You may be right. I've looked it up and Henry Jackman's score for Winnie the Pooh was in fact eligible despite the film being a musical. That's quite odd since the Oscar rule is pretty clear: "Scores diluted by the use of tracked themes or other preexisting music, diminished in impact by the predominant use of songs, or assembled from the music of more than one composer shall not be eligible."

But doesn't the fact that Christophe Beck used some of the songs' tunes in the score makes it not eligible or however you say that?

Let it go's biggest competition is "Atlas" and "Young and Beautiful". I think. It would kind of interesting to see Frozen nab a lot of awards...

They did the same thing with Tangled, with them only submitting I See the Light. I saw this coming because they were praising "Let It Go" above the other songs in all the interviews. It's an intelligent strategy, but I think it would be fairier if the Academy members could choose from all the songs.

Can't get that haunting nursery rhyme out of my head… (haunts me much more than... the still gorgeous Let It Go, if you ask me) : first, little toddler Anna begging, then she's a little more grown up from 1.20 ( with the chilling wonderful classical strings i rarely heard in a Disney song)… Then from 1.50 the sad dramatic bad new about the parents death… and from 2.28 the mourning anna as a young girl, still begging… Elsa staying dramatically silent during all this…

That song is really a surprise to me : so poetic, innocent to the core (taste a bit like Mormont's i am here for you, but in a so pure, sincere way !), so bitter sweet, musical, intimate, charming, intoxicating, spellbounding and moving to tears. A perfect and tender little gem.

It takes me back to " your mother and mine, love is a song, feed the birds, stay awake, the journey (rescuers), the second star to the right, you'll be in my heart, healing incantation", anyway, all the most moving Disney anthems… A dramatic lullaby about love torn apart, loss of childhood, pain and mourning… Never fell in love so deeply and quickly for a disney song for ages… That's all i was waiting from the Lopez, in a simple song.

And I don't even mention how all the other songs seem terrific : gospel "fixer upper", beatles style "open door", menken vibe "first time forever"…

I agree with you. When I read the song list on iTunes, I thought "Meh. Do you wanna build a snow man is gonna be sung by children.. I'm not that interested in it." But after hearing that preview.. OMG. I can't get the melody out of mind and the background music, especially the strings are haunting. If a scene has to make my cry in this movie, it would probably be in this song. What would make this perfect is if they also show elsa tortured by what she's doing to Anna. And I have a feeling that they will.

I'm looking forward to hearing the orchestra of Let it go, i don't really feel like Idina's singing voice matches with Elsa. But that might change when I watch the movie.
I didn't like Love is an open door when I read the lyrics, but it sounded great at the recording preview.
I'm afraid that the only song that i might not like is Fixer Upper. Mainly because: 1) Kristoff and Anna don't sing in it. 2) It seems like it's meant to be sung on stage, not in a movie.

But then again.. That might change once i see the movie...

I was surprised with 'Do You Want to Build a Snowman?' as well, I can't remember the last time I heard a new Disney song so beautiful, innocent and powerful all at the same time. I have little doubt that both it and 'Let It Go' will become instant favourites of mine once the soundtrack is finally released, but I don't think there is a song from Frozen that I've heard part of that I'm not tremendously excited about. Gosh, I'm almost as excited for the soundtrack than the movie itself- and that doesn't happen often!

Does anyone know if the soundtrack is released on the same day internationally?

So Frozen is 108 minutes long? Seems like animated films are stretching it, I like that. If the Incredibles was nearly 2 hours long and Marvel films are hell long too, I wonder how long Big Hero 6 would be...

Did Disney allow so many preview screenings for their previous movies? I don't remember so many reactions before Ralph was released, then again I followed Ralph a lot less closely.

Do you guys have any idea what the tagline for frozen is?

I mean, for tangled it was: They're taking adventures to new lengths

Wreck it ralph had a few.. But have we seen anything from Frozen?
