Well, they ignored my e-mail!
Original e-mail:
To Whom It May Concern:
I am an avid purchaser of Disney DVDs. I get at least one new DVD a week. I am also a member of the Disney Movie Rewards loyalty program. I visited the site for the Disney Magical Places promotion today:
http://magicalplacespassport.com/home.h ... C93}#/home
...and was concerned with how it works.
A total of 7 DVDs I have purchased ($140 value) were eligible for the promotion if I entered their magic code. However, I've already entered these codes yet they did not unlock those 'cards' on the Disney Magical Places site.
I hope you do not actually intend to not give people who already purchased these DVDs the equal chance as someone who buys them after this promotion.
I mean, I entered the codes for the 101 Dalmatians DVD and Pocahontas II: Journey to the New World DVD in the last 7 days. You honestly mean they won't count because it wasn't after October 1st?
I seriously hope I'm mistaken. I have a great love for the Disney company and love getting new DVDs from you, however, I will be quite put-off if my 7 DVDs do not count because the codes were entered previously.
I haven't even redeemed those points for those 7 DVDs yet at the Disney Movie Rewards site.
Here are the 7 DVDs I have bought that are eligible titles in the Disney Magical Places program, yet the 'cards' aren't unlocked at the site:
101 Dalmatians DVD
Enchanted DVD
Mulan 2-pack DVD
Pocahontas II: Journey to the New World DVD
The Jungle Book 2 DVD
The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning DVD
Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas DVD
They should unlock 'cards' at the Disney Magical Places promotional site.
I hope you can assist me in this.
Thank you!

Hold on to your ticket stubs -- now you can earn Disney Movie Rewards points for seeing select Disney movies at the theatre! This offer will include Disney's "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" in theatres beginning October 3rd, 2008. Visit DisneyMovieRewards.com today to find out more.

Why did I even bother? What a bad consumer relations department. They sent a worthless form letter.
And yes, I know there's lots of emails coming in and out, but I've managed to get non-form letter responses from equally big places like Wal*Mart.

Neal, if I understand you correctly, you entered your latest 7 Rewards codes in recent days, but
before Disney's promotion started on October 1?
If I've accurately interpreted your predicament, then there's nothing Disney is obligated to do when/if you've put in your codes before the beginning of the promo. It isn't their fault you've taken action
even one day before or after a special offer.
In my case, I've ordered a Disney movie from the Disney Movie Club, hoping to have received it in time to participate in the Disney Rewards Anniversary Promotion. Today, October 6th, was the last day of this special, and no, I didn't get my movie in the mail yet. Sure, I'm disappointed, but that's the way things go.
Why, I even purchased some classic Disney DVDs earlier this year -- some of which now appear on the list of newly-eligible titles for which Disney is offering points (
http://disney.eprize.net/movierewards/i ... _checked=1) but I purchased them
before Disney's date requirements. It was disappointing, to be sure, but it wasn't Disney's fault.

It's true that there probably isn't anything he can do. Disney Movie Rewards has the right to choose when they begin and end promotions, as well as the rules governing them. However, it really makes me mad that they keep coming up with new games and promotions in which loyal Disney DVD and Blu-Ray customers get shafted because they already purchased a particular title.
Like myself, when a new title comes out that I like, I usually buy it the day it comes out. Why should I not be eligible for a prize, game, or reward because I already bought their movie long before they ran the promotion. As a loyal customer, I should still be able to be rewarded for my purchase. It's just very frustrating to see rewards offered for titles you have already purchased.
I understand that it is a marketing technique to get people to go out and buy more Disney movies, but it ends up hurting avid Disney fans and DVD / Blu-ray buyers that already own those titles.

I'm an avid Disney movie collector, too. Sure, it would be nice if they would honor the purchases I made in the past. And maybe Disney can consider options to honor customers' DVD purchases backdated earlier than Spring 2008.
In the meantime, maybe we should all just sit on our Rewards codes for a while instead of entering them moments after tearing off the cellophane from the movie. Then, we'd have fresh codes on hand for the next special promotion.
This is something I've seriously considered in the past. And since there are currently no redemption prizes I'm interested in, I don't have to be in a hurry to spend my points -- and I don't have to be in a hurry to enter my codes.

