Also, I cannot believe only 6 more months I get to have Beauty and the Beast Blu-ray Disc in my hands! I am so siked. These 6 months are gonna fly by! I cannot wait.

What do you mean?

Disney left the original 1980s blue castle logo and RKO logo for Peter Pan. They removed the 1980s blue castle logo for Sleeping Beauty but had the movie open with the RKO logo as originally intended.

With something as recent as Beauty and the Beast, it's much more trickier. I really didn't care for the new musical sequence myself.

despite the original opening, it's important to note that the new castle comes after the closing credits for said movies.

And speaking of the new castle, I can't stand how it just says "Disney" now. It looks out of place and unbalanced. Not to mention cheap.

Belle looks like she's in La-La Land.

Do you guys think that we will get any collector items with this release? Maybe not to the extent that Snow White did, but maybe go back to the collector editions from the Lion King, Cinderella, and Aladdin.

It all depends on whether or not Disney sees a set as profitable. Personally, I wouldn't buy a set for the price of what Snow White was, but I would buy a set for around the price of the Gone With the Wind and Oz sets, which were list price about 80 bucks, but I got for fifty or so.

I am still very curious as to wether Disney have any plans to re-release the two "sequels" anytime, (obviously on DVD only) I have alot of the DTV Sequels mainly for collections sake but I don't have the two BATB ones so I would be intrested in getting copies of these sometime.

Why obviously on DVD? They'll surely release them all on blu-ray at SOME point. I think the idea of releasing any movie ONLY to DVD at this point is such a waste.

Just a quick question,

I want to get Beauty and the Beast on DVD but missed out on the Platinum Edition, so I'm waiting on this new DVD. I don't own a Blu-Ray player and don't plan on buying one any time in the near future, what's the likelihood of the Diamond Edition retaining everything from the last DVD on the DVD format? Like did Snow White retain most of it's stuff on the most recent DVD edition?

So then I guess my best bet come October would be just to track down the original 2002 DVD if I don't have a Blu-Ray player by then. Fair enough.

Unless of course you are planning on getting a blu-ray player at some point in the next couple years... because then you'll just be buying it again.

Honestly, I'd say that the Platinum Edition DVD is worth just buying right now if you don't have it. You can find it on Amazon for like $20-30 ish... and it really is a great release. All kinds of great bonus features.

I'm leaving for college in August so I doubt I'll have much need for a Blu-Ray player for at least another four years.

The PE is worth every cent, IMO. In addition to the elegant 3D menus, you get a bunch of featurettes that altogether make a 50 min doc, the original Human Again storyboards with two introductions, similar with pencil version of Beast's death, animation tests, animatic of the Ballroom scene, galleries, and so much more!

Except for the transfer.

Eh, except for dark scenes, the transfer doesn't matter that much to me. Saturday Morning Cartoons look much worse.

Yeah dude since you don't wanna upgrade your best bet is to wait around the release of the Blu Ray + DVD combo pack that will make the price of the originals go down on eBay or Amazon.com market place.

However the rest of us will enjoy getting the new movie on blu and dvd for like 10 bucks with couopns and deals
