I can understand why they scrapped the idea of the limited capacity Cinderella and Aurora M&G because just waiting for Rapunzel and Flynn was outrageous and caused nothing but long waits and a lot of times two showtimes back even during non peak season when we visited.

And they don't need the princess meet and greet at all! Like SuperAurora said they all have spots or will, Jasmine is found in Adventureland and Tiana is in Liberty Square. They could just put Cinderella, Rapunzel and Aurora right behind the castle where you can always find either Lady Tremaine and the stepsisters or Fairy Godmother or even in Fairytale gaden. I still don't understand WHY they can't just stay up front with Mickey and Minnie, I mean what else do they plan on putting there, the fairies!?

I would die if they made SWSA an Alice dark ride that would just totally complete it for me

Oh and about Animal Kingdom expansion there has been many rumours out for a while now suggesting Australia to add sealife which sounds very cool.

hmmm that seems pretty cool. Though i'd personally rather have South America, I can buy the Australia(the land of deathly animals)+sealife.

I agree. Like I said, I still think that this area will end up as a M&G simply because I just don't see Disney not giving the princesses a prominent area. I would much prefer to see a new dark ride in the space, though I would probably choose it to be a Sleeping Beauty one to give Aurora a presence in the park as she lost her M&G.
WonderlandFever wrote:Oh and about Animal Kingdom expansion there has been many rumours out for a while now suggesting Australia to add sealife which sounds very cool.
Australia has been rumoured, as have South America and, a decade after being cancelled, Beastly Kingdom. The rumours have gathered pace as Bob Iger was seen at the park a couple of weeks ago while Joe Rohde has also been seen a few times, though as he is the park's creative chief, I don't know how significant that could be.

The favoured rumour at the moment is the Monsters, Inc. roller coaster that is apparently planned for Pixar Place at DHS. I can see this happening to coincide with the release of Monsters University in 2013 and if it does happen, should eventually lead to the removal of the Backlot Tour and a big expansion of Pixar Place.

I want to hear what they're going to do with the Skyway building. It's obviously been demolished and it's kind of an open secret that something will eventually go there. Hopefully it will Rapunzel's tower, though there have been rumours of a Princess and the Frog area where the New Orleans setting would carry over into Liberty Square.

I hadn't thought of this before I read it on different forums but it does make sense; the capacity was very limited given their size and the intimacy of the experience and could have lasted up to thirty minutes a time. Considering how many guests visit Magic Kingdoms at peak times of the year, the wait times would have been massive so in hindsight, the reasoning is credible.

I am very interested with the old skyway area as well! I think it's got to be for Rapunzel because really Tiana fits in so well where she is now and it's a great use of space. I am still holding out hope for a Haunted Mansion shop too :P

I wouldn't mind either way but if I had to pick one I'd probably go with Rapunzel too. The entire walkway into Liberty Square is going to be renovated and expanded so a Haunted Mansion shop is a possibility considering they will have more space to work with. To quote another internet rumour that has come from sources with some credibility, Disney are apparently planning to look at revitalising merchandise in the resorts by the end of the year and market more products that would be exclusive to the different hotels and attractions. I hope that's true as I would love to see more Haunted Mansion merchandise at MK.

DisneyAnimation88 wrote:The reasons were apparently...worries over capacity (executives apparently didn't want two meet-and-greets that only allowed for a small capacity of guests at a time, causing a large backlog of guests and long wait times).
Those reasons make me feel better about Cinderella and Aurora's places being cancelled, those are the most necessary and legitimate reasons.

I think Rapunzel's tower is going to happen because they need something block the view, and a tower is best, right? Wasn't the skyway tall/in the air, like a tower would be?

At first I wanted them to keep the Snow White dark ride, but because they originally planned Sleepiung Beauty, Mary Poppins, or Sleepy Hollow, my pick is Sleeping Beauty, probably the best choice, because of popularity and because Aurora's meet and greet was cut.

Pinocchio and Alice are cool, but they already have dark rides, even though some people have to drive a while to get to them. A new dark ride would be even cooler.

I just realized something though. First, I don't think there should be so much Dumbo. But likewise, I don't think there should be so much Beauty and the Beast. Belle's cottage and village could be Cinderella, Pinocchio, Alice, or something else, just as two thirds of Dumbo could be two other things.

They need something to block the view of the Haunted Mansion show building that is there and the tower would do that. I think it's a good idea as not only would it give Rapunzel a presence in the park, but it's also a specifically themed area for a M&G for Rapunzel and, maybe, Flynn Rider if he's brought back. The work they're doing there will apparently create a lot of extra space in that area so whatever they put there could be quite elaborate.

Hopefully, then, they could also fit the other m&g's there that are planned for the Snow White building, and keep that space as a dark ride! I know, wishful thinking... :)

Yeah really, it's terrible that even the Villains Vogue store has become nothing more than a Pirates & Nightmare store

Post #38 is by Raven, a very credible poster on wdwmagic. It looks like Disney is planning on bringing an interactive game to MK similar to the Kim Possible one at Epcot that will spread across Main Street, Adventureland, Frontierland and Fantasyland and will feature some popular characters.

One would hope so but knowing Disney, I would agree that that's probably wishful thinking  We still don't know what will go there just yet and since the Skyway was demolished, I don't think there have been any signs of construction on a new structure. Given that the Hyperion Wharf construction at DTD's Pleasure Island has been put on indefinite hold, it could be that Disney are re-evaluating all of their plans right now ahead of any possible announcements at D23. The Fantasyland expansion is expected to be given a lot of coverage at the expo so that would be the ideal time to announce any plans they have for the Skyway space.

And there might be a new parade called Festival of Fantasy next Spring.

For the first time, we have a name and another look at the proposed shop across from the Mermaid attraction, Triton’s Treasures. We can also see the Ariel meet and greet area labeled as Ariel’s Grotto

I agree, that used to be my favourite shop in WDW until they filled it Nightmare Before Christmas and POTC merchandise, not to mention bloody vinylnation  We stayed at Wilderness Lodge two years ago and asked a woman in the shop about resort-exclusive merchandise. She said that it was the worst she had seen it in the seventeen years she had worked there and said many cast members felt the same. She said that complaints about the lack of exclusive or quality merchandise are amongst the most frequent from guests and encouraged us to write to Disney and complain.

It's good to see another exhibit added to One Man's Dream. The miniature models of the expansion are going to be on display at D23 and then some of them will apparently be sent to OMD so it will be good to get a more three-dimensional idea of how it should turn out.