Does anyone know if DMR is offering bonus points for "Sleeping Beauty: Platinum Edition"? I know they usually don't give bonus points for the Platinum Editions, however the only promo they have going on now is with the 101 Dalmatians DVDs, and that promo ends tomorrow. Usually, there is always at least one DVD at a time that offers bonus points. Does anyone know if Sleeping Beauty is or will offer bonus points?

I'm guessing they will announce double points either tomorrow, the day after the dvd drops, or next week when they know all the true fans will have already entered their codes thereby denying them double points.

I'm going to wait a week or two before entering my code, in case something comes up.

Unless there is something I really want, I always hold off on entering codes, just in case. That's why I had a backlog that I could enter for the Anniversary Bonus Points.
As for not getting in on time, I bought the "Nightmare Before Christmas" DVD from the Movie Club, but it did not arrive in time. So I bought it again from Wal-Mart, then returned the one from the club against that receipt. (No one loses in that one.)
Of course, there are still DVDs that I've entered that I will not be able to enter again for this new promotion. But as near as I can tell, yo only get some digital download stuff from the older titles, so it's no big deal if I can't open everything. There are still enough open titles for me to qualify if I really want to, but it's not that big a deal.

I purchased the Nightmare before Christmas and it didn't have a magic code on the inside

I was tempted to take it back but I guess I can go through the long process of just submitting the information to Disney Rewards for the points. That sucks!

It's annoying that the people who have been buying these DVDs for years don't get to participate because the eligible DVDs were already
purchased; I mean for once Disney goes out of their way to reward those who buy the movies and here we are standing in the sidelines.
It makes sense that they wouldn't care about us because we have already bought their products, I just think we deserve better;
after all we're the ones that buy the most DVDs and not just the hottest DCOMs they have out, we're actually collectors.

Does anyone know if Disney will reissue a reward if the one you got was damaged?
I had a few points left over and got one of the Pirate lithographs. It arrive in a envelope with a cardboard backing. The guy who delivers our mail just rolled it up and put in the the mailbox. There is a huge fold on one of the corners of the lithograph that's pretty noticeable. Because of the paper this is printed on I'm sure it probably can't be fixed.
I guess I learned not to order any paper items from the rewards.
I sent them a email from the contact us section.

Well, I just redeemed the Jack Skellington Head Knocker (and now I'm down to 2970 points). There really isn't that much good stuff to choose from so I decided that it was something that I wanted. I did want the Jack and Sally one but it isn't listed anymore. Well, hopefully I'll get it in 6-8 weeks like it says.

I just redeemed for the donation of a plush for Toys for Tots. I've always liked to donate to Toys for Tots, and I'm glad that that's an option for DMR!

Now that "A Mom for Christmas" is a DMC exclusive, I wonder how long before it shows up as a redemption title for the Disney Movie Rewards Program? Not to mention "Zorro season 2"!

I have 1650 points and I am considering gettting the STUB/Little Dog Lost 2 dvd collection for 1350 points since I am getting tired of waiting to save for a sculpture (not enough DVDs are coming out that I want to buy). I read that both titles are elgible for points. I hope that is true.

I went on yesterday to redeem points only to find that The Yellowstone Cubs is no longer available. I'm extremely bummed out as that's the one movie that I wanted and didn't have. Are there any other good DVD movies available? I'm looking at The Treasure of Metacumbe but I don't know much about it and The Disney Films books doesn't include opinions. I don't have enough points for the two-pack with Stub.

I received
Treasure of Matecumbe in the mail just yesterday. I just finished watching it. It's an alright movie. It feels like a cross between
The Apple Dumpling Gang and
Huck Finn.

I got my Stub/Little Dog Lost DVDs in the mail yesterday. I was surprised to how fast it took to get the pakage. I was more surprised to find Disney Movie Rewards codes in both DVDs. They were both worth 100 points.
