 TV version of Cinderella starring Kathleen Turner as the stepmother. In that version, the stepsisters are whoreish and they make fun of Cinderella for never being with a man. Also, in that big manor house, Anastasia and Drizella choose to share a room? Haha.

Wonderful trailer! This movie will be amazing. Pure magic it seems^^ Now if only upcoming live action versions of other Disney (fairytale) classics will be this good, then I hope Disney continues adapting their animated classics into live action versions.

What a wonderful trailer! The movie looks amazingly beautiful.

Yes, I heard that too. It looks like Drizella (I guess it's her, dressed in the greenish yellow dress) actually says 'no' and moves to stop Lady Tremaine. It could also be Cinderella who says it but it doesn't sound like her voice.
I guess they decided to make Drizella the nicer stepsister? Anastasia has been the nicer sister in both animated sequels, so personally it's a little weird for me to imagine her as the 'evil' one, but I wouldn't mind if they switched it. However, she does call Ella 'Cinderwench' which isn't a very nice thing to call someone.
So maybe there isn't a nicer sister and the 'no' was said by Ella..?

WOW. That trailer...was so freaking incredibly gorgeous and amazing. I'm so excited! The beauty! The expansion of character and action! Lily's better acting! The magic and effects! Thank you
disneyprincess11 and
tsom and
Hogi Bear!!!
And yay, that music from the teaser trailer really may be music from the film! I like it very much!
Toky wrote:Disney Duster wrote: I think I wish Cinderella's ball dress and hair were almost exactly like the Mattel doll's now. I wonder if toky and others agree...
haha I do agree, the doll-dress looks more 'silver-ish' and shiny and the hair even more braided.. which I love
The wedding dress looks lovely on Lily and even though it looks nothing like the movie wedding dress, it's beautifully done and kept simple.
I love the Matell dress because it is actually more detailed. Her sleeves are put in sections by big butterflies and her skirt is decorated with "jewels" (lotsa glitter, really) and smaller butterflies in a pattern. The one in the film does have many tiny jewels on it but not in a pattern of separate rays going down it like the doll has. I like the shape of the sleeves better, too. I like how her hair and braids also look just...better, but the braids still retain those three sections that the 1950 animated Cinderella had in her hair.
Her wedding dress actually does appear to have one thing taken from the animated film! You know how the bodice of her dress in the animated film wrapped around? Like there was a line from her right shoulder that traveled down to her left breast? It looks like they did that, but with flowers added, if you look at the close-up picture of the dolls and the costume for little girls version of the wedding dress, in that link you gave of the merchandise.

Yea, that's weird.

It sounds like it could have been either Drizella or Ella. I think it was Ella, but I may be wrong. You must have missed where I talked about how Anastasia seemed like the nicer stepsister in the 1950 film, just because she was less menacing, really, and how Drizella being the meaner one in the 1950 film fit with the original fairy tale that the stepsister who wore yellow was the meaner one. And we aren't sure who called her "Cinderwench"...
But, did any of you guys notice, the stepmother was sort of indifferent/smiling when Drizella couldn't fit the slipper and got pushed out of the way? Makes you wonder about what that means regarding these characters, huh?
And is Jacques the mouse now a girl because her/his full name is Jacqueline? Or is that a guy's name?
And yes I hope she has/wish she had Bruno, too!

I believe Jaq is now a female mouse named Jacqueline.
If you look closely at the scene where the bluebirds are flying to the manor, you can see the royal guards riding towards the house. I'm guessing the birds are trying to tell the mice about the guards' arrival? I wonder how big of a role the animals will play towards the end of the film.

I really, really don't like them changing a gender...then it's like it's not really Disney's animated Cinderella in live-action.
But yes tsom, you catching the men coming to the house is clever and maybe the animals will play a big part in the film just like it is the animated film in live-action!

Probably not, but to be honest, I like that the live action remakes are made in the same old as their animated counterparts. They don't need to be exact copies of the animated originals, but I like that they pay homage to them. That's one of the reasons that I liked the live-action version of "101 Dalmatians", since I felt it payed much homage to the 1961 version.
And just a note; The CGI animals does remind me of the CGI animals in "Enchanted". Yes, I know it's a shallow comparison, but I couldn't help to state my intention.

I don't mind having Jaq become a female. It's just a minor change that doesn't affect anything. It's not like the mice talk or anything like that. Also, to be honest, I feel like Gus is more popular than Jaq. I don't think it is supposed to be a literal remake of the animated Cinderella. If it was, then the Grand Duke wouldn't be a villain, Ella's name would've been Cinderella to begin with, and so on. Minor changes don't really bother me. The only thing that sort of bothered me but isn't a big deal anymore was Ella gaining a stepmother when she's already a young woman. She seems to be at an age where she really doesn't need a mother figure, but I've gotten over that.

Hm...DisneyFan09 I thought 101 Dalmatians did veer away from the original a lot. Like the jobs Roger and Anita have, and the way it ends with Cruella not going all crazy in her car like the original, but rather getting bested by the animals in a really goofy villain-disrespecting way. But then again I don't know both films very well.
Tsom good points, but...for some reason a gender change feel really big to me...so it still bothers me, but what can I do? And yes, Gus is the more beloved mouse.

Fair enough. We can agree to disagree. I don't think they were identical, but I thought the live action versjon did payed a lot of homage to it's animated counterpart.

Ok. I'm about to get butchy, so all be warned:
Anyone else think this girl isn't pretty enough to be Cinderella? I mean... she looks ok. But I don't know... the thick, dark eyebrows with the (obviously fake) blond hair)... and one of the stepsisters isn't bad-looking (just poorly styled)...
A million beautiful actresses in Hollywood/England, and they went with a "meh" one...

Lily James is not the prettiest...but she is pretty, and I like her as Cinderella so far. A lot. She's charming. And that is what counts. Yes, maybe, and I mean maybe, she needs to be pretty for her stepfamily to be jealous of her, but she is pretty enough for that to be believable. And I think her blonde hair looks natural. I even thought she might naturally be a blonde.
Holliday Grainger, who plays Anastasia, the red-headed stepsister, could be thought of as prettier than Cinderella, but beauty is subjective. Sophie McShera, who plays the other stepsister, Drizella...I actually think is kind of ugly, and I wish that she was prettier like her mother and sister. Then it would be that the stepfamily isn't really ugly on the outside, they just make themselves look ugly in their appearance choices, and are ugly inside. And then they are more jealous of Cinderella's charm and good inside than her outside.
Toky, a while back you said you wished Cinderella's ball dress looked like one from la Belle et la Bête(2014). I personally don't wish that about her dress from the trailer I saw for the film, but have you seen la Belle et la Bête(2014)? Is it good?
