One of my first memories (I was almost 3 when Lion King came out) is going to the drive-in to see it and I was reciting all the dialogue from the adult Simba/Nala fight. Of all the fantastic scenes in that movie...I guess my toddler self remembered the melodramatic one haha.

just for fun, like when you 1st saw the film what scene stayed in your mind?

I'll always remember The Hyenas bullyin Lil Simba/Nala in the Elephant graveyard and the Hakuna Mat'ta sequence.
I was 7 when I first saw it, but the scene that stuck with me most was the wildebeest stampede that killed Mufasa. It was so well done I thought...the Be Prepared song that leads into it, the quiet calm before the storm scene with Simba trying to roar, and the frantic, tense action.

And I just really dug the redemption story of Simba - running away and almost dying, trying new things with new friends, finding out who he really is, falling in love, owning up to responsibility, fighting evil Scar and taking back what is rightfully his. No other Disney Animation film really captivated me on the level that The Lion King did/does.

Literally, it was the Elephant Grave Yard Scene..... I still remember a nightmare I had about the movie when I went to bed one night in 1994 and I was 7 years old....

The Hyena's were chasing Nala and Simba...and I was there but I couldn't figure out if I was human or another Lion cub....and then all of a sudden a Huge Lion Mask or Lion covers the scene trying catch me and swallow me whole says I disobeyed him and he was going to eat me..and I saw a big dark mouth and then I woke up Screaming scared to death...I then Went into the living room and chanted to my self that I didn't like lions...I liked Hyenas....and I would quit researching Lions and start looking for info on Hyenas....don't ask me what I was thinking with that illogical conclusion at the age of 7....I'm still trying to think of to this day A. Why I still remember that dream to a T when I was 7 years old. B: How I came to the illogical Conclusion and C. All of the above...

Does anyone know if there'll be a music video for The Lion King? B/c in the major releases (like Beauty and the Beast and The Jungle Book), there's always some music video.

^Dunno, but maybe you should pre-order, get int'l shipping, then if it doesnt have english, sell it for ridiculously high in the US/jk

As for the scene that stuck with me most, I cant say really cuz I've seen it too many times, but I guess it's either "Circle of Life" or "I Just Can't Wait to be King".

An Interview with Robert Neuman, Stereographer on 'The Lion King 3D'
http://collider.com/the-lion-king-3d-co ... es/108381/

Excerpt
Q:How long did it take to convert the movie into 3D?

A: It took four months to complete the conversion. It was extremely challenging and a very busy four months, but we got there in the end. We couldn't be more proud of the outcome.

Q: Is the same 3D version used in theaters and on Blu-Ray?

A: It’s basically the same version; although we slide everything back a little for Blu-Ray because a television screen isn't as big as a movie theater screen. We take the final images and slide them along by a few pixels. But other than that, everything is identical.

Q: How much input did the original filmmakers have into the 3D version?

A: One of the great things about working on this project was the fact that we had access to the original filmmakers. The input we were able to get from the original directors, Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, and the producer, Don Hahn, was extremely reassuring. It was great to make sure that what we were implementing was their vision.

Q: Why did Disney decide to convert The Lion King into 3D?

A: Why do this with such a great, classic film? In creating this 3D version, we’re creating a whole new art form, a whole new medium. You have all of the charm and the energy of the hand-drawn line that the original artists put down on paper, but there’s a tangibility that you usually only get out of something that has more dimensional framework. Let me give you an example… It feels like you can touch the characters in Toy Story because they’re starting from this truly dimensional framework. The Lion King 3D has the same characteristics. It has this tangibility, charm and, in my eyes, it has become a distinct form of animation. Even if you've seen the movie a hundred times, you’ll feel like you’re seeing it for the first time when you see it in 3D.

Q: Will we see more classic Disney animations in 3D?

A: It’s certainly a possibility, but nothing has been decided yet. We have the technology available, but there are no specific plans to do anything else right now. Personally, I think it would be amazing to see something as vintage as Snow White come to life in 3D. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it happens one day soon – and that I get the opportunity to work on it.

I'm not sure if this is old but IMDB has a ton of promotional videos up for The Lion King Diamond Edition release:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110357/videogallery

They advertise the trilogy box set, Disney's Second Screen feature and some of the newly recorded supplemental material (The Lion King: A Memoir- Don Hahn and Pride of The Lion King). I'm still pissed that all the old features are being put on the Virtual Vault. In all honesty, I'm just going to rent the Platinum Edition to watch the old features, as the Virtual Vault is more trouble then it's worth.

EDIT: All these clips are on the official website, so it's old news. Ignore my post.

Will they release all the movies separate so you don't have to buy the trilogy set? My personal opinion, I do not like the collector's sets. I rather have them in there own cases.

Possible ironpack/steelbook for pre-order at Best Buy? Part of a new wave of Futureshop metal cases (including Pirates 4, Bambi, and Incredibles).

There was a spot for a "Lion King exclusive pre-order"on the Best Buy website but has since been taken down. Same for Pirates at $7.50. Sounds awfully familiar to the preorder Steelbooks and Ironpacks Best Buy has gotten in the past.

I love the case, but it irks me and my OCD that the spine says "The Lion King: Diamond Edition" as neither steelbook for Snow White or Beauty and the Beast say Diamond Edition. In fact, every steelbook release so far has only had the title along with Disney or Walt Disney.

But again, small OCD issue haha... I'm excited for this wave of Ironpacks overall.

So, I saw The Lion King on Broadway and it was amazing!

This pic describes this show well:

Image

It's coming to Baltimore (I don't live far from it), so I may go see it because the show ended too fast for me! :D And I may not have a chance to see it again, so....yeah! :)

WAAAHHH!!!

BAMBI's got one too!

Image

Those are SO much better than the original covers....that horrible sideways title is gone!

I'm totally against buying the same product twice but I might be breaking my rule for this one.

^Love the Lion King steelbook too.

That's the same cover as the Collector's Edition Gift Set DVD! Which is my favorite Lion King cover, simple but very beautiful! It's great to see Disney using that design again!
