Well, people already talked about how Cinderella represents what you think of when you think of a "princess" while Ariel is not what you typically think of when you think of a princess.

But, about Cinderella's hair, really, all the time, in every place you've seen it?

Aside from the fact I completely disagree with you and think you are wrong (can you admit Cinderella at least shows more personality than Snow or Aurora?), are you sure you don't mean that because the film develops all of the characters, it seems like there's not enough development of the main character because that's who you feel it's supposed to be all about? And the Prince got way less developed than her at least!

MTE. I have actually gained a love for Cinderella re-watching it, she is mature, sassy, and funny!

Mhm! I thought she was really boring when I was younger, but when I watched it again a couple weeks ago, I found that she was quite sassy! So I'm liking her more.

However, seeing her face everywhere still doesn't make me happy :|

Maybe so. I just felt that the film, like Sleeping Beauty, wasn't completely focused on its star character. Cinderella, of all people should've had the most psychological weight from losing her real family, taking so much abuse from her step family, and being continually denied from pursuing her dreams.
The Fairy Godmother's appearance was a convenient response to the weakest part of her psyche, but she's never referred to before or after that breakdown, nor does the newfound knowledge that she has a Fairy Godmother really affect Cindy's behavior. (When a character like Pinocchio had a fairy enabler, the idea was at least kept consistent thru the presence of the "wishing star".)

This shouldn't mean that the subplots about Jacques, Gus, and Lucifer, and the King and Duke weren't necessary, if only to provide comedic balance, but we don't learn that much about Cinderella herself, except that she's highly protective of her mice friends, and that she's remarkably patient, collected, and dignified in her demeaning position. A case could've been made that being rich or privileged doesn't really make one "superior" to the other. That by right, Cinderella's resilience under such difficult circumstances compared to her stepsisters' impatience with very trivial things made Cindy a stronger person. Any such personality contrast was barely hinted in the "Sweet Nightingale" segment.

And YES, the Prince was under-developed. We never find out what he did for a living, he didn't have any involvement in the drive behind the ball (so the King can have grandkids), the search for the mystery girl he danced with was done for him, and assuming he's a grown man capable of his own decisions, it ultimately felt like he was programmed to "love" Cindy. He's so severely under-developed that he doesn't even have a name!

Seriously, in that Disney Paris footage...that's a LOT of hair!

Sad that they cut off Punzie's first verse to the song. :?

I love the Paris video. It is funny that she can't do much but stand there thanks to her hair.

Does anyone know where the movie takes place? I know the "Rapunzel" story was popularized by German authors, so I would expect it to be somewhere near what is now Germany. But are there any other clues?
