Margos wrote:So... how in the heck are you supposed to pronounce the White Rabbit's name!? Really, tricky names to pronounce seem to be all over this film.... (Mallymkun and Iracebeth are pretty odd, but I still think that Tmctwisp is the worst. Is that a typo or something!?)
But yeah, it looks like the kept the Dormouse (well, Mallymkun, anyway), the same as you described, Disneykid!
The description of Mirana is actually quite fascinating, I think. It should make the character rather complex...
Yeah, the names are really strange and don't roll off the tongue very well. I was kind of hoping they'd drop them. As for the White Rabbit, it's definitely a typo. His name in the script is Sir Nivens McTwisp (one of the easier ones to pronounce).
The Mirana bio is interesting because in the script, she's played completely straight and normal. She doesn't have any sort of dark side or inner conflict. It seems like both her character and the Hatter's changed the most from script to screen (and it seems it's for the better; I didn't like how down-to-earth both characters were in that draft).
It's curious that all of the characters have had their real names accompanied by their well-known titles except for the Hatter and Hare. In the script, the Mad Hatter's name is Tarrant Hightopp, and the March Hare is Thackery Earwicket. I wonder if their names have been dropped all together or just from the press materials.

Oh, OK! McTwisp makes much more sense!
I for one actually like the fact that eveyone has real names along with their titles. I always love being able to call characters by real names (ie. Grimhilde v. The Queen, Lady Tremaine, v. The Stepmother, Adam v. The Beast)!
But yes, I do find it odd that Hatter and Hare don't appear to have them.... I guess we'll just have to wait and see if those names are in the film.

That featurette was pretty neat, but the dubbed-over voices were really, really distracting!
And I loved the new stills! Mallymkun is just so darned cute! I love her little pink dress in the one picture. Absolem is a little creepy looking, but in a good way.
Anyway, I sure hope that those "sneak peek" things are put onto the internet, because I know that I'll never remember to actually catch them when they're on!

I'm listening to it now, but so far, so good!

Here's that featurette in English:

Come on, Disney, can't give you give us featurettes that:
a) Show us shots not found in the trailers
b) Show behind-the-scenes footage
c) Let the speakers get in more than one sentence each?
The stills are cool, however. It's amazing how well the actors blend with the CGI. I think outside of Avatar, this may be the most seamless use of CG backdropping I've seen. Sky Captain, the Star Wars prequels, and 300 all had more of a digital sheen to them, but here the environments look like actual sets, especially the Red Queen's castle.
Oh, and the detail on the Caterpillar's incredible. I'm glad they didn't paste Alan Rickman's face over a CG body as originally planned.

I like how the Art had the original release date. That means the movie's been in development and production a while.

Whoa I actualy enjoy Avril's new song, don't get me wrong, I like her other songs (I.E GirlFriend, My Happy Endings) but this song is totaly amazing, I'm gon'na purchase this song on Itunes.
Too bad I have to wait 4-6 months for the dvd to come out, cause that song just fricken inspired me to do another Alice video.

New behind-the-scenes photos of the Red Queen and Knave of Hearts:
Red Queen Progression #1

Knave of Hearts Progression
I'm shocked that the Knave's body is completely CG. It never looked even remotely so in the trailers. Very impressive.
There's also a great audio interview with Mia Wasikowska:

And finally, Tonner Dolls is coming out with an Alice in Wonderland collection (there's only a pic of Alice for now, but there'll be additional dolls for the Mad Hatter, Red Queen, and White Queen):

Several sites also have Barbie versions of Alice and the Mad Hatter up for pre-order, but no pics exist, yet.

Um, why
is the Nave's body completed CG?
They probably don't have the production budget of Lord of the Rings, but they should have enough.

Well, according to the character description, he's seven feet tall. It looks like the reason they didn't just enlarge Crispin Glover's whole body the way they did for giant Alice is because his body's not proportionate.
This piece of concept art seems to indicate that.
Several Barnes & Nobles have already begun selling copies of The Ultimate Visual Guide book from DK even though it's not due for release till next week. Someone on IMDb has posted
a few scans from the book.
So based on this and the info below, the film opens with
Alice as a little girl being tucked into bed by her father. I had wondered about this since the cast listing had Marton Csokas as Alice's father, but he never makes an appearance in the first draft. Actually showing him and Alice interacting gives the story more of an emotional core. It also confirms that the Hatter's name is, in fact, Tarrant Hightopp just as it is in the script. The shot Alice and Tarrant looking at the waterfalls at the White Queen's palace is gorgeous.
And the full track listing for the Elfman score is
up on Amazon (unfortunately, no samples, yet).
It's interesting that there's no track for the tea party. It jumps from the scene before (The Cheshire Cat) to the scene afterwards (Alice riding on Bayard the Bloodhound). I do, however, like how Alice-centric the titles are. I'm hoping "Alice's Theme" is a memorable one since it's reprised a whopping five times.

I read the novel of the film over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. It read like a proper book instead of the usual script with a little description.

I don't really have anything to contribute except: I saw a commercial for the film last night during
Desperate Housewives and...wow. This film looks incredible. The atmosphere to the film and the graphics were breathtaking. Before this, I was only passably interested (another
Alice movie...eh?

), but I really want to see this in theaters now.

Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo,
Was there a little romance in the novel towards the end like there was in the script or did they tone it down?

And all that commercial was was a condensed version of the teaser trailer. So if that impressed you, take a look at the final trailer:
