You're welcome for the link Amy, glad you were able to watch it. I enjoyed it somewhat, but the orignal will always be a classic.
One thing that really puzzles me bout Pinocchio, is Gidon the cat (Honest John's sidekick) and Figaro the cat (Geppeto's cat) Gidon is human size and poor Figaro is animal sized....anybody wonder why this lil "bizzareness" occurs??

No more puzzling than the Goofy / Pluto relationship.

Exactly what I was going to say.

If anything, it more justifies the whole situation. If Pluto is to be nothing more than a pet then Figaro should be just as cursed!

Here's an article on Creature vs Character, it's mainly about the Talespin world but can also be used to explain other instances like Gideon and Figaro.

Judgin from the clips on that youtube link, Pinocchio is gonna be one bright, vibrant film. His signature hot red pants are somewhat of a distraction.

The original hot pants!

Well, then I'm soooo glad that in 2009 they finally found the real overly bright red pants from 1940!!!!!
It's such a shame that everything from 1940 till now, all the promotional material directly from the studio back then, all the official screenshots of the OTV, all the old technicolor books, everything that ever existed of the film and anything the world has ever seen has been so wrong, so it was about time they came up with this!!!!!!

Ps. The clips in that youtube link look really weird. Take a look at 0:12
Where Gepetto is painting Pinnocchio's eye.
(or the parts at 1:40 and 2:01)
It just looks like a drawing/clip from 1940, but covered in a layer of bright, flat, modern paint. It feels like a big style and time clash.
And because I just can't combine those 2 opposite styles, I find it completely unwatchable. Just like Cinderella on dvd.

I actually didn't hate the video and I usually loathe Disney Channel persons' "covers" of classic Disney songs!

I like the middle where it almost became somewhat surreal and etheral, but then she'd go back to the cheesy teen cover route (which I personally don't mind/like)

You're not really going to judge a film restoration off a YouTube clip, are you?

I watched about ten seconds of that torture music and I pretty much puked in my mouth (I wish I had that throw up emoticon).
I thought the Platinum line was geared toward collectors--not two year olds.

Does this help? <a href="http://www.clipartof.com"><img src="

I felt the same way too!

What a ghastly messed up version of an old Disney standard yech!! I hate these re-jigged modernised classic Disney numbers , at least Barbra Streisand ( in the last Snow White DVD release ) has class!!

Well... that was just.... awful.
These teen starlets shouldn't touch the classic Disney songs with a ten foot pole.
I could accept a more mature singer doing a more humble cover. Like for instance Barbara Streisands Someday my Prince will Come on Snow White, but this trash is unacceptable. And it baffles me that anyone involved in these cheap music videos actually thinks it's a good idea.
And besides, aren't little girls singing along to trash like Britney Spears and Katy Perry these days? So in the end, no one even watches this.
what a waste of disc space.

God knows who Disney will drag out for the forthcoming October 2009 Platinum Edition of Snow White please God not Britney Spears!!!

Of course we are, it's UD. God forbid we wait until an actual release, surely a clip on youtube will look exactly the same as, say, Blu-ray. I don't see why it wouldn't.
And as for the music videos on DVDs, I'm going to tell everyone a little secret- they all suck. From Babs' overwrought mid-80s "Someday My Prince Will Come" to Ms. Gomez's "jazz" rendition of "Cruella DeVil", each and every one has made me want to blow chunks. So can I suggest something? DON'T WATCH THEM. Seriously. If you hate it, do what I do and just ignore it.
