Spellbound: Premiere Collection - 6.98 - Another film for my Alfred Hitchcock collection. I am a little worried about these Premiere collection releases (as well as the Notorious and Rebecca discs) since they basically come from the same collection that had defective discs (from what I read on reviews on amazon.com).

$16.49 - Amazon
Amazon is kind of having a sale of Ghibli titles, and this is one of the few that I still need.

I wanted to finally pick up Season 8 of One Tree Hill this week, but Target's sale price wasn't on sale enough, while Season 4 of Gossip Girl was at the price I wanted One Tree Hill at (it kinda makes no sense, but I guess Gossip Girl has been out longer). So I went another route and found it to be a good time to pick up:
Glee: The Complete Second Season Blu-ray - $29.99 at Target

Wow, that was fast. Amazon just shipped my
The Cat Returns and it should be here by Friday; I haven't seen the film in awhile, so I can't wait to watch it once it gets here

xxxHolic: Complete Series..
This is an OOP set and a beast to find new.. so I went with buying a "like new" used version for $40. I will never resort to buying Funimation's SAVE editions. How hideous..
Also picked up a bunch of Godzilla flicks (13 films) on DVD to continue to upgrade the collection from VHS.. I wish some studio would put Biollante on DVD over here...

What is a SAVE edition?
I ordered Condorman from Disney Movie Rewards, and I bought this on Sunday so I would have enough points for it:
I hadn't seen it before until that night. I liked it pretty well and hope they do make the sequel as planned.

Since you asked.. a SAVE edition is a line of DVDs Funimation puts out that are re-releases of a product. This time, they use cheap packaging (opposed to slipboxes, etc) with a permanent and nasty giant green banner on the side of the release saying its a "SAVE" version (which stands for "Super Awesome Value Edition!!" ...)
Basically, its the same DVD content in horrible, cheap packaging, and thusly costs less. I'd rather support elegant releases and pay a little extra. I'm a whore for nice media packaging.. DX
It just makes me mad that Funi discontinues the NICE sets and only allows the SAVE editions for purchase. the end.

Thanks. Reminds me of what happened with the Sailor Moon releases. Though, this may be worse. At least they did compile them into season sets at that point, which they hadn't before, so I kinda wish I'd gotten those, but I'd already started the individual sets. For some reason, they started putting out the individuals with new editions that just had an ugly red banner on them which made it clear they were the cheaper, later releases. I still need to get the rest of that show though. I have such random DVDs from both the dubbed and subtitled releases.

I just pre-ordered
War Horse from Amazon (through UD, of course). I hope I can get some more Swag Bucks gift cards before then; especially since there are so many releases coming out.
