I wouldn't panic at all. It's essentially the same movie. Granted, Im not Drama-royalty like most of us, but still, Disney wouldn't do an alternate cut and not have the newer one released.

The Platinum Edition of BatB says its running time is 90 mins. like it says on the new website for the Diamond Edition. I'm assuming that their including only this runtime because it's the longest. There is no doubt in my mind that the original and the "Human Again" versions will both be included on the new DE.

Me too! More hope for "Fantasia" this year! I'm not gonna be able to go at midnight (1. No car, 2. School the next day), but I'm sure as hell gonna get this day 1. I hope Best Buy offers a pre-order steelbook like they did with Snow White. In fact, I hope the pre-order steelbooks because a tradition with the releases of Diamond Editions...

I hope the steelbook releases for ALL the classics become a tradition. I'm holding out on Princess and the Frog, hoping that a steelbook is offered later this year. I hope.

This is one of them.
It's basically about the changed animation, but aside from that, you can clearly see the transformation in
overall look too.
From
Classic to
Saturday morning sequel look.

Oh boy, this should be entertaining!
sotiris2006, thanks for the link. Interestingly enough, the colors don't seem too off, at least IMHO.

It's awesome that their actually giving us a solid DATE on something for the first time in ages.
Anybody think there's any chance we might get a nice collector's edition to match the Snow White one with the book? I would guess they won't do a big giant ultra super duper chest one like Snow White, but just a nice dark blue collector's edition would be spectacular.

I really hope so. I didn't get Snow White's as I wasn't buying combos at the time so when I decided to do so I wanted to re-buy it for as cheap as I can (seeing as I just bought the 2-Disc DVD last fall). I'm content with the stand-alone Diamond Edition of it.

Eh? Why the hell did they change Cogsworth?
His eyes even look different.

They weren't satisfied with the scene in the original, so they reanimated it.

They need to just get the original guy in there to re animate it the way he wants to.

The announcement also claims a "restoration" was applied.
Just throw the original out the window, why dontcha?

Well, maybe they'll just re-instate some stuff. I would personally like to see the original animation re-instated, but fat chance of that happening.
I mean, Disney left the opening and original animation for the PEs of Peter Pan and Sleeping Beauty.
And the cover for the Diamond Edition of BatB is just stunning. Nicely done.

I dont mind them reanimating that Cogsworth sequence but I seriously wish they would bring back the original color scheme. The darker colors of the original cut make the movie much more pleasing to look at than the washed-out look of the new version.
Also you can see more detail with the original print which will be a bonus if they're gonna do a Blu Ray release of this.
